Mix it Up

There's this thing that Hobbes does when he's really, really happy to be outside: He gets all wild-eyed, holds his tail kinda crooked-like and he attacks something imaginary on the ground in front of him--he sorta shuffles his kitty hands around like he's mixing up something.  It's pretty hilarious when there is something to mess with, like snow or leaves, but it's just plain silly when there is nothing but grass or concrete to wrastle--he's a goof like that.

One early morning last week, Hobbes charged out the cat door to find a dusting of snow on the patio.  He was so smitten with the cold air that he decided to show that snow who's boss--and he did his little happy cat dance.  While it was funny to see him do his bit, it was funnier to see what remained of the pristine snow after he came in.  Em and I had a chuckle about Hobbes "mixin' it up".

I think life is like that--I think you gotta mix it up every now and then, don't you? I mean, the world sorta sits there waiting and it's up to us make our own fun....or not.  Me, I'm kind of fond of having fun and I certainly don't sit around waiting for it to come find me.  If you wait, it never comes.

Take the lead from Hobbes--go out there this weekend and mix it up.  Stir up the leaves or the snow of your life and swirl it about a bit. Dash out the kitty door and get your feet dirty.  Tell us some good stories come Monday.

I'll be stirring up my own....

Oh darn I don't think Mom will fit through the cat door. But that does sound like a good idea. We just hope she doesn't mix up the cat food with the food for those guys with long ears.
We loved your comment about, Let's get the darn scans over with. That is so like the mom feels. Have a super day and week end.

So I am told by my loving spouse, along with the "you don't know how to have fun" thing.

Enjoy your mixing-up!

Go Hobbes! Show the world how to have fun every day of the week!

Things are mixed up enough here right now without adding any more. We will spend the weekend going through stuff and tossing. As minimalist as we are, since we had that closet built in the basement, we tend to put "maybe" stuff in there. By Saturday night it will all have gone bye-bye! And yeah. for us it will be fun!

Not this weekend; I've got the library fundraiser tomorrow. Been baking cupcakes, baking pies and will be selling soap at the craft fair. If I never see another apple after all the pies I have baked in the last two weeks I will be a happy woman

We got snow and I have to admit, I don't think I am going to head out there and mix it up. Unlike Hobbes, I can't stand snow and I don't have a handsome fur coat to keep me warm.

Catherine--I know I am!

Marg--I hate tests. I hate the worry and the waiting and not hearing from the doctor. I hope it all goes quickly for ya, pally.

Vanilla--Really?? You may just be holding back a bit. ;)

Melodie--Nah, that was LAST weekend! I'm gonna low-key it this weekend.

Diane--Homeboy sure loves outside! Any day he can go outside is a good one for him. And if there is snow......

Grace--Yeah, it sounds like there may be too much mixing it up over there! I'm a tosser too--so have fun cleaning house.

Nancy--We just laughed at him--he's so darn silly. I don't know what the heck he is doing!

Pricilla--That's lots of scraps for happy goats! ;) Sounds BUSY! I hope they raise lots of funds for the library!

Anne--I still like snow and I like going out in it. I'm like a kid--gotta make snow angels first.

Silver--Uh oh--what are you up to???

Beaded Tail--I LOVE that! :) I've got to remember that.

I love the funny snowprint Hobbes made!

As much as I admire Hobbes and his view on life, I think I will have my fun indoors where it's warm this weekend :)

Now that is a story in the snow that I'm glad you were here to interpret for me. What fun!

Daisy--Sharla said he was making snow angels. I like that. :)

Ann--Well, when there is snow out there, he is only out there for a short time. He goes out, mixes it up, and runs back in minutes later! He isn't that brave!

Sharkey--I have seen him do it enough times to know what it is. I just laugh when I see his snow prints now.
