Everything from being able to make dinners the kids didn't like, to being able to run here or there without having to account to anyone where you are or what time we will be home. Every action, every chore, every day brings about the realization that things have changed.
Saturday is house-cleaning day at the Kautz house. Today is our very first house-cleaning without any assistance from the kids.....which leaves me with one big kid to help....Joe.
In the past, Joe has offered to clean the kitchen while Em and I split up the rest of the house. While our house is on the far end of wee, Joe has managed to eek out 3 full hours to clean the kitchen. Me...I can knock it out in an hour AND do a very thorough job. Joe....well....if you ask him, he's doing a far better job than I ever did in his time frame.
So, this morning, I made the announcement in regards to the new house-cleaning duties:
"Joe, you cannot JUST do the kitchen. AND you cannot take 3 HOURS to do the kitchen either. It's just you and me...and I'm not getting stuck with the rest of the house."
To which he replies..."Okay." Which, translated, means that he will probably do the kitchen and run some errands or something. Ugh.
I was on the phone with Joe's mom this morning and I reiterated that story to her. Her reaction?
