Happy Autumnal Equinox!

Oooooh, I love autumn--the crisp air, the smell of burning leaves, vibrant colors, pumpkins, Indian corn, scarecrows, and apples.  Just about everything good is going on in Autumn.

I was just saying to Joe last night that we have to start working on wrapping up the yard.  While I love summer, I do like sweeping up the place and tucking in the gardens for winter.  And yes, I will miss all the caterpillars and hummingbirds, I do need the rest. I think we all do. So, I run around like a little squirrel washing this, cutting back that, digging and moving the perennials, and packing the shed with our patio furniture. Such a busy time, fall.

Marching Season continues this weekend with another contest.  It's always interesting to see what our director has changed from last week, as he takes into account what worked, what didn't from what the judges had to say.  Every time we see it, something new is happening. And while that challenges the kids, it keeps it interesting for us all.  I just hope it brings us some awards--the kids deserve them for all of the hard work they put into that band.

Our pally, Vanilla, is out of commission for a bit, having had some eye surgery done.  Why not pop over and wish him well?  I'm sure he's got his best gal reading the comments to him while he recovers.  I offered to phone him up and read all the blogs together with him and then we could make goofy comments together, but I haven't heard from him on that one yet. But I'm waiting...

Happy Autumn, pallies. And Happy Weekend too.  Make the best of it--remember to breathe a bit. Turn off the computer and stick your nose in nature a bit.  Go see if you see some colors changing.  And if you live someplace where that doesn't happen....well....I dunno....go feel the sun on your face or something good like that.  Either way, just have fun.  I'm going to.

What a wonderful Pumpkin display!
Although I'm not much of an Autumn person, I do appreciate the "Indian Summer" colours. Besides it's been cold here all summer!
have a great weekend,
Duni

Yup those are some pretty gourds...I love Autumn. Even tho I live in the northeast (sorta) I have the a/c on today because it is so damp and the highs for next week hover in the high 70's/low 80's. It's kind of a dreary day today but that's okay because I have no where to be.

Enjoy your weekend. Don't smack anyone.

The leaves are turning here, but we are having fantastic weather...just like Summer right now with a high today of about 90F! Which is pretty darn good for the first day of Fall in my neck of the woods! I plan on enjoying every last minute before the snow flies! Have a good weekend my friend!

Yes, I do so love the fall! You're good for getting out there and closing up shop outside like that. I tend to be so sick of lawn work from the summer that I wait too long and everything has gone to seed and is a giant mess come Spring. I really need to follow your program.

Once I get over crying about summer ending I do love fall. The colors, the smells, it's all wonderful.
Enjoy your weekend

Sure, rub it in. No Autumn in Florida. But I like to pretend anyway, Happy Fall!

Duni--Really?! You don't like autumn?? Wow. Don't you like the colors and the smells and apple cider and Indian corn? It is my favorite season.

Grace--It's damp here too...and cold. Not a good combination. Mix in some metal bleachers and you've got yourself some hurtin' bones. :(

Hot Rocks--WOW! That is hot for fall! I like it when it stays around 65 for a few weeks. Then I can take my time doing the yard work.

Veronica Lee--Oh, I'm gonna have to go read all about your trip! I hope you had fun, pally. I'm glad you got to experience fall--isn't it lovely??

Silverthoughts--Yuck--the downfall of fall...a cold. :( That's okay, late fall smells better anyway! ;)

Helene--Awww, what a great milestone! I always let my kids keep their teeth. Told them they can re-use them when they are old and need dentures. :P I used to have my shopping done early AND wrapped too. But now, nobody knows what they want this early.

Pricilla--Oh, sorry, pally. Don't goats like to much on sweet maple leaves?? I can send you a bag if you like.

Violet--Oh, I love to be outside in the yard in fall. And the kitties like to help too, so it's more fun than work. Well, as long as it is nice and NOT raining!

Nancy--I love to clean up the yard, but I hate shutting down the pond. :(

Melodie--It's just starting here, so you aren't missing anything just yet.

Catherine--Oh, I actually like to go out and putter in the yard. And besides, I have Hobbes to help me!
He chases the leaves.

Sharkey--Yeah, me too. Our trees are just starting to think about changing. I've noticed the tips of the trees starting to change.

Ann--By the time September hits, I'm ready for summer and the hot weather to end. And I LOVE all the colors!

DJ--Aw, darn. Would you like me to send you a bag of leaves? :)

Nice photo. :)

The leaves here in my area haven't really changed yet, so it doesn't feel like autumn yet. It's been rainy, though! Still a tad humid. The old timers (husband included, now! LOL) says we'll probably have a whopper of a snow season, with all this humidity and rain... I don't mind snow but because I homeschool we don't get snow days. That's probably the only downer to homeschooling, lol.

Enjoy your crispy weather!

Beautiful photo. I love this time of year. Now I need a frost to make the mosquitos go away. They are horrible!
