Semi-Wordless Wednesday--Snappy New Hat!

Look what Merry made me!!! Isn't it just the snappiest hat that you have ever seen?! I'm gonna be the envy of everyone during marching season--including the adults.

And not only did she make this hat for me, but she also sent me some snappy new mitts to go along with it. Thank you, Merry. See--I told you I was wearing it already!

Merry ROCKS!

Canadian usage
Main article: tuque

In Canada, toque, or tuque (play /ˈtuːk/), is the common name for a knit winter hat. The Canadian English term was assimilated from Canadian French tuque. Toque first appeared in writing around 1870.[1][2][3]

The fashion is said to have originated with the coureurs de bois, French and Métis fur traders, who kept their woollen nightcaps on for warmth during cold winter days. Such hats are known in other English-speaking countries by a variety of names, including beanie (American), watch cap or stocking cap; the terms tuque and toque are unique to Canada and northern areas of the United States, close to the Canadian border.

Up in here in these parts, we call that a toque. You look very cute, Lin.

Marg--Heck, I'm wearing it NOW, Marg! :) Okay, so I'm sweating....maybe I should wait until fall?

Jodi--Isn't it cute??! Can't WAIT until it gets cold enough to wear it!

Diana--Go ask Merry. I'll bet she'll make you one. :) Pretty soon that whole drum line will want one too!

Highway--You can't be sad and wear that hat. It's just a happy hat!

Nancy--I think you could make one and we could be twins, Nancy!

Veronica--Oh, you gotta go ask Merry. I'll bet she'll make one for ya--she is so darn nice. But isn't it a little warm there for a knitted hat???

Chuck--Not hiding is the idea, Chuck. :P

Daisy--I wonder if Merry can make little hats for cute little kitties like you, Daisy???! Wouldn't that be cool???! I think so.

Grace--I don't really wear them until Marching Season. Then the wackier the better. I've had an Elmer Fudd hat for the last few seasons. I can't wait for fall now!

Pricilla--And walking around at football games and contests! I can't wait!! :)

Tracy--Isn't it??! You just can't be sad and wear that hat. :)

Merry--It's the BEST! And so are you! Thank you a cabillion times over, pally! :) Look how many pallies want one too--you may be very, very busy after today.

Betty--Yes, but what will YOU be wearing on your head??? hmmmmmmmm?

Jo--Isn't it fun??! Hey, what is your son doing this fall? Is he going to college? I haven't talked to you in AGES!!! Hope all is well!

Mary Ann--:) Thank you. I think so. It's a little kid hat that Merry adjusted for me. How fitting, eh?!

Beaded Tail--Oh, I think I'm going to be the envy of every kid in the place. Em and her friend, Caroline, were already snagging it from me!!

Catherine--Thanks, pally! I can't wait for fall to come! Sigh.

Ann--Merry makes them for kids and she adjusted the pattern for me! Just think--kids and me are stylin'! I don't usually like hats unless they are fun. THIS is FUN!

Karen--Yeah, I think Joe will be able to find me now. Or not. :P hahaha!

Hot Rocks--I know what a tuque is from Bob & Doug McKenzie!! I am soooo calling this my tuque now! Thanks, Susan!

Hat is definitely unique; and you model it beautifully. Are you sure you're not wishing for a late spring snowfall?

I LOVE THAT HAT!!! We have a bunch of silly hats around the house. We have a cow hat that has a bell on it. We have a WWI hat made from metal. We have a turkey hat. Did you ever see our turkey hat? I think you'd love it. I can dig up a photo if you want to see it. ;)

Oh, who is this Merry person? I need to get in good with her, that hat is awesome.

Snicker. That hat is pretty snappy, but now all I can picture you as is a Santa's elf.
