February is Stupid

I was driving home from work yesterday and listening to talk radio as I usually do. I like talk radio, it's how I get my news and current events, but it drives my kids nuts because they think I'm old when I turn it on. Whatever.

So, like the rest of the city, the talk show host was bemoaning the fact that we were were in for a snow storm that evening. Not the snow storm of a few weeks ago that dropped 20 plus inches of the white stuff, but it was a snow storm just the same. Everybody is sort of sick of snow at this point and February isn't over yet. We still have March to go. Ugh.

More snow, more winter. More ick, more cold.

He sort of wrapped up his thoughts with something his co-worker said that morning:

"February is Stupid"

Yes. Yes it is. And I'm gonna be glad to see it go away. I'm just hoping that March isn't stupid too.

And just in case you were wondering if your car thermometer descends below zero--it does. See?

Ick, you guys deserve summer already. I'll send you some of ours.*rumbling the weather over*

Saw the photo, instantly chilled. What is stupid is that there exists no parity across the nation. It was 87 here yesterday. So average out to about 42, nobody's miserable, nobody's happy.

Since my birthday is in February, the first half is awesome but the second half is definitely stupid.

Holy shit, Lin. I'm sitting on my patio in boxers and a t-shirt as I type this. Come down, please. We'll go drinking in shorts and flip flops (but I'll probably pass out after 2 beers).

Supposedly it was a crusty old New Englander who said, "If yah cahn't stand the wintahs, yan don't desahve the summahs." While winter at this lattitude can be be ugly, the summers are usually glorious!

Chuck is right about the crusty old New Englander, LOL. And he got the accent pretty well! :D

My car temperature gauge has seen that number a few times. Ugh.

I don't mind winter (you probably don't want to see the new video I took of falling snow, haha), but I rarely go out in it.

Nice scarf!

And talk radio is COOL!! Altho, I don't listen to it anymore because it makes me crazy to hear all the crap going on in the world!

I second, no third, that February is stupid. Last week in the 70's, this week frigid and this morning snow...by Sunday 65*. Plus I just want to wear jeweled flip flops and cotton skirts to school.

In the words of Lin--sheesh!

Happy weekend!!

Let's face it, winter is just plain stupid!

I have to admit, I am not a fan of February. If it were on Facebook, I would unfriend it.

It's why I got married in February - it was at least good while I was working. WE always went away somewhere warm for two weeks. Killed half the month.

Now look at me....woke up to -5 this morning. *sigh*

I watch the world from my home office these days so lately every day, every week and every month is stupid! But at least it's not that cold here. It was "only" 25 here this morning.

See, this is what happens when I miss coming over to your blog for a few days...I miss Hobbes and his brush with death!!! UGH!!!!

Give "My" Stripey Goodness a bunch of kisses from me and tell him that he'd better not scare me again...my heart can't take it!!!!

I am glad that he is feeling better; those vaccinations are no fun for some kitties.

Stupid February...see what you did? You about killed my gorgeously-gorgeous handsome boy!

...and...pssst...I think you are right about you-know-who...she IS secretly trying to off the homeboy! ;)

I love cold weather, and rain, and gray days. I know that's weird. Even weirder, though, is that converted my son into an NPR fan. He's 16, and tunes it in whenever we're in the car together. He even listens with his grandparents, discussing BBC news with my mom, who's English.

But March is so, so close.

February is stupid. We got another snow storm here too. I am so sick of the white stuff it's not even funny.

I don't have much trouble with Feb, but March is Mud Month- boo

Catherine--And then we have March....

d'Artagnan--Thanks for the sunshine! It got here today.

Vanilla--Drive slowly on your way home, pally. It isn't warm yet.

Anne--Oh, definitely! That's what I meant to say--the FIRST part of February is FAB. Second part, not so much.

Casey--You are KILLING me. I think I may have to come down there to whip those kids into shape! ;) Well, that's what I'll tell my family anyway..

Chuck--I'm just ready, Chuck. And so is Hobbes.

Rebecca--I like the local talk radio--I don't do NPR or anything too political. I need some lighter fare too.

Jodi--The weather last week was glorious, wasn't it? It gave me hope at least. Flip flop season IS coming, right??

blueyes--Yeah, the -3 is a little much, isn't it?

Grace--Yeah. I like the snow for Christmas, but that is about it. I keep looking for the snowdrops that I planted this past fall. No sign of them yet.

Betty--Hahaha! I like that.

Pricilla--Ouch. Negative 5 is worse than negative 3 any day! So, there are two good things about February--your anniversary and it is the shortest month!

Beaded Tail--It was nice here last week, but that was short-lived. Sigh. Going to the office in this cold sucks. I am envious of your home office.

A.Marie--He got sick last year at this time too--remember? We think it was his vaccines, but aren't sure. Sheesh. Can we pass over February?

Mike--Really?! I mean, I like a rainy day or two in the summer, but this gray is KILLER. WHAT?! Your kid doesn't make you listen to that head-pounding crap that my kids make me listen to? I am envious that you are missing out on the likes of Lady Gaga and Ke$ha on your rides together.

Nancy--I'm not sure it is any better.

Ann--I like that saying, don't you? I mean, it just sums it up perfectly. Although I'm not sure March is gonna be any better.

Sharky--March is hard because we are close....oh, so, CLOSE to spring. And it doesn't quite get here fast enough.

Is it really that cold there? That's COLD!!!

What a stupid month, February has been. I'm ready for March!

FishHawk said...

Ah, but it won't be long before you are ranting about it being too hot to breath.

My son and I actually have very similar tastes in music, and it includes some hard rock. No gaga rap crap, though. NPR, however, comes as a total surprise. Pleasantly.

As much as I love redbud and dogwood, mowing and the beach, NOTHING compares to the magical erasure effect of a new fallen snow. I for one can't get enough of em. Fran's Dad

C'mon March!!
I can't take another snowy Saturday. I live for the weekends and February is killing them!
