Shhhhhh. If you listen carefully, you can almost hear them snoring.
Typically, I don't see a little frog head appear until March or April, but these "warm" days have interrupted the winter slumber party for a few frogs. I actually saw a little guy sitting out in the rain the other day--a rare occurrence for Chicago in January. It's such an odd winter this year.
Heck, January is a week down and we haven't had an accumulation of snow yet--which is really strange. I almost miss it. I think.
Remember last year around this time?
You know it's bad when you have to shovel the pond heater. I have to keep an air hole open so that the gasses from the pond can escape, otherwise the fish, frogs, and snails can die from lack of oxygen. I think we had 3 feet of snow over the top of that thing last year. Yuck.
I think I will stop complaining about the warm winter now. It's all perspective, people.

I'm loving it. Not stuck inside, warm weather for Chicago winters. Let's keep it going. I think I need to move
It's kinda cute to see those little fellas snooping around when they ought not be!
Not complaining here either. Perhaps snow accumulating for February and March?
Hello froggy :)
We're having an unusual winter as well. Lots of rain, no snow (thank goodness) and mild (well relatively) temps!
I've been watching the birds checking out my birdhouses--too soon little guys. Phyl
We are headed to 61 degrees here in Roanoke today... pretty insane for January weather.
I woke up to snow yesterday. Just a tiny bit, and it was basically all gone by the time I left the house (and ALL gone by the time I got home). I'd have preferred no snow...but I can't complain too much.
I hate *S* - didn't used to but time and circumstance change your experience and perspective. Stay in the moment!
Yea, it has been a warm and weird winter. We'll get a few cold days followed by weather in the 40s and 50s. Strange, but like you say, not so bad:)
I am thrilled with the warm weather but I am not a frog. I hope they will be okay, waking up before their time. I have wondered about stuff like that since our winter has been warm too.
The last few days have been sunny and in the high 40ies to low 50ies here. In Montana!
We haven't seen this much sun in a winter since we moved here.
Believe me, I am NOT complaining.
It was nice here yesterday but today is cold and foggy. There was even a layer of frost on everything. I guess it doesn't matter since I'm stuck inside until April!
That is one confused froggy! I miss the snow.
Wow, you have it *really* warm. We've had more late rain than usual that would normally be snow at this time of year, but overall pretty chilly. Had a couple of inches of snow in the past couple of days too, so it does look fairly wintery now.
So true...warm weather spiced with bitter cold temps is major strange.
I worry about my goldfish and frogs. They don't know if they should hibernate or swim free. Neither do I.
You haven't had any snow yet? Not fair....lol
I shouldn't complain though because we've only had to shovel once so far
I'm loving this warm winter we're having . . . and only two months now until spring!
