It's odd, but when I find myself searching through frog photos, I realize I'm in a period of change. Subconsciously frogs represent change to me apparently.
I'm feeling frazzled and disconnected. Lots of things are going on and lots of work needs to be done--both at home and at work. There isn't an extra hour in the day and everywhere I look, something needs to be done, handled, worked on or cleaned up. I guess that is spring, right? It's a busy time of year.
At work, change is the theme--my office bud, Jim, is retiring. In an office of many backgrounds, cultures and ages, it's Jim that I connect with most. But then again, I always end up palling around with the old guys--we just connect for some reason. We get the same jokes and references and laugh at the same stuff, while the rest of the office just stares. Sigh. I'm really gonna miss my pally. This is a tough loss on the work front--Jim is a good bud.
In the midst of that anticipated loss in mid-May, we have a plethora of temps stopping in and learning his job for a day or two--before bailing. Then there was the new safety guy that was supposed to sit in the cube next to Irene--but he bailed too. It's like a turn-style of possible co-workers. Irene and I are starting to take it personally.
Mixed in with the chaos in the back cubes is home with painting and wall washing. Sheesh, I'm tired. And I'm tired of change for now. It's just wearing me out.
I swear those frogs smile at me for a reason. I think they know something more than I do sometimes. That Mona Lisa grin warns me of upheaval and turmoil--both good and bad. And it's just weird how I am drawn to frogs when my life is most turbulent.

Just lost my entire comment cos it wouldnt log in.
In short-tell your boss I will work for free if he gets me out of here. I ran myself into the ground last days of tax time and my check today will not reflect my overtime. only part cos she hates paying me all at once. Then they were going to promote me to gpa's job cos of my degree. Data entry. If I was a guy he's be an executve.
I'll PAY your boss to take me on.
ribbit!Happy Friday,Happy Good Friday, Happy Earth Day, Happy Jelly Bean Day ( yes it's actually jelly bean day)Hugs from Katherine.
I totally get what you are saying. Last week the teachers at my work got their reassignments for next year, as our building is transitioning to a middle school; and the support staff is clueless to our new locations. There was a heaviness in our building all week, and it was a short week to boot. We have till the end of May to see if the "change" can hop off like a frog. Otherwise it's gonna be a longgggg rest of the school year. Nobody really-turly likes change?
In the meantime console in knowing you have Irene ;-)
The frog sits quietly, contemplating her surroundings, absorbing the sunshine. When a shadow crosses over, she simply dives under.
*helpful*
Maybe it's just spring - I feel the change thing too. I'm tired from all the moving furniture and throwing stuff out and anticipating what I have to do next and next and next but I do it this time every year.
People cling to the old ways and the old days - Spring for new and renew - but we no longer spend the Winter months hibernating and resting. Time to live on our own schedule of needs...
An old silent pond...
A frog jumps into the pond,
splash! Silence again.

update
as expected no overtime was on the check. Maybe Monday.
The frogs are stable. Their life cycle is follows nature and remains the same. It hops along to its pattern and rarely varies. It's your zen
Sometimes it's hard to accept change ~ yet it is a part of life isn't it.
Wishing you a happy Easter weekend Lin!
xo Catherine
Hope things calm down and you can enjoy Spring. When tax season is over and I have an extra 26 hours a week of not sitting in front of the computer I get so overwhelmed with everything I have to do (that has been put off for 3 months) yet my body is so exhausted I don't want to do anything. Guilt of not doing more becomes a permanent part of my day. *sigh*
Repeat this affirmation often: Change is safe it's safe to change.
Like the frog shot.
Who made the quote "The more things change the more they stay the same"? Because I think the correct quote should be "The more things change, the more different they are."
You're one up on me. I almost never see a frog. Change though, I see that all the time. Just a few days ago my grown daughter made a comment about change. I told her things are changing all the time and we just try to make some sense out of it before it changes again.
thank God for frogs. There seems to be a lot of that revolving door employee thing going on everywhere. And I can so relate to the lots of things going on. I never seem to be able to find time for all of it
Helene--Uh, don't jump too quickly. It's not all rainbows and butterflies here either--why do you think these folks are all bailing before they even start? Work is crazy, isn't it?
Katherine--Jelly Bean Day???! I'm IN!
Jodi--Oh, gees. That is tough, Jodi. I hope you all have answers quickly. The unknown is always worse.
Vanilla--Yeah. :) We've got an escape hatch. Always. Thank goodness.
Tracy--Me too! I'm big on clearing the clutter and washing everything in sight! Joe--not so much. He gets very grumpy this time of year.
Grace--Life is so much crazier than it used to be. Why do we never rest anymore?? No winters. No Sundays. No vacations. Nobody rests!! I don't like that.
Betty--I like that. I need to find me a pond to rest in.
Helene--Ugh. What is with those people??
Pricilla--I think I associate the change with their tadpole/frog transformation. I also have a thing for butterflies and caterpillars--I still raise monarchs each summer. Isn't that weird???
Catherine--Sometimes I'm just tired of too much change. It's exhausting. I just want to rest my head a bit.
Beaded Tail--I worked and worked all day today in the house and yet there is still that list. I need more hours in my day, my week. And I need to schedule some down time where I don't feel guilty. I'm thinking you do too, right??
Jean--I typically like change, but I'm just too tired to deal these days. Maybe I just need a nap. :)
Daisy--No kidding! That's how I feel about work these days. At least Irene is a constant. :)
Writer lady--How right you are. It isn't expecting the change to stop, but just catching your breath with each change that comes. You are so smart. :)
Ann--It's weird--you hear about everyone wanting a job....but employers aren't offering a lot on their end. It's a mixed bag I guess.
Lin- change is very unsettling- how's that for obvious. But, I know what you mean. Hug your froggies (probably figuratively, eh?) and you still have lots of pals. Hey, the verification word is my friend "flicka" (really)
Some change can be good but it sounds like there are lots of changes all at once. Hope the new person and you click just as well. Hang in there!
I'm still cleaning Lin. I swear I feel like it's all I do sometimes...sheesh
I suppose they are a sort of constant for you. They keep changing themselves, but are always there.
