Not in my backyard

It's that time again.....dandelion season.  If Weirdville had a village flower, I'm convinced this would be it.

And while I get that some people view weed and feed as "expensive" or "poisonous" or whatever else excuse they have for not using it, I would personally like to kick every single one of them in the shins.  I don't like dandelions, even if I made a quilt in their honor.

Don't ask me why I'm digging this out of my quilt collection and putting it up in the house, while outside, I'm yanking these pests out by their scrawny legs.

It's the complication of being me.

Sigh... honestly... I would even take one of those nasty dandelions as it would mean that spring was here for sure.

Hmm....I should be careful what I wish for. ;)

Yep... the dandelions are HERE! Time to slug it out with them again.

Love the dandelion quilting! Awesome.

Nice quilt!

It surely must be a full-time job being you.

I have a peace treaty with the dandys. Live & let live.

Vanilla is certainly right about full-time. :)

That quilt is flippin' amazing! I never minded dandelions - if it was in the yard and it was green then it was A-Ok with me!

Oh, you'd hate me as your neighbor. I even have burdock in my yard. I spent about 10 years hacking and hacking at all the weeds that clutter my yard. I guess all the flooding destroyed what progress I made. I gave up about 3 years ago. Too dang old and tired now. The weeds have won.

Love the quilt:) Oh dear...I'm working on a sewing project that includes dandelions too...sorry about that:)

I have seen one dandelion so far this spring but our weather is so up and down we really haven't got much growing in our yard at the moment.

Do you know what those poisons do to the ecosystem? Do you know that they end up in your water, etc?
Get a goat
I have one that needs a home and he still fits in a large flat rate box....

Hmn...that it is quite hypocritical of you. But you're allowed to change your mind over the years;) What a great quilt too, never mind the subject!

I leave the dandelions alone. I figure they are something growing in my yard. I might as well leave them alone.

good thing I don't live next door to you because my lawn is always covered with them :)

Dandelions are about the only thing I can keep growing since the slugs eat up my flowers. Also, those suckers sure don't come out of the ground very easy!

Catherine--Yeah. I hate those darn things. Especially when I find them in my gardens. Ugh.

Diane--We do fine.....until the knucklehead's yard across the street goes into full bloom. He spends all his money on blow up jumpies for the kids and nothing on lawn care. Drives. Me. Nuts.

Vanilla--It is! I'm exhausted.

Chuck--Well, your yard is wayyyyy too large to worry about dandelions. Here in suburbia--folks can manage a little weed and feed. Forget "Forty acres and a mule"--it should be "Forty feet and a bag of weed and feed!"

Grace--It was a pattern, but still--it was fun to make. You've seen my lawn in photos--dandelions are not welcome here.

Rebecca--Okay, you get the flood excuse, I will forgive you. But here, the lots are small and there are no reasons for not maintaining.

Mary Ann--I typically don't mind dandelions, but we've had some jerky neighbors over the past few years who do NOTHING to their lawns. We are paying the price now. arrrgghh!

Patty--Don't get me started on water poisoning. Do a search on the water issue in the town I live in. It's not me doing the poisoning as much as our own mayor and his cohorts. And we make a wiiiiddde berth around the pond to keep my frogs safe. I'll take a goat!!

Nancy--I used to like dandelions, but now those buggars are creeping into our yard and gardens....not so much anymore.

Anne--Dandelions don't stand a chance with us. Between Joe and I, we hunt them down and kill them!

Ann--Yeah, I'd have to murder you. ;)

Beaded Tail--You need some toads to eat your slugs. Garden toads are FABULOUS for that! We had a toad once. And we kept looking at him so much he finally left our yard. I swore I heard him grumbling...

dandelions are a hot commodity. My town actually has a festival where dandelion salads and wine are served...though, personal I think they are pretty nasty.

Too funny. I have been helping your cause and been pulling up those nasty dandelions. We don't have too many in our yard so you don't have to kick us in the shins. Have a great day.

Silver--Remember when you were a kid and you'd pick some dandelions to give to your mom and then somehow, later, you'd bring your hand to your mouth and it would be all.... BLECH?! That's what I think of when I hear folks eating those things on salads and such. No thanks. Yuck.

Marg--Thank you, Marg! It's good to know that you are on my team. :)

Well, it's a beautiful quilt! Now get out there and spread the weed & feed! Spray those suckers till they wilt!

Lin, you'd hate me - I let them go to town in my yard. After all, they are edible - not that I've tried. lol :)
