I'm saying goodbye to giant snowdrifts this week as the temperatures are reaching a balmy 40-45 degrees all week. Okay, so we are all gonna be a muddy mess--who cares? It will be nice to see another color besides white.
And Hobbes can actually go outside again.

I just hope it doesn't melt too fast, because that means over worked sump pumps and basement flooding in some areas.
we are having those same kind of temps this week also. there will be plenty of moisture in the ground again this year it looks like. hopefully not too much cuz i want to get to the river this summer. have a fabulous day my friend and enjoy the sunshine!
Hope Hobbes enjoys his time out. We have no snow and I still can't get my cants to leave the pile of laundry in the closet.
It's a muddy mess here. Ick, yuck, gack
A nice cleansing rain may help - we haven't had snow in about a week and half - something like that and it has been warmish and it has rained and yes - still snow in the yard and still a pile along the curb...it seems it will never go away!
Yeah for defrosting! We are getting in to the 70's this week.It has been some kind of cold down here, we live on the gulf coast for Pete's sake! We are not supposed to have icy roads and frozen pipes...no,no ,no!
Hip-hip-hooray! Yea, for the sunshine!
We've had a lot of snow melt the last two days. I hope it stays away now!!!! Hurry up spring!
Happy Sunday Lin!

We used to call this season "break up" in Alaska...when the white and the ice and all melted away. Here on the farm, breakup means mud-lots of it since there is no paving, and flooded basements. Sometimes, the surfaces melt really fast but the deep frozen stuff not so fast, so the melt water has nowhere to drain....then we have all kinds of lakes in the yard. Fun!
I'm ready for it.
That's a lot of snow! Melting snow is messy but it is certainly better than driving in falling snow. As long as you have plenty of windshield wiper fluid of course!
Our temps are going up too, not all week but at least some. I'm hoping enough for the snow to melt. I'm so over white
Tracy
GREAT photo! LOL
we hit the 40's today. it was like heaven, there was even sunshine.
Hooray for melt downs
Lola--No kidding. I don't think of that because we don't have a basement, but I see it coming. Ugh.
PJ--Hi, pally! It's just nice not to be freezing every single day. I might be able to go out without looking like Nanook of the North!
Betty--He was very excited to be out there sniffing the air and watching the birdies. The snow needs to melt more so he can walk further than the patio. Poor guy. I don't blame your kitties one bit!
Pricilla--The mud is coming here too. Ugh.
Grace--We still have 6+ foot snowdrifts that I would like to see diminish. It will probably take until July.
Melodie--70's???! Color me jealous.
Vanilla--You may be able to come home someday, pally!
Catherine--I saw it dripping on the rain chain, but it sure doesn't look like any of it melted. Sigh.
Diana--Why do I always think "less than 3" when I see that?? I'm brainwashed.
WillOaks--Yeah, we flood a lot in Chicago too. Fortunately, we don't have a basement, but I know lots of folks who do and they are all panicking.
Chuck--Hey, snappy new photo, pally! I'm ready to be able to just go outside for some fresh air.
Beaded Tail--Oh, it's gonna be ugly this week. But it will be nice to be able to actually breathe the fresh air again without burning your lungs. I may even open a window for some fresh air in the house.
Tracy--I'm over white too. And now it's gonna be dirty white until this stuff melts into brown mud. Lovely colors, eh?
Rebecca--That was what we found when we opened our garage door. And it was so compacted that Em didn't sink when she plopped into it. It was not fun to shovel.
Ann--We had sun AND warmer temps--it was so nice. It may even hit 50 by the end of the week--I'm getting my sandals out!
We even got above freezing today. It was good, because I could empty the compost bucket, which was frozen solid.
Our 3 inches of snow hasn't gone anywhere so I have a feeling your snow drifts may be there a little longer than you expect. We have a one acre ice skating rink in the yard. Oh and we're in morning cuz the biped did go to the dentist. She spent two years worth of temptations to get her tooth fixed.
Have a great week! Keep tilt'n at dose windmills.
I am dropping to my knees, throwing my arms up in the air and yelling out a big ole' church revival AMEN!
Our Missouri glaciers have been melting all weekend with our 60* temperatures...that promise to grace us all week. I have an odd feeling some of the 10 feet high road side glaciers and drifts covered in black exhaust soot my linger for a while--for me and you.
Here's to a week of visible black top and brown grass :-)
AMEN!!!!
I can't even comprehend this scene.
Does this mean that winter is over? I just remembered, what happened to the snowman you promised last year?!!!!
I'm feeling guilty since we had 60 degrees today....NOT!!!!:-D)
Sharky--I'm still waiting to see more than 2 feet of the pond. I don't think that's gonna happen until July.
Ozark Mtn Cats--Oooooh, that was expensive! Well, at least she is feeling better. There is no pain like tooth pain!! OWIE!
Jodi--I'm just hoping that missing lane on my drive to work re-appears. I have really low standards.
peewee--It ain't pretty, believe me. It's fun for 3 minutes--then, not so much.
Veronica--You know, I have not seen one snowman this winter! Maybe I will have to drive around the 'hood with my camera to see if I find one for you. Snowmen are like my snow angels--I don't think kids make them anymore. :(
Jean--Dang, Jean. You are KILLING me!
So happy for you...she said with feigned enthusiasm in her voice...
...ugh...I won't see another colour until May!
"Okay, so we are all gonna be a muddy mess--who cares?"
Yeah, we'll see what you have to say about that in a week or so. By the way, do you have hip-waders for Hobbes?
We actually hit 46 yesterday. It was fantastic! I drove with the windows down -- what a treat!
Amen. Except for the 3 foot wide lake I have no choice but to walk in at the curb to get to my car.
That's no coat weather! You're right that it's going to be a mess, but it's worth it.
Sandra--Ugh. I feel your pain, pally. White, although lovely, can be awfully BORING. Hang in there!
Fish--Hobbes is sticking to the sidewalks still. Even he doesn't like muddy paws.
CG--Who was the poor kid in the backseat who was freezing???
Helene--Oh, it's ugly with all the melty snow, but I'm sort of glad to see it all going away. I actually saw grass today!
Violet--I actually opened a few windows in the house! Imagine thinking 40 is warm!
The snow this year has been nuts. We have a drift as tall as our garage! Crazy!!
Stephanie--It IS nuts!! Do the dogs like it though?
