Like you need to know more? Sheesh.

I snagged a meme from chauceriangirl--a new pally. She did this one this past week and I sort of liked it. Copy and paste away if you please--I'll be curious to see your answers.

1. Were you named after anyone?
I think my mom liked a song with my name in it. I dunno. I'm not big on it so I changed the formal "Linda" to "Lin". I dropped the "duh".
2. When was the last time you cried?
I cry a lot because I'm a softy, so crying for me doesn't always have to be a bad thing. I think my last cry was at the band banquet last week. Gonna miss those darn kids.
3. Do you like your handwriting?
Oh yeah. Give me a fine tipped Sharpie and my world is complete. And others ask me to write things for them so I guess they like it too.
4. What is your favorite lunch meat?
Ack. Don't like sammiches or lunchmeat.
5. Do you have kids?
Yep. Two. Three if you count Joe.
6. If you were another person would you be friends with you?
I'm kinda hard to know for the masses. You have to be a tolerant person to be my close friend. But yes, I'd be my friend.
7. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
Uh, yeah.
8. Do you still have your tonsils?
Nope. 5th grade and they were goners.
9. Would you bungee jump?
Nope. I'm a big chicken.
10. What is your favorite cereal?
Lucky Charms. They're magically delicious, you know. But oatmeal is my first, albeit healthy, choice for breakfast.
11. Do you untie your shoes when you take them off?
Nope.
12. Do you think you are strong?
Physically not so much anymore, which bothers me. I am strong in other ways though.
13. What is your favorite ice cream?
Ack. I don't like ice cream.
14. What is the first thing you notice about people?
Their spirit. I love happy, fun people who will laugh with me.
15. Red or pink?
Pink.
16. What is the least favorite thing about yourself?
My fat thighs and I expect a lot from myself and others.  Too much so sometimes.
17. Who do you miss the most?
Don. A former co-worker of mine--another old guy. He was the best.
18. Do you want everyone to send (link) this back to you?
Nope. If you want to use it, copy away my friend, but no links required.
19. What color pants and shoes are you wearing?
Snappy new capris that took me weeks to find. It's those thighs again. Sigh.
20. What was the last thing you ate?
Pizza and a cold beer. Heaven after a long day in the yard.
21. What are you listening to right now?
Hobbes snoring in his basket.
22. If you where a crayon, what color would you be?
Probably a plum color.
23. Favorite smells?
Gardenias, peonies, cement after the rain, my cat's head and the back porch at the lodge in Cumberland Falls.
24. Who was the last person you talked to on the phone?
Wendy. We talk for hours when we get on the phone.
25. Do you like the person who sent this to you?
I think so. I'm new to her blog, but so far I like her. :)
26. Favorite sports to watch?
Baseball. Chicago White Sox in particular.
27. Hair color?
Brown with highlights. Everyone thinks it's blonde, but it's not.
28. Eye color?
Blue/green.
29. Do you wear contacts?
Nope.
30. Favorite food?
Breaded pork tenderloins--cold, the next day. Pure heaven.
31. Scary movies or happy endings?
Happy endings. I don't like being scared. Life is scary enough sometimes.
32. Last movie you watched?
The Phoenix. A cheesy AMC movie that Joe and I actually sat down to watch. We rarely do that.
33. What color shirt are you wearing?
Beige. With my snappy new capris.
34. Summer or winter?
Tough one. Summer for the pond, but I like snow too.
35. Hugs or kisses?
Hugs. But a kiss is nice too. Depends on who's doing the kissing.
36. Favorite dessert?
Not a big dessert fan, folks.
37. What book are you reading now?
"Whatever you do, don't run" . A book written by a Botswana Safari tour guide.
38. What is on your mouse pad?
Don't have a mouse pad.
39. What did you watch on TV last night?
Went shopping. No TV last night.
40. Favorite sound?
Believe it or not, a quiet house. But then again, I like the sound of my kids coming home. Then I can sleep soundly knowing they are safe.
43. Rolling Stones or Beatles?
Beatles.
41. What is the farthest you have been from home?
I went to Hawaii twice. That's pretty far from Chicago.
42. Do you have a special talent?
I can square dance. And tap dance. I can also make up words for songs on the fly. It makes my kids laugh.
43. Where were you born?
Oak Lawn, Illinois.
44. What time is it now?
6:01 p.m. on Sunday evening.  I'm settling in for the Apprentice finale.

We could be friends if it weren't for the Sox/Cubs thing. Oh well...

You don't like ice cream or dessert? But desserts are what I make best!

I too love the smell of gardenias - my wedding bouquet was gardenias (despite my husband's older sister saying "Eww - I hate the smell of gardenias - wasn't her freakin' wedding").

I can't believe you don't like dessert or ice cream. They are my favorite things. Feel free to send any chocolate my way.

Now I wanna see your writing!

I love that you're a softie, and I must see this tap dancing of yours!

Ok, the Apprentice finale...I didn't enjoy that so much, although John Rich was definitely my pick to win.

I wanna see your writing too! Mine is so horrible I can't even read it! I love that you are a softie because I am one too. And not liking ice cream or dessert, that I can't relate to! :)

NO DESSERT?!

