I welcome this Memorial Day like I do all the others--with quotes from Kelly's Heroes, my all-time favorite war movie. If you are wondering, yes, it is on today--you can find it on TCM. I highly recommend watching it.
And while I will be wishing I was on my couch quoting Donald Sutherland, I will be instead on enemy territory, staining the fence. For some reason, the neighbors on the back side always seem to have issues with us staining the fence--you'd think they would want the cedar fence to look nice. Go figure. Wish me luck, as these are new neighbors and have given us the official okey-dokey to step on their property to do this. We'll see....
Enough with the negative waves! I'm off with brush in hand......
Oh...Happy Memorial Day, pallies. May you all take a minute or two to reflect on those who gave their lives for our freedoms.

Glad you are out early - Don't know what your weather is like today but ours is super hot and humid - not the sort of day for outside endeavors!

My neighbour won't let us stain the fence between our properties. It has been like that for about 25 plus years:( Until recently he decided to do part of it himself. The part that can be seen from the street. I got all excited because I thought that maybe they were selling their house. Still waiting to see what's going to happen next.
We used to stain our neighbors side of the fence until we realized they didn't appreciate it so why make it nice for them so now we just stain our own side. Hope your staining goes well! Enjoy your holiday!

I love war movies. Not cuz I like gore, but because I love history. My favorite has got to be Bridge on the River Kwai. Guns of Navarone with Gregory Peck is also amazing. I haven't heard of this one with Sutherland. Will have to look it up.

Good luck staining and don't get that crap on you! We used a bug sprayer to stain the swingset and I remember it dripping between my toes and sticking them together. Eww.
I hope Hobbes stayed away from the stain, he's already the perfect shade of orange.
Pricilla--It was brutal! Guess who is gonna be stiff tomorrow??
Vanilla--I hate neighbors. I mean why wouldn't you want a lovely cedar fence lining your property--all cared for and maintained? It's just weird.
Grace--Yeah, it was super hot and humid. I'm sunburned and crabby tonight. :(
Catherine--Everyone chipped in, so we got it done with a few tunes and some laughs. It's an awful job, but it is DONE!
Mary Ann--This is our fence and we just want to maintain it. The last neighbor kept calling the police on us with really weird accusations with that darn fence. I nearly took it down just to end the madness. These new people were cool about it and let us go on the easement to stain our fence. Neighbors are weird, aren't they?? Ugh.
Beaded Tail--I stain it to preserve the fence and protect it's longevity. I wanted to tear it down with the problems we had with the last neighbor, but these people seem a bit nicer. Whew! They actually said it looked nice on their side. Hooray!
Ann--It was not fun, Ann. :( But it got done! Hooray! Boo on working on holidays.

Petula--Happy Memorial Day, Petula! I hope you relaxed a bit. The staining job was awful, but it is done!! Hooray!
Rebecca--This is a light-hearted war story with a boat-load of stars in it! Definitely a good one to watch. I personally like sub movies the best.
Sharkey--Not energetic as much as just maintaining the fence because we need to. We got it done with help from the kids. :) Yeah! I'm gonna be sore tomorrow.
Casey--Joe found some wipes called "oops" and they worked GREAT! Wiped that stuff off your skin GREAT! I'm not even dottie tonight! And neither is Hobbes. ;)
