I'm-Never-Wordless Wednesday

Maybe this is just taken for granted in those exotic locations like Malaysia and Hawaii that have year-round color, but color here after a long winter is downright intoxicating.  Add in the fragrance that we miss 6 months out of the year and folks here are all walking around sniffing the air like a bunch of hound dogs in heat.

While I would love to have that lilac and cherry blossom fragrance year round, I wonder if you appreciate it like we do this time of year.  I've got a plant on the side of my house that literally only blooms for a week or two, and for those two weeks, I suck in more air  by those plants than I do the whole rest of the year--I just can't help myself. Okay, so the other part of the year it smells like dog crap because my idiot neighbors don't believe in pooper-scooping, but I'm in hog heaven for the smell of those flowers for these two weeks.

All the trees are in bloom now, so mix in the lovely colors with the glorious fragrance and it's like heaven.  My eyes and nose are happy dancing.

And while the trees are showing off, the garden is just beginning.....

You know I bet we wouldn't appreciate it as much if we had it all year long. Still doesn't make putting up with snow for all those months any easier. Guess we'll just have to breathe deep and enjoy it while it lasts.

Makes it hard not to choose Spring as the favorite season!

[wv: squoup, which I suppose is pronounced "skwew up"]

It's true that our flowers are evergreen but they are not quite as big or beautiful as your Spring flowers.

Beautiful pic, Lin!

You have my permission to roll around naked in these.

I always find myself looking for Hobbes in these pictures. I fully expected a contented little stripey head to be peeking out from amongst the blossoms.

Even Hawaii has its seasons. Different flowers bloom at different times....

The grass is just starting to come up here. The goats are happy

Ann--I think this is our bonus for enduring all that snow and ice, Ann. I wish I could share that fragrance on the side of my house with you--it is divine!

Catherine--These are phlox, and yes, they are incredible!! And the color is even better. :)

Vanilla--I'm still gonna go with Fall as I love the smell of leaves almost as much. Add in the cool crisp air after a long summer--ahhhhh. :) Spring is a close second though for me. I love the WV!

Veronica--I always think of you when I think of fragrant flowers and eternal greenery. I am sincerely jealous of you, Veronica. Maybe I need to come stay with you for the winter!

Betty--Oh, heck. Why not?! Hobbes does all the time!

Shieldmaiden--I'm trying to keep him from squishing these lovely things!! He likes to lay on them. Ugh.

Katherine--I love the plants and trees that bloom this time of year. I don't think I even appreciate it all that much during the summer. But right now.....mmmmmm

Grace--Me too! I wish I had a lilac bush.

Pricilla--I need to borrow a goat or two for my lawn. Does anyone want to come visit Aunt Lin???

Lovely! I sure appreciate it! We didn't get much for winter, but we don't have much for plants anytime of the year in my hood. I swam outside today for the first time of the season and I was struck with the sweet smell in the air. This time of year is so happy:)

I just want you to know that when I got in my car after school the temp read 101*. Once I started going with the windows down it dropped to 94*. It's so bloody hot on this side of the river I can't see anything, even pretty spring colors, past the sweat dripping in my eyes.

Hot Rocks--I feel like a bee sticking my nose in all the flowers!

Sharkey--I like lilacs. And peonies. I love to cut some and put them in the house. Heavenly!!

Nancy--You swam OUTside???! Like NOT inside?? Yikes. It's warm here, but not that warm!

Those flowers are a gorgeous color! I love the smell of spring flowers and spend a great deal of time out sniffing the lilac bush.

Hey, you're always welcome!! Just state the date!

Beaded Tail--I feel like the kitties lately, with my nose to the breeze, eyes closed, smile on my face.... It's nice to see color again and actually be able to take a deep breath without freezing my lungs. :)

Veronica--Malaysia wouldn't know what hit it, pally! Why do I think we would be dangerous together????! :)

Well...I must say, the outdoor pool and deck is also heated. Would Phelps have it any other way? ;)

Those flowers are so gorgeous! I think we definitely appreciate flowers more because we have them for such a short time.
