So every day
I was surrounded by the beautiful crying forth
of the ideas of God,
one of which was you.
--Mary Oliver
The other day, a co-worker of mine sent me a Mary Oliver poem by chance, not knowing that she is a favorite of mine. Author Jon Katz introduced me to her work a few years back and both Jon and Mary were inspirations behind my blog. It's just funny how every so often, one of the two of them pop up somewhere and remind me to keep going.
There are days when I have a bunch of stories to tell and still more others when I have nothing. Those are the days when I still myself and have the world whisper its stories to me. The pond, the garden, a bug, or even dirty old snow can offer up a tale--its just a matter of taking the time to listen.

The stories are worth waiting for.
I think cats have got it all worked out.
I love Mary Oliver. Happy Wednesday, Bloggy Friend!
Love the photo...
That is a wonderful poem! And a great kitty picture...I think she has IT all figured out!
Beautiful! Love the photo!
Yes, yes, there are stories in the smallest of moments!
Is this the lovely Grace? She's so pretty. But I guess I am particularly partial to grey kitties:)
I too have been in love with Mary Oliver for quite some time now. Lin- I see much of you in me sometimes. Weird as that sounds, I think we are both light hearted on the prowl for humor, but also there is a side lesser known- deeply sensitive, analytical, and artistic too.
I hope you have a lovely day:)
Lin,
The stories will always be in our heart whether they are told aloud or not...
...or a floorlamp and a vidcam.

Grace looks so comfortable...
and you listen very well Lin because I love coming here and reading your stories
I enjoy your stories very much so glad you are listening for them! I'm hoping a story yells to me soon because I have no idea what to post for tomorrow! :)
Helene--:) You are sweet, Helene.
Mary Ann--No kidding. If I could fit on the arm of that chair, I'd be laying there too.
Betty--Maybe we should do "Mary Oliver Monday", pally. Hmmmm.....
Grace--Ah, nothing like warm sunshine on your furry back says Grace.
Melodie--No kidding! Life is simply good for Grace the cat.
Jennifer--Uh, did I mention she is not allowed on that chair?
Daisy--And the tiniest of creatures. We just have to listen--and hope our brothers don't ruin it for us. ;)
Nancy--That is my Grace. :) Yes, I think we do have a lot in common, Nancy. I keep going to change my profile on my blog, but it just says what I am deep inside. I know I'm wacky most days, but sometimes I'm sensitive too. Thanks for noticing, my friend.
Tracy--Thanks, pally. :)
Vanilla--Wait until you see the "Back Door" video, Vanilla. If you think Lamp is exciting.....
Pricilla--She knows she is not supposed to be up there, but the sun was so warm and so inviting....I couldn't chase her off the chair.
Ann--Aw, thanks, pally. And I like to read yours as well. :) And that Duke......!
Beaded Tail--I have Hobbes Thursday to save me.....Whew!
Now that is a cat that is desperately hoping for a better day!
We can't always be full of entertaining stories. I am willing to wait until the next good story, my pal!
Love that pic of Grace. Beautiful, Lin!!
The quality of your writing, Lin, has exposed you as an excellent listener -busted!
Oh, I like Jon Katz. Wish I had time to read a damn book.
Sharky--She's actually very happy there, Sharky. She is typically not allowed on that chair, but the sun was shining and I let her stay. :)
Hot Rocks--Some times you have to wait longer than others for a good story to come along. Snow is boring, I'm finding.
Veronica--Isn't she cute there? She isn't supposed to sit on that chair.
James--I don't always listen as well as I should, pally.
Casey--I like him too--even met him once and have my photo with him. Not as exciting as my meeting with Tim Gunn though. :)
