Word to your Mutha'

Nothin' like horrid matching skirts, orange draperies, and some funky floral chairs to honor Mother's Day. Sigh. We were some happenin' chicks, weren't we?

Here's to you, Mom, and all those other Mom's out there, who are honored on this day. And here's to the toughest job on earth--motherhood.

Oh Lin, I had the same outfit. Almost EXACTLY the same. I think I ripped it up the back jumping off the bed. I was a handfull. I deserved the fashion of th 70's for all I put my mom through.

Have a Happy Mother's Day!

My mom was so cool, we never had matching mother/daughter outfits! Thank you, mom! Happy Mother's Day! I agree, being a mother is the hardest job in the world, but also I think the most rewarding.

We're wishing your Mom a Happy Mommy Day from MomKat Trish and the crew at the Katnip Lounge!

And you know, I had many of the same outfits! No floral chairs, though...

You can tell by your expression that you were unbelievably happy in that moment, and I love it!

But yeah, nothing was subtle about that era. ;)

Wow- that looks like the midwest in the 1970's for sure! But isn't there something special about dressing like your mom? Even if styles change.

You were blessed to grow up in that era when mother-daughter matching outfits were de rigeur! I mean, that is cool.

Helene--Happy Mom's Day, Helene! Please, do not encourage G'ma Phyl.

Betty--Happy Mom's Day, Betty! Yeah/no. For some reason, I'm thinking Em would have NO part in this matching thing. We are some snappy dressers, aren't we??!

DG--Happy Mom's Day, DG! These were happenin' back in the day! And I thought we looked great. :) But we also thought those chairs and drapes were cool too. Sigh.

Karen--I think you are secretly jealous of me and my mom, Karen. I'll bet my mom still has that skirt in her closet--I can ask her for it for you if you want. ;) hee! hee!

Katherine--Happy Mom's Day to you too, pally!

Melodie--We were stylin', eh?! Sorta like the Brady Bunch but without all those brothers and sisters. :) Happy Mom's Day!

Pricilla--Happy Mom's Day, pally! I'll bet it is nice to have those little ones around these days! :)

Katnip Lounge--Happy Mom's Day! I'm not sure what is scarier--those chairs or our skirts. :)

Beaded Tail--Happy Mom's Day to you too, pally! I hope you are hanging out with Sadie, Isabella, and Angel today. :)

Violet--Happy Mom's Day, pally! I thought those matching skirts were IT! Isn't that funny how horribly bad they are in hindsight? :)

Rebecca--Happy Mom's Day, Rebecca! You don't like my skirt????! Sheesh. I'll bet they come back in style one of these days. hee! hee!

Ann--Happy Mom's Day, Ann! We were some snappy dressers, eh? Hee! Hee! If I remember right, I think we even had a dress like that for my Barbie too. Oh, the madness never ends!

Chuck--Thanks, Chuck! Too bad we didn't have our skirts to wear today. :(

Sharkey--Happy Mom's Day, Shark! We didn't do the matching thing very much, but I do remember thinking this was really cool. Funny, I don't remember doing that with my daughter. She can thank me for that. :)

Vanilla--I also grew up when hot pants and go go boots were cool too. :) Fashions in the 60's and 70's ROCKED!

I hope you had a fabulous day yesterday!

I had three daughters and I would dress them all in the same outfits, and me in something that sort of matched. It was the thing for mothers and daughters to do.

OMG...what a classic!!!! You should win an award for that picture Lin! That is just way too funny! Not sure which is worse, the skirts or the decor. But you still look very cute!

Nancy said...

Awh, is that G'ma Phyl??? How adorable:)

Lin said...

Zach--Thanks, pally! Me and G'ma Phyl are certainly "special". ;)

Fish--I did! Thanks, pally!

Jean--We are some snappy dressers, aren't we?? And decorators too!

Sherrie--I did! I hope you did too, pally!

Marilynne--That was big back then, wasn't it?! Now--not so much. Although I think we dress our kids too much like adults. Okay--you'll have to post a photo of your girls for us.

Hot Rocks--Hey, at least we didn't make our clothes out of drapes like Maria Von Trapp! Can you imagine???! Ugh.

Nancy--That's G'ma Phyl back the day. We is stylin'!!