Years ago I thought something like this would be GREAT to have all the family members fill out. Kinda like a self bio that would give interesting insight into our personalities. I especially wanted the elderly ones nearer the end of the conveyor belt to fill these out, so to capture before lost forever. If you recall, elderly in the 70's had a different temperament. They generally felt this stuff was personal, and the idea went over like a lead balloon :( Interesting how now we now have facebook and all, and people actually enjoy telling the world .........Fran's Dad

No ice cream!?!?! That is one of my favorites! (I get to lick the bowl).

You don't like ice cream? Oh my, I never knew anyone who didn't like ice cream.
I also have no idea what cement smells like after the rain. All I can smell after it rains is dead worms.

Helene--I'm a Sox fan, not a Cubs hater. Believe it or not, those are two separate things. Maybe we could just not watch baseball when we hang out.

Grace--I'm not really a sweets kinda gal, which is very opposite of my extended family. I would love to live somewhere where gardenias grow in the yard.

Anne--I can pass on chocolate too. Weird, eh? I can actually go for a ride with the family to the ice cream place and not get anything. Isn't that weird???

Violet--There is something about a fine-tipped sharpie that makes my writing get better. I love those things. I like "happy" dancing, hence the tap and square dancing abilities. You can't be sad and do either of those.

Beaded Tail--I come from a family of criers. My mom has been known to cry at Little League parades. I'm not much better.

Pricilla--Nope. Can totally pass on it, believe it or not. But I make up for the calories in other foods.

Fran's Dad--I think that is a GREAT idea--to have the family do this. I think you learn a lot about people by these things. I like reading them on other blogs.

Daisy--You can have my share, Daisy. I'll save it for ya! :) My kitties don't like it much either. We are weird.

Ann--I'll eat it, but it isn't something that I say "Hey, let's go get ice cream!". There are even times when my family all goes for a ride to get it and I pass. They think I'm weird too. The smell of rain on warm concrete only lasts for a bit--right after it starts. Once everything gets really wet, I only smell worms too. Blech!

Hmn...don't like sandwiches? Don't LIKE ICE-CREAM????? Who are you? Haha. J/K. It's just weird to not like ALL sandwiches and ALL ice cream. Book sounds interesting:)

Oh, we just watched the finale... thought it turned out as expected.. you?

I JUST stopped saying "they're magically delicious" (cause of you) and now you say it again.

I'm still an owner of tonsils but poor E got hers out last month. She's a trooper though.

Glad you dropped the Duh, it doesn't suit you.

RE: Growing Gardenias. I don't know what growing zone you are in but my mother had a gardenia plant in a large tub (actually it was a huge pail that detergent came in - huge) which she actually planted in the ground, tub and all as soon as the weather got warm and then in the fall she dug the whole thing up, tub and all, and brought it into the house for the winter.

It was always a very lush and healthy plant (gardenias have gorgeous glossy leaves) but only put out a few flowers. The one summer that she was away in California the damn plant just bloomed it's little heart out. I had gardenias floating in bowls all over the house and gave them to the neighbors. As soon as my mother came home the plant stopped blooming and never bloomed again but it was always big and green, hale and hearty. She had that plant at least 10 years - I think it never bloomed for her out of spite or something and she finally trashed it - out of spite or something.

Nancy--I know, I'm weird. And it's getting weirder as I get older. Now I don't like chocolate anymore either. Sweets just don't do it for me. The book is light reading--quick chapters and light stories.

Casey--I knew John Rich was gonna win. It was a weird show, wasn't it? I think you can't say "magically delicious" enough--start saying it again. Missed ya, pally. You really do need to come around more often!

Grace--I used to have them in pots and they did bloom, but winters were hard on them. I'd have to find really sunny windows, but they were still not happy. I spent a LOT of time trying to keep them happy--I guess I should have gone out of town instead!! Hahaha! Your poor mom.

Leanne said...

Really you don't like ice cream? We'd get along just fine except for that one.....

Marilynne said...

I'm going to try this on Marilynne's World. Thanks to you and your friend for the idea.

Thanks for visiting my other blogs too. One can't have too many friends when one is blogging.

Bossy Betty said...

Sarcasm? You? NO!!!!!!

I'll take your dessert. You can have my cold piece of pig.

Veronica Lee said...

What!?? Not a big dessert fan?!! Are you human?

I don't use a mouse pad either!

Tracy said...

Lin,
that was fun! I liked reading about you! but I have to say, I was disappointed you are not an ice cream fan! :)
I guess I have my post for later!

Marg said...

That is a fun thing to do. I don't like scary movies either. Happy endings are terrific. I cry all the time too which to me is a good thing. Take care. Have a great day.

Lin said...

Leanne--Hi, new pally! Well, actually it would work out because if we are friends, I would give you my share of all the ice cream....right? :)

Marilynne--Oh, I hope you do it--I'd like to see your answers. (hint: don't write about not liking ice cream--it freaks everyone out!)

Betty--I prefer to think of myself as "witty", Betty. It sounds better. :P

Veronica--I have a laser mouse--no pad needed. I always end up going off the edge of those things anyway. I don't have a sweet tooth, Veronica. Isn't that weird?

Tracy--It's funny, the ice cream thing is really shocking people. I'll eat it, but it isn't something I really enjoy. I can and do say "no" to it all the time. Weird, I know.

Marg--We have a lot in common, Marg. But the big question is...do you like ice cream???

Catherine said...

Very fun!

Faith said...

Awww! I like you, too. :) And you had me until the whole liking oatmeal thing.
