Yeah/no.Irene is freaking nuts about her birthday. She runs around telling everyone her birthday is coming, marks up the calendar on your desk, and changes the birthday announcement to highlight just her name, and walks around like a princess on March 8. Criminy.
In contrast, one year they held my birthday celebration on a day when I wasn't even in the office. But it's not like I'm jealous or anything. I just think that being overly excited about your birthday when you are older than 8 is ridiculous.
But it is Irene and we all love her dearly, so I cheer her on and retreat to my cubicle to roll my eyes and suck my teeth in silence.

Happy Birthday to Irene! I think getting excited about your own birthday is wonderful - a day to celebrate yourself instead of some dead person or other ridiculous events.. Go Irene!
I think it is wonderful that Irene is so full of zest regarding her birthday! We should all be so eager to celebrate our special day, and rejoice in the fact that even though we may be older.....we are still not to old to enjoy life! Wish Irene a very Hppy Birthday.
I'll do anything to detract from the fact it's my birthday, but if she wants to revel in it...so be it! Happy Birthday, Irene!

I'm with you, big birthday celebrations are for children, even then, we don't go crazy about it. I can't believe your office had a party for you on a day you weren't even there! Guess the celebration wasn't really for you was it? Silly.

Nancy--I guess. But it is pretty annoying to sit in my cubicle hearing everyone make a HUGE fuss about Irene all day! Sheesh. Where are these folks for MY day???
DJ--I have to share my celebration with about 6 other people, so they held the party on a day when most of them were there. Irene is one of two in March, so it is a BIG deal. I made her a cake today and then the office party is on Friday. It's CRAZY!!!
