The List

Okay, who decided that weekends should fly by super-fast while the work week drags on forever? Sheesh. Seems like it was just Friday and whammo--it's over. The weekend is gone. Sigh.

I am progressing nicely on my list of Fun Things I Wanna Do This Summer.  Accomplished this past week was:
  • Have an electrician install lights down our hallway. I dunno, 20+ years of not being able to see into my closets finally got to me.  Joe and I stand there in total awe of the new lights--we are very easy entertained. And yes, we turn them on and off just to appreciate the difference.
  • Spend 8 hours at John and Betty's house. Criminy, if Betty didn't have to go to work early the next day, I swear we'd still be sitting on their patio enjoying John's mosquito netting and those darn vodka gimlets.
  • I actually sat out in the sun with Emma for a bit. Okay, I know all about melanoma, but it just felt so good to have it warm and sunny for a change
Things I just didn't seem to get around to:
  • ironing (rats)
  • work I brought home to finish (well, I did some.....)
  • weed and deadhead the garden
And while I didn't get those things done, you can see I certainly my priorities in order and accomplished only the really fun stuff. I'm good like that.

We've been trying to knock out the have-tos like laundry and house cleaning on Fridays so that the weekends last a wee bit longer and that helps, but sheesh doesn't Monday come up to quickly?  AND it's the Fourth of July next week!! EEK!

Is it me or is this summer flying? Aarrggggh!

I can't answer your first question. That was decided long before I came on the scene. I think it's always been that way.
"Six days shalt thou labor..."

Second question: Yes. AArrggggh!

Closet lights are wonderful! I don't have any in mine either and it's so frustrating! Glad you have your priorities straight.

The 4th is next week? WHAT?>??

Your summer sounds wonderful! I have to say I am a little jealous,I just hide out in a darken house for 3 months waiting for it to pass because our temps are triple digits.Maybe if I found a shady spot in the afternoon and had some of those vodka gimlets...hmmmm...sound worth a try!

Yes, weekends fly by, way to fast!

As is summer. (If I can get my head out of boxes maybe it'll slow.)

While your sipping vodka gimlets, I spent my weekend perfecting the skill of mail merge. I have pefected...have another gimlet to celebrate that! :-)

It is flying, but at least, as you say, your priorities are in line. I have to remind myself all of the time that I won't look back and say to myself, "remember that summer you were so on top of the laundry?!"

Oh I totally understand about the closet lights! I don't have lights in my old closets (yet), but last year we got LIGHT SWITCHES in the bedrooms and I literally flipped!

You must have a strong constitution. I once smelled vodka and it smells like nail polish remover! How can anyone possibly drink that stuff?! Those Russians are nuts, lol.

Glad you had a relaxing weekend. :)

Summer hasn't gotten here yet. Doesn't really kick off until after the 4th. We had frost the other morning and it was in the 30ies this morning.
*sigh*

You iron??? I have an iron - brand new, still in the box. I bought it after my brother, who is an anal retentive neat freak, came to visit and wanted to re-iron all his clothes after unpacking his bag and I didn't have one. Of course he hasn't visited since then and it hardly matters because I don't have an ironing board. Oh well...

Ironing? What's that?

You DO have your priorities in order, Baby! And yes, summer is flying by. Eek!

I don't even remember having May this year and now June is almost over. Wish we could slow down time (and speed up tax season!). At least this weekend will be a longer one!

What summer? It feels like fall here some days. We usually sit outside after supper in the summer but it's been too cool to enjoy it. Sigh. Roll on July and August:)

Yours seems to be the common condition.

So cool that you're doing fun stuff. Wow, you didn't jump at the chance to do laundry? Amazing! LOL... I'd love to sit, chat and drink at a friend's house... I think I'm entertained by the small things as well. I would have stared at the lights too. :-D

My Mommeh does not iron. If she has something that wrinkles, she just takes it out of the washer and flattens it out and lets it hang dry. She might look king of rumpled some days.

I'm with you on those weekends flying by. Seems like if you blink it's gone.
I can't tell you the last time I ironed. I hate doing that.
I'm very glad to see you have priorities :)

While my husband attended a brief meeting this morning I sat on one of the shady benches downtown, reading a book. Seems like I never seem to take a minute to just stop and sit and breathe outside so I've added 'Enjoy my town' to my list for the summer. Its pretty. I have plenty of rainy fall days to dust and sort and clean things in.

