Hobbes insists on going out each day as if he is determined to greet the first warm day--should it appear. He walks the yard and sniffs the frozen ground like a hound hot on the trail of some criminal. The most he finds is some frozen bird seed, but even that beats sitting in the house yet another day. He's bored, poor fellow, and as long as his paws can stand it, he's begging to go out.
And when the frozen world is too much to bear, he succumbs to the temptation of the fireplace and his blankie, where he dreams of spring instead.

Yeah, Hobbes I'm right with ya on Spring.
What a sweet picture :-)
Beautiful Cat in Repose! Guess all y'all will have to take "spring" as you find it.
I like Hobbes' approach to waiting for spring. It just can never come soon enough.
Have a good snoozy Hobbes!
xo Catherine
Hobbes has the right idea I think! I keep envisioning him is some little kitty snow boots!(yes,I know cats would NEVER wear boots but it is still a funny thought!)
I am with Hobbes on dreaming about Spring! Although its going to be a long dream..................
hang in there Hobbes Lin will keep you cozy.
Hugs!
Hobbes is a wise cat. You can learn much from him. I think I'll go take a nap too . . .
Sweet Hobbes. Enjoy that fire and blankie. Heaven knows if I could, I'd happily stay at home with my blankie and fireplace (aka: space heater).
Cheers!
Jen
That's a sweet photo
Oh what a sweet photo and a sweet post! Hobbes needs a little smooch on that M on his stripey forehead.
He's such a cute little winter napper.
Tell Hobbes he could always make his mom take him on a trip to California. I hear people wear shorts and tank tops all year long there :)
Such a cute picture of Hobbes!
Tell Hobbes to move over because I'll be right over to share that dream with him :)
Love the picture, he just looks so sweet
Oh poor, poor Hobbes! There is nothing worse than stoking oneself up for an outdoor adventure only to have one's hopes dashed with frozen bird seed!
That's a sweet photo of his face. My orange stripey cat died last week. :( It makes me miss him. He was old and sick, so it was his time. But he was a GREAT cat. Must be the orange that makes them special. :)
Mine have cabin fever over here too. It's been dreary boring for them.
My first plant catalog arrived this afternoon. As of today there are only 73 days until Spring. Good reason to celebrate.

Helene--Me too. Hey--I like your new photo, Helene. Very cute.
Vanilla--He's camped out by the fire as I type, Vanilla. Temps have dropped to single digits tonight. :( Brrrrrr.
Catherine--He checks for it every single day, Catherine. No sign of it yet.
Melodie--That cat might surprise you and wear them--you never know. I mean, how many cats do you know that actually like to play in the snow???
Hot Rocks--No kidding. We have some very long months ahead of us yet. :(
Katherine--Oh, he's VERY cuddly these days, Katherine. And I'm not complaining. :)
Chuck--Naps for everyone!
Jen--He is permanently blobbed in front of the fireplace, Jen. No room for anyone else!
Grace--Makes me wanna smooch his nose--which he hates.
Beaded Tail--Hahaha! I just wrote that to Grace! Great minds think alike. :)
Violet--Well, he's not so little....
Nellie--ROAD TRIP!!
Stephanie--I'll bet your dogs love this cold weather! Hobbes--not so much.
Ann--There's no room in the basket by the fire, Ann. Sorry. He takes up every single inch! But if he gets too warm, he spills out onto the wood floor. That's when you make your move!
Rebecca--Oh, pally! I'm so SORRY! I will tell Hobbes and give him a big smoochie for ya. There is nothing like an orange male. Nothing. You must miss him very much. :(
Storm--If he isn't sleeping, he's fighting with Grace. I hate this time of year.
Anita's Mom--HOORAY!! I love when those catalogs come and we can dream of spring and color. :)
But those ears sure look like he's waiting on high alert for something!
He's got the right idea. It makes me wish that I was a cat!
Poor Hobbes!! Hang in there! Love the pic.
That photo is actually almost a year old. It's the first one from when I colored my hair and got the gray out last Spring. What a difference that made.
I'm not as dogged as Hobbes - my calendar tells me I won't see Spring until April so I prefer to just stick with the fire and skip the frozen stroll. I do admire his hopeful determination - even if it really is just clueless boredom ;0)
