While we celebrated the end of the school year, the beginning of summer, graduation and a retirement, we celebrated friendship as well. You know you are in for a good time when the wacky band parents are invited--and they didn't disappoint. Highlights include:
- While there is rumor of Betty and I talking to the tree in Wendy's backyard, I'm officially setting the record straight in telling you that we were admiring the carving that was done on it last year. There was no "talking to the tree", people.
- "Adults Only" in the jumpy thing. Yes, they booted the kids out so some adults (Joe included) could enjoy acting like goofs.
- Steve and I singing karaoke "You're the one that I want" from Grease. I didn't think it was that bad, but others disagree.
- John went home for a jacket and came back with vodka and lime juice for vodka gimlets. It sorta went south from there.
- Running out of said vodka and sending someone, anyone to find more. We actually thought of doing a faux "scavenger hunt" at the neighbor's house to ask for more vodka, but we didn't think they would find us very funny.
- Jonathan digs up a 30 year old bottle of Skol vodka for us to use. The price tag read $6.99--that tells you a) how old the thing was and b) how bad it tasted. John now refers to this as "Emergency vodka"--it was like drinking turpentine.
- Laughing 'til it hurt until the kids got bored and drove us home. Kids can be such buzzkills sometimes.
And while we had a blast this weekend, I'm gonna need a few days to rest and recover.

Geez I miss all the fun. All we have around here (or use to) are emergency beer runs--and I don't drink so I always get to enjoy it sober. Not good.
And you WERE talking to the tree!!!!!!!!!!!
Sounds like a great weekend. We chew through vodka in the most obscene way at all of our parties. Every time I think I am stocked, we still end up empty after the fact.
I need to look into vodka gimlets. I am a long time cosmo girl, but I could use a change.
Glad you had a good time. I think emergency vodka is only to be used for disinfection in case of said emergency
You kids and your parties....Sounds like a blast! Band Parents Rule!
Oh, I've sang with you before. I'm sure you were great! -- Taylor Terry
Wow, sounds like the adults had a way better time than the kiddos;)
Your parties always sound like so much fun! Glad you had a great time!
Ya definitely gotta pace yourself now, don't ya? If I indulge a little much, it sets me back for a few days too, but by the next weekend, we're all ready again, right?!!
Joe was in the jumpy thing and you didn't get pictures for your palies?
You sure know how to have a good time Lin. Next party I have, you're invited :)
Wow- I think I get enough pain from bad things. Sounds like you got pain from partying.
You have to have a little fun sometimes, right??
HAHAHA!!! Good for you! Sometimes we all need to let our hair down and just have a good time! I'm glad you did; uh, did you get a video of that singing? That would be fun to share!
:) hope you are re-cooperating!
Helene--Emergency liquor runs are not nearly as funny if you are sober, Helene. Ask the tree.
DG--The vodka gimlets went down easy, I have to say. You need a good quality sweetened lime juice though. And DON'T get 30 year old Skol vodka!!
Pricilla--Hahaha! Yeah, and it probably wasn't even good for that!
Betty--We have a fun bunch from band. I have never laughed so hard with anyone as I do with them. :) It's nice.
Taylor Terry--I was great--it was Steve who wasn't. ;P
Nancy--Yes, I think you are right. They were all just rolling their eyes at us. Secretly, I think they think we are hilarious.
Beaded Tail--It's a good group. And we always do something silly. I'm just glad nobody broke an arm or anything in the jumpy. That would have been a story, eh?!
Violet--Oh, I'm dying! We had 3 parties this weekend! What is with that???!
Ann--I think someone was taking photos, but I don't remember who. I'm thinking they may be something we regret later. :) I wish you lived here--you'd be FIRST on my invite list!
Sharkey--But I wasn't hung over, which was good. I just had so much fun laughing and being silly. I guess that is good pain, eh? And after drinking the vodka, my sore foot suddenly didn't hurt so bad!
Chocolate--Yeah! It was good fun. My heart is full from being with good friends and fun people.
Tracy--Yeah/no. The singing was NOT good, Tracy, so I will spare you that. I was dancing though--which I'm sure was a LOT better. ;) It was a good weekend!
Hmmm.... I think I could have used some of your emergency vodka today Lin. ;)
xo Catherine
I love the play by play happenings at the party. So you can or can't sing?LOL!
BTW...Your comment on my blog was sent to moderation. I published it and now can't find where it posted. Blogger is acting strange.
I would've loved to hear you sing and maybe sang along!! Hehe - the ulitmate Japanese torture!
You're the one that I want o ooo!
I would've picked 'Hopelessly Devoted To You!"
Sounds like my kind of weekend! I can't wait till the kids are old enough to drive us home.... I can't even drink on date night since I have to drive the sitter home at the end of it all. Sigh.
Believe it or not, I was talking to a tree this morning. Seriously, we have dubbed one of the trees in the house the "TREE OF TRUTH" and Graham goes to it for tips on fighting Darth Vader. Then I have to talk like I'm the tree and answer him and I'm not sure if he really thinks it's the tree talking.
Catherine--Uh oh. That doesn't sound good. :0
Jean--Well, I thought I could sing. Apparently Steve and I cannot. :( Haters!
Veronica--Steve picked the song, but I thought we did great. Apparently the crowd didn't think so. :(
Casey--That is some scary stuff you've got going on over there, Casey.