I can't see in my kitchen pantry - its not even that big and it a huge pain. So good for you!!!! Your my hero :)

sorry I havent been commenting as much, I read but I don't comment as much - I was seriously blogging 7 hours a day and when Ben wasnt away any more there was more to do. Plus, it was such a wreck around here I had to weigh what I was doing - which was mostly sitting.

sigh. T

I think I should make a list like yours of stuff I want to do this summer when I have to stay mostly close to home. You were getting you Vitamin D.

I am horribly behind in the weeding. One of my helpful neighbors suggested perhaps I would like to hire someone to help me.

How thoughtful.

Well you know the household chores and gardening will always be there. All the other stuff should be much higher on the priority list. ;)

Vanilla--Why do those 6 days feel so long?? How come Saturdays can't last as long as Monday? We need to figure this out.

Helene--Will you QUIT with the Christmas thing already, Helene!!!! :0

Violet--These are just in the hallway--we couldn't see in the HALLWAY! And I lived like this for 20 years. It's crazy.

Melodie--Vodka gimlets are definitely a cure-all for the heat. :) I don't like it that hot--how do you stand it? Do you melt just a little?

Jodi--Oh, I know how to do a merge! I've merged full reports and spreadsheets. And look how proud I am of that! Hahaha! Congratulations on that accomplishment, Jodi. :)

Nancy--If I'm on top of laundry, then I'm behind on ironing. If I'm up on ironing, I'm behind on laundry. I can't win. I'm going naked to work tomorrow. Sigh. I'm with ya, pally--let's just have fun and forget the laundry.

Rebecca--These are just hallways lights--we couldn't see in the hallway!! Either we lived in the dark for 20 years or my eyesight is getting worse. I think it's a combination of both. I don't drink vodka straight, but with a little sweetened lime juice, it is good. :)

Pricilla--Yikes. As beautiful as it is there, I think that would bum me out. Hey--got my soap today--THANK YOU!!! :)

Grace--I'm with your brother. I actually carry a travel iron with us on vacation. I just can't be wrinkled.

Betty--I like my stuff ironed, Betty. I know, I know--it's demented, but I don't ask anyone else to do it for me. I like ironed clothes and sheets hung outside on the line. Mmmmmmm....:)

Beaded Tail--Yeah, why is summer so short and winter so long??? I'm making plans for every weekend so we make sure this summer is well-played out. :) Too many summers disappear.

Mary Ann--It's been cool here too, but not that cool. It's cool then super hot--weird, weird weather. But it makes for nice sleeping!

Chuck--Yep, but is there a cure??

Petula--It's so nice after all those years of raising the kids and staying home, we can actually go out and just enjoy our friends for a change. And drink. And eat without having to share. Or cut anyone's meat. There are some perks to having these kids grown.

Daisy--I can't leave things to air dry flat because somehow the clothes attract big clumps of orange or gray fur on them. Hobbes thinks that laying on things helps me "iron" them. Ugh. I'm weird like that--I like my clothes ironed and my sheets hung out on the line.

Ann--I don't like ironing, in fact I complain about it the whole time I'm doing it, but I do like ironed clothes. I think Joe needs a pressed shirt for work--it just looks more professional. I dunno--maybe it's just me.

Shieldmaiden--Amen, sister. You GOT it!! That's what I'm talking about!! :)

Tracy--I'm the same way these days, pally. I'm so busy at work, I can hardly move when I get home. I haven't been around the blogroll like I should either--but that is okay--especially if we are all doing it. ;) LOVE the new lights--amazing we lived like that before. Thank goodness for a good, inexpensive electrician!

Sharkey--We've all got to-do lists that entail work--my list is about fun. I think we all need to schedule more fun into our calendars.

Highway--HI, Pally!! I've missed ya. :) And that would be why I don't care much for neighbors. They can be so intrusive and ridiculous. I like mine better now that I don't talk to any of them.

Catherine--I get my house cleaned and the laundry done before we go anywhere on the weekend--it is mandatory. But it is amazing how fast everyone chips in to get it done when we have somewhere fun to go!

Just trying to be helpful snif-snif :-)

Helene--Helpful is starting my shopping for me!

Grace said...

Dear lord, a travel iron? I do not buy anything for myself that needs to be ironed or dry cleaned. I started sending my husbands must-be-ironed shirts to the laundry/dry cleaner years ago! My time is worth more than the cost to send them out. Of course I do a way better job since I've started ironing when I was 6 but still...

Give me the money and I'll head for the gift card aisle. What?!?!??? You're not going to adopt me into the family with me buying gift cards and not fun presents???
