Unlike Joe the Sasquatch that is typically in the background of my photos, I found this little surprise in one of my photos from the beach the other day. And do you know what's funny--that dude could totally be me these days--except I'm not a guy.
I'm pooped. I mean, really pooped. I'm so pooped I could fall flat on my face on the beach and sleep until next week. If someone let me. And the weather was really nice and not rainy or anything. And everyone left me alone. (That would be the best part)
Well, my co-worker left on maternity leave a couple of weeks ago, so I'm sort of helping out--as much as a rusty 'ol gal can. I'm learning new stuff and handling what I can in her absence, and then WHAMMO--the auditors decided that this would be the perfect time to stop by for a little visit. Really?! Like I'm not frazzled enough? Ugh.
You know, I do not like this working thing very much. I work part-time because I like the flexibility and the short hours. Really, I like leaving at 2:00 p.m. everyday--it makes me feel like I have a real life instead of just working. I'm not even sure there is enough money on this earth to make me work full-time. I just like being with my kids and doing things like fitting band uniforms or chaperoning trips. I even like taking a little nap with Grace every day. This job stuff pretty much just gets in the way I figured out.
I'm sort of anti-social when I get home these days, so that is why I haven't been around as much as I would like. So, if I'm not a good blog friend who visits and comments, if I don't call to chat with you for an hour, if I don't want to go shopping or answer emails or texts--you know why---
I'm busy sleeping on the beach!

Ugh! I know what you mean. I don't have holidays until September and while I don't want summer to go fast, I am longing to have some time off.
How come work always has to get in the way of life? :(
Happy Tuesday Lin!
xo Catherine
That truly sounds like the perfect idea to go fall asleep on the beach. Can't believe you had to deal with an audit. Yikes. Hope life gets better for ya. Take care.
Don't we all go through those periods when we just don't feel like being social? No judgment here!
You're SO lucky to be able to work just part time!!!
Sleep on the beach? I don't think so. I'd look like a lobster had washed ashore. Give me my recliner with kitty on my lap. The formula for restful sleep.
I usually just tell folks,"I am a hermit ,leave me alone!" LOL! I hope you are able to find some rest and peace!
Ahh auditors-gotta love em.
Sitting here on a fractured tailbone-wish I had even 1 hour off let alone work part time. Alex told me "Jim is going on the field trip with me because you're too busy working!" Poor kid.
I go through those periods and I don't work. I just take care of goats.
zzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzz! *snork*
You are going through what I go through in August when I have to go back to work. I understand, Darling. You just flop out and regain your mojo.
I was very happy when I switched from full-time to part-time - and I didn't have kids to care for. It kinda off-set all those years when I worked 7 days a week at 2 or 3 different jobs - ah, the good old days (Not!)
I certainly wouldn't mind working part-time now - not being productive is so depressing.
Won't you be getting any Summer vacation time?
Getting off work mid afternoon is so much easier than working all the way until 5. During the summer I just work Monday-Wednesday and enjoy 4 day weekends but even they go by way too fast. And there's nothing better than napping on a lazy Sunday afternoon with a kitty!
My Mommeh says work is hard. And boring.
Oh boy do I know what you mean. I have been dreaming about retirement A LOT lately but I've still got so far to go. I would love to just walk in and say I QUIT but I'm pretty sure they would stop paying me
Catherine--No kidding! Who invented work???! yuck.
Marg--Can you believe the audit???! Criminy. I think that girl had her baby on purpose. ;)
Violet--I am lucky with my job. They are very flexible and supportive, but I just hate when there is too much work. I'd rather have too much fun. :)
Chuck--Joe is like that--he lobsters too. It drives him crazy because I would just get brown. And does it get better than napping with your kitty friend? I think not.
Melodie--Well, I get really grumpy and folks get the message, but I think I need a "gone fishin'" sign or something for total peace.
Helene--Did you get a donut to sit on?? I have a special cushion that is cut out for my tailbone--ask your doctor about that. It relieves the pressure on your tailbone when sitting.
Pricilla--But taking care of the goats IS a lot of work!! But you can't call off on that job, can you?
Vanilla--I hope those darn seagulls don't poop on me.
Betty--I can't wait for this to be over and I haven't really begun yet. Ugh. You do this every year???! Yikes.
Grace--I do like working part-time, but I don't like the work load that is full-time. I'm sleepwalking too because it overwhelms me. I do have vacation coming. :)
Beaded Tail--It's amazing how the traffic increases just by staying an extra hour each day. I don't even want to think about what it is like at 5. Ugh. I like your summer schedule!
Daisy--It IS! Your mommeh is right a lot, Daisy!
Ann--I typically like my job because it doesn't infringe on my personal life too much and it gives me a little challenge when I'm there. This audit is putting me over the top, which I don't like. If you figure out how to get them to pay you without working, please let me know what the secret is, okay?
Good gosh I hope someone checked beach man with his face in the sand to make sure he was breathing still.
And, don't feel bad about being to tired... I'm to tired to even blog much these days. I can however work Excel 2007 like a pro, write a fab business letter (taking a class after all these year is...) and can mail merge like a sheriff can draw a gun.
Now take a nap!
I would love to leave at 2:00 every day. Agreed, it is the difference between having a life and not.
Auditors? I worked in accounting for 15 years. Remember that scene in Christmas Vacation when the grandparents show up and the Griswalds are in the house, realizing they are there and don't want to answer the doorbell? Auditors.
aw- i'm sorry you are tired. i think it comes from having teens, although you seem to like that.
Jodi--Dang! I'm impressed! I need to take an official class with Excel because I use it all the time at work and I have to figure it out myself. Good job!
Kathy--Yep, auditors are not on my fun list. They sure are causing me some work. Sheesh.
Sharkey--Surprisingly, it is work that is running me down. I'm doing things I haven't done before, so every day is like a new job. I'm POOPED! The teens are the easy part.
It's a little too hot to sleep on the beach here but I know what you mean. If I didn't have to be on drowning prevention patrol, I'd totally be passed out on a colorful pool float.
