More Foot Fun With Lin

I'm all about independence. Really I am.

As my kids get older, I like that they are making their own decisions and living by the consequences. I like that they know how to cook a few things, feed themselves, drive on their own to wherever they need to be, call in their own prescriptions, and do their own laundry.  That's the part of them growing up that I like--needing me just a little less with each day. I can handle that.

I do have a wee problem with independence when my body parts start doing their own thing independently of the other parts.  You know, I had this small issue of not being able to sit down for, oh, 7 or 8 months--which was sort of a drag. But I dealt with it--got that tailbone to work with the muscles nicely again.

Then I had/have GERD--which is basically my stomach acids doing their own thing--causing havoc with my esophagus and throat and such. Daily meds make that group cooperate.

Now I'm dealing with this toe that has decided to do its own thing. Look at my stupid second toe. (Well, not the scratch. I have no idea how I scratched my toe--but then again, I had no idea how I broke that foot this summer either.)  Isn't that toe ridiculous?

Really, toe? What is with that?  Are you just fond of the letter "r" that you need to imitate it?  Do you like yoga or something? I mean, why can't you just be like the other toes and just line up all nice and straight and such. Why must you go all wiggly and look wacky?  Is it just for attention?  Do you like the big toe more than the third toe? Criminy.

Sigh.  This is the lovely things I inherit from my ancestors.  Thank you, Grandma, for the wacky toes.  Oh no--don't pass me the cottage by the lake or the huge trust fund--just give me some crappy feet that look funny when I wear flip-flops.

Good thing I saved that big shoe from my stress fracture this summer. I have a feeling I'm gonna be wearing it again soon.

Phew I thought ya broke it again or something. The toe is fine. Just don't do the thick lumpy ankle thing.

Your toes look fantastic. You should see my weird look toes all curled up in funny positions from having horses step on them all the time. We think that toe is terrific. LOL. Take care and have a great week.

I like how your toe is like a model...against the flowers!

sigh... it's always so sad when the body parts start doing their own thing. Darn genetics!!! :(

I like your Frankentoe. You even have the stitches/scar thing going on that Frankenstein has. All you need is a bolt sticking out of it.

I love that you paint your nails. I can't do that, at least not on two of them. I haven't had a decent pinky toe nail in years.

Rock it, sister!

The gorgeous way you paint your nails is a total distraction, I assure you. I noticed the scratch, but I didn't notice the curve until you said it in the post!

Well, that crooked toe just makes you unique. With those pretty painted toenails....who cares?!

That little piggy that stayed home is only trying protect the owie (scratch) from hurting more. (At least you don't have the huge bunions that adorn my feet.) All that little piggy needs is love.

I have seriously deformed toes that go in all different directions - the result of pointed-toed stilettos I wore every day for 35 years!

Feet are funny. Sorry, I got distracted by the photo. Your toenails look fabulous. Did you do that special for the photo or do they always look like that. My body is starting to do its own thing too. I guess it's falling apart.

Mine does that when I get a cramp. It moves out of the socket and then tries to get in the socket of the big toe.

mighty uncomfortable.
MIGHTY uncomfortable.

Then I have to get it to stay back where it belongs. Ick

Though I think of you to some degree as a humor writer, I somehow suspect I am not supposed to laugh this time.

Nice paint job!

I've never understood what made people decide some feet look nice and others don't... they're feet! My toes do that when I get a cramp, so it looks very painful to me. Now, that is an issue. But you don't mention that it hurts. Nice polish, though. P.S. I have my grandmother's hammer toes.

As long as you have a pretty pedicure, how the actual toes look is not important!

Meh. Your toes have personality.

Could be that the toe was feeling neglected and wanted to become a blog topic. Now that it's dream has come true maybe it will straighten itself out. Or then again, maybe not :)

Well, that's quite an interesting toe! It reminds of Mork and Mindy for some reason. :) I forgot you had that tailbone issue. I have a tailbone issue now too after last tax season and it makes it painful to sit. Ugh!

Helene--Yeah, but it hurts. :( I think it's the beginning of something not good. Bummer.

Marg--I think this toe is gonna start curling next. It hurts already, which isn't a good sign.

Diana--Yeah, isn't that funny. I was out taking photos of Hobbes when I decided to take this photo of my toe. Somehow I think Hobbes is cuter against the flowers.

Catherine--Thank you, Grandma! I think you get your feed genetics from your grandparents. Ugh.

Kathy--I like that--Frankentoe. I am now referring to it that way. hee! hee! I have been known to paint skin, Kathy--it is all about appearances. :)

Violet--Really?! I thought everyone was looking at my wacky toe. :) I'm gonna put on more polish now....

Hot Rocks--But that toe hurts! with or without polish. :(

Chuck--Oh, click on the photo and look on the scar that runs down the length of my big toe--bunionectomy. 14 years ago. Been there.

Grace--OWIE! I've got bad feet with no one to blame but my Grandma. I can't even THINK about stilettos!

Anne--These are my "summer toes"--with polish. Come winter, not so lovely. Once I hit 45--my body is sorta doing its own thing. I am not happy about that.

Pricilla--Yeah, this is like that--mine hurts too. I'm going to try a little brace I mail ordered. I wonder if it will go back on its own?

Vanilla--Well, it IS sort of funny that it is just going wacky and doing its own thing--even though it hurts a smidge. I've ordered a spiffy new brace for that toe--don't tell it--I'm gonna surprise it!

Sharkey--It does hurt, so I'm going to have to deal with this sooner than later. I ordered a little toe brace so hopefully I can avoid surgery. :( You have a nice Grandma like mine--they gave us our icky feet.

Daisy--But it is weird! And it hurts. :( I wish the pretty polish would make it better.

Cute--Yeah, but it's not a good one. I think I'm gonna have to get it fixed because it hurts. :(

Ann--What isn't a blog topic?!!! :)

Fran's Dad--Ohhhhh. I get it now! :P

Beaded Tail--Get yourself a cushion that allows your tailbone to sit without restriction. I have one that has saved my life. There is a cutout for my tailbone and I drag it everywhere--work, car, home, etc. It has made a HUGE difference. That and a good physical therapist who helped a TON! I hope you feel better.

Sorry you had so many health issues to deal with, but as long as your crooked toe doesn't hurt, I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe you broke it and didn't know it and it grew back crooked?

My toes all like each other quite well and stick together.

Karen--Bad toes run in the family and I think it is my turn....again. Had a bunionectomy years ago, so I had a feeling more was to come. It does hurt and so I will be forced to deal with it. :( Why can't they all just get along???!
