Closing Ceremonies for BarkFest 2012

The other day, I heard this conversation coming from the laundry room where Em and Joe were folding clothes:

Joe:  "Aw, crap! I've got spots all over the front of it! This shirt is a hot mess."

To which Em replied: "Are you sure it's the shirt?"

Yeah, I'm laughing--but not too hard. I'm a hot mess these days too. Criminy, I'm leaving comments for people on the wrong blogs for goodness sakes. Sigh.  I only have one excuse, and it's lame--I'm gonna blame the Weiner Dog.

Sammy is leaving tonight and the only one who couldn't be happier is Sammy himself.  You'd think we beat the darn thing for how happy he is to be going home. What is with that??! I mean, we let him sleep in our bed with us. He gets a treat if he just looks outside. He drinks from the pond and chases the birdies.  Then when that fun is over, he goes over and barks at the two barky doofuses next door--AND I don't  even yell at him to stop.  It's rainbows and butterflies and unicorns for this dude when he's here--what else can a dog want???

Sheesh.

So, after tonight, the world will be back in order. Hobbes can sit on my chest and get his "lovin'" in the morning. Grace won't have to jump up on the counter to eat anymore. Joe won't have to worry about being "spooned" by the dog when he sleeps and I won't have to listen to the incessant whining to go home. Emma--well, she's oblivious to the whole dog thing anyway.  She'll just be Emma.

But I can't promise that I will make comments on the right blog or to the right people. You'll just have to laugh amongst yourselves and go searching on other people's blogs for your comments. And roll your eyes and wonder what is up with Lin.

I'm still a hot mess. A dog-less one at that.

Hmmm. Seems Sammy is experiencing coddled child syndrome: spoiled and unappreciative.

We always want what we don't have. It's as simple as that. Doesn't matter the species.

At least you're a hot mess without spots on your shirt. ;)

Dogs tend to get attached to their owners. It's funny how upset they get when their owners are away, no matter how nice you treat them.

No matter luxurious the resort it's always nicer at home - even for weiner dogs...

Hahah....everyone gets to blame their mistakes on being distracted by the nice weather outside this time of year. At least in my book!

I just read your post from yesterday and that combined with Joe being spooned by a dog has made me laugh harder than I have in months! I can always count on you to cheer up my day!

Melodie--I dunno. I guess we are not dog people. He's a nice dog friend, but dogs need so much attention. Sheesh. It's exhausting!

Vanilla--Oh, he's awful with that! When we take him home, he doesn't even look at us! No "Thanks, guys. Here's a kiss for ya" or nuthin'. Wow. I never get used to that.

Patty--He just wants home. And the older he gets, the more he's like that. I think the kennel would kill that dog. He should remember that, don't you think?

Liz--Yeah, not like Joe! Hahaha!

Silver--Oh, dogs really suffer without their families! It's awful! Sammy went to the kennel ONCE and it was so awful that I volunteered to take him. He does okay here, but we are still not his family. I feel so bad for him--hence the sleeping in our bed.

Grace--Oh, he is so happy to go home! It's hilarious. He goes in and never looks back.

Nancy--Oh, my head is all over the place lately. I'm blaming the dog and menopause. :P

Tracy--Oh, he is VERY happy to see that dog gone! He can come back in the house again. ;)

Jean--I'm an idiot, Jean. I've left comments for other people TWICE on Vanilla's blog. I'm sure he thinks I'm nuts.

Beaded Tail--You were the only one who caught that--Joe being spooned by the dog. It was hilarious. He woke up yelling "Dammit! I'm being spooned by the dog!" I was dying laughing. So, other people don't live like this?????

Hilarious Lin! I hope Sammy at least said goodbye before he blazed a trail. Maybe this is a sign that a future bark bark is in store for you.

Simone--No goodbyes for us--there never is. He turns to go in and never looks back. And NO, we will not get a dog. Ever. We are not dog people. Just ask Hobbes.

Sammy (my cat) always goes into hiding when I dog-sit my FIL Jack Russel terrier. He's such an active little dog.
I think that's nice that you give Wiener a treat when he looks outside ;-)
