The True Story of the Duck and Wheel

Now that "Hoarders" is on hiatus or out filming more hoarding folks, I'm left to whatever else is on Monday nights.  And while that sounds sorta boring, it isn't--especially now that I've found old re-runs of "Little House on the Prairie" to watch.  Dang, if I don't love that innocent hour of good, clean, family entertainment and that darn Half-Pint and her "Pa".  If you are looking for me on Mondays.....that's where you are gonna find me--hatin' on mean 'ol Nellie Olsen.

Sad, isn't it? That's my life. But it's a good life, I guess.

Anywho, BumbleVee was asking the other day how the Duck and Wheel got it's name, so you can click here and find out.  Be prepared--it's a wacky story. But why wouldn't it be, right?

This past winter, Duck sorta went missing for awhile, Wheel went up against a tree somewhere in the yard, and String.....well, I'm assuming it's halfway to Montana to visit Pricilla and my goat friends by now.  But Spring came, and apparently so did the landscapers, so Duck is back out in the front yard with a couple of his gal friends.  I'm thinking that maybe Duck went to Florida for the winter....or Mexico--someplace warm, I'm sure.

Either way, Duck and Wheel with String is still an ever-changing phenomenon at the end of our street.  It's sort of like me, I guess--always changing, always making folks wonder what the hell I'm supposed to be.  I still look for him and laugh at Duck at whatever surrounding he's in at the moment. He keeps me looking and most of all......... laughing.

One of these days, I'm gonna get ballsy and take his photo.

That little purple splash to complement the orange kitty makes for a perfect portrait. Wonderful shot of Hobbes.

Oh, a picture of Duck would be great.

OK, I used to walk on my treadmill during LHOTP and what I discovered by looking at the timer on the treadmill was that I started tearing up at nearly the exact time each show! About 42.30 minutes in! It's a formula, I tell ya, and it worked on me EVERY stinkin' time!!

You know, you could get all high brow and say that Duck & wheel with string is a great metaphor for your entire concept (which I'm sure you have and it is). I love how quintessential this is to what I think of you- a wacky lady looking for reasons to keep smiling, laughing, and keep being wacky while learning life lessons on the side;)

Catherine--Do you know what is on RIGHT BEFORE Little House re-runs???? The Waltons. Yep. It's hog heaven, I'm telling you. :)

Ann--I cry at that darn show EVERY single time. Seriously. Why do they make it so touching?

Vanilla--Doesn't he look lovely on purple? Our good friend, Anita's Mom, made that for him. His orange stripes are just stunning on that blankey.

Betty--Oh, I'm glad it isn't just me!! Hahaha! I'm always crying at that show--it's just so sweet. When I was pregnant with Colin, I was laid off my job and I sat and watched that every single day. I was a MESS! I still like that show, don't you?

Hot Rocks--Weren't they the cutest family EVER??! I STILL cry at that show! I'm glad I'm not alone in that.

Diane--What??! What would I look at each time I drive down the street??? I love how it surprises me all the time.

Nancy--I like to think that's how life should be--let's all compare notes on how funny things in life really are. I love to find the weird, the hilarious, and the wacky in the normal day--and somehow I never seem to run out of that stuff. Thank goodness. We all need to laugh a whole lot more.

Patty--AHA! I knew String made it to you guys!! You're welcome.

Diana--That's fine--just no "Little House on the Prairie" dresses!

Beaded Tail--I had back-to-back episodes last night! It was GREAT!! And before that.....The Walton's. Hog heaven, I tell ya. :)

A couple of weeks ago, there was a Little House marathon. I so wanted to stay in my pjs all day and do nothing but keep a box of Kleenex close by. I always like to watch something that leaves me with the warm fuzzies.

I remember Little House on the Prairie. It would probably be really good for my girls (clean, wholesome fun).

There's a guy in town who literally covered his from yard with sand. I think he wanted a beach front house but couldn't afford it. He even had palm trees. Tacky! It's back to normal now, but when I drive by it, I can't help but laugh.

ahahhahah...that's hilarious...and I thought it was something simple....like maybe a toy...hahha.... silly me.

Sorry I didn't come by sooner to back track and see what you have been up to.... I was actually busy working on some of that 'stuff' under wraps in my craft room.... yeh.... Olaf wasn't helping much at all... just hanging out really ....

We've been looking at cabinetry, appliances and having meetings with a contractor.....arrgghh... trying to get the ball rolling for our last big push in the renovation department.... must finish off several projects... and this time we are not doing ourselves.... and, as usual....I am dreading all of it.... but, it IS going to be done.
