You'll be happy to know that I put up twinkly lights by the cubes at work for Jim. He played it off pretty cool-like, but I know he was secretly happy. Me, Jim, and Irene are the envy of the office now--we've got blinky lights and they don't. And if you work in an office, you already know that things like that sort of irk some folks.
Well, lots of things irk your coworkers actually. There was a bunch of us who got together last week to put up the tree and decorations around the office. It was all pretty low-key until Irene grabbed one tree skirt and I grabbed the other (yeah, we had two to chose from) and we proceeded to sing the "Sisters" number from White Christmas. It was great except we didn't really rehearse or anything and we didn't get the words right. And sure enough, some folks had to point that out. Sheesh. I'm telling you, jealousy is one ugly mutha.
Yeah, it was kinda like that.

Sometimes you have to make your work day fun and then it always makes other's jealous because they are 'too busy to have fun'. Well, that's their problem I always think. I say, "Well then, apply for my job when I retire!" Haha!
Booo to boring co-workers!
Keeping have fun Lin!
xo Catherine
Only thing irks my coworkers is taking a vacation day or sick day. I've been sick with a sinus infection after flu but going in of course.
Grandpa absentmindedly slurps his soup and last week a noodle went down the wrong way and he was wheezing like he was choking. I can't take much more.
I'll be back if and when I feel better. My head hurts, my face hurts.
Yeah, they're just mad they didn't think to sing it first! I love your spirit!
You should see the Christmas tree I created in the office--talk about being jealous. You and the co-workers just might seethe with jealousy at the sight of it's beauty. Mmmmm maybe I'll send you a picture. LOL
"Harrrumph! This is a work place, ya know."
Don't you just love that guy, or gal?
Please have someone video you and Irene doing this number, then post it here.
I love that picture with the antlers. Animals always seem to hate having stuff like that on, but it's still too fun to do it.
Poor Hobbes. He looks so disgusted that he's wearing those antlers.
And to those Scrooge co-workers...they can suck it! At the last place I worked the Sr. VP was a Scrooge and hated it when the Admin staff decorated the cubicles for anything. People spend so much time at work, why can't they gussy things up for the holiday and make the work day more enjoyable? And as for the singing...woo hoo! Go for it gals!
How did you ever get Hobbes to sit still for that indignity?
Glad you got Jim his twinkly lights - I think twinkly lights should be allowed ALL the time.
I can thankfully say I have never seen the movie White Christmas - I can't abide Danny Kaye.
On the other hand, the song "White Christmas" was showcased in the movie "Holiday Inn" with Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire. Now that movie I have seen dozens of times!
How sweet of you to put up twinkly lights for Jim:)
Hobbes looks awesome in his antlers. He must be all ready to go. Our cats are thrilled that the tree is assembled. They like to climb it. They believe we set it up every year, just for them.
Have you ever tried sitting in a box? It's actually very fun. I would have loved to have seen the "Sisters" performance!
Some folks don't know fun when they see it.
Yeah, and I bet that person who pointed out that you got the words wrong isn't getting any this Christmas. I'm talking about presents...what? You didn't think I meant THAT did you? LOL!

I haven't watched "White Christmas" yet, but after your blog entry yesterday I woke up singing "We'll follow the old man ...." I can't get that stupid song out of my head.
YES - You bring the rum and I'll bring the egg nog and we'll sing "Sisters" together!!
Some people just don't know how to have a good time :) You, though, you've got fun covered :)
That's a great movie. Need to rent it again.
Catherine--Boooo to boring co-workers! Yea to Irene and Jim!!! I'm glad I have them to laugh with.
Helene--I hope you feel better, Helene. And I hope you take a sick day or two.
Violet--They are mad because I laugh too hard, too loud, and too much. I shouldn't say "they"--it's really only one or two who are the party poopers.
Jodi--I'm waiting, Jodi. Post it! Post it!
Vanilla--First, thanks for the Christmas card, Vanilla. It was sweet of you to send it to me. :) Second--I'm not sure we could repeat that performance again. I think it was an opening and a closing all in one act.
Ratty--I nearly lost my arm putting those on Hobbes. I was lucky to have one salvageable shot!
Glad to see you here today, Ratty. I sure hope you are feeling better.
Lola--For the most part, folks at work like to have fun. There are only a couple who get mad when me and Irene get silly. And really, it is only me they get mad at for some reason. What. Ever.
Grace--Hey! THANK YOU for the beautiful card!! I LOVED it! It's on my door. :) I don't like Fred Astaire, so I don't like that version--isn't that funny? I find him very feminine and creepy. Well, as long as you have some wintery holiday movie you love, watch away. :) My fav? "Love Actually"
Nancy--Had to. And we set them on twinkle. :) He immediately turned the lights off in the office so we could admire them. It was a great moment.
Anne--I just busted his orangey butt whacking at the ornaments!! He is soooo bored in the house. Ugh. Maybe it was my payment for putting those antlers on him. ;)
Betty--I used to love boxes when I was a kid! Okay, I get it now.
Pricilla--No kidding! I think they were mad that THEY didn't think of it.
Nellie--This one person is just really, really crabby....at ME. No matter what I do, she's crabbin. I think she is secretly jealous of my lipstick or something. And for the record...I DID think you meant THAT. ;) (snicker)
LJ--See! It's catchy, isn't it??! I love the "Snow" song too.
Ann--There is hardly a day when Irene, Jim, and I aren't laughing. We are in a section of the office by ourselves, so it's nice to have some space where we can be silly. Makes the day go faster.
Sharky--I must see that movie a dozen times over the holidays. That and "Christmas Vacation". It's not Christmas until I have seen both of them. Be sure to sing along when you watch it! ;)
Hi Lin!!!! I was going thru the posts in your blog that I had missed while I was away and I see a lot of snow! Brrrrr!!!! You poor thing! Hop on to the next plane and come visit me! You know you're most welcome anytime, pally!
Sounds like you and your pals have a good time in your office.....gotta make the best of it, right? I would loved to have seen you do your Sisters song and dance with the tree skirts....hilarious!
That's a Lisa Ceaser photo, (she has an Etsy Shop) - I particularly chose the nutcrackers for you - seemed appropriate.
"Love Actually" is terrific. Then there is "The Bishop's Wife" with Loretta Young, Cary Grant and David Niven (don't bother with the Whitney Huston/Denzel Washington re-make). I like the "Christmas Carol" movies done with women in the lead role - there is one with Susan Lucci and one with Cecily Tyson...
If you want to have some fun there is "Bad Santa" with Billy Bob Thornton - a lot of the f-word thrown around but in total - funny and sweet.
Veronica--You even type warm and sunny, pally! That villa was incredible. If I come to visit you, can we go stay there???
Hot Rocks--It was really hilarious because we couldn't remember the words to the song! I wonder what they think of us at work? Maybe I don't want to know.
Grace--I knew exactly who that photo was from! And that it came from you was even more special. :) I'm going to frame it. I'll have to check out those other movies--especially that Bad Santa one.
Oh you will effing love Bad Santa LOL
(I mention Lisa every chance I get - I think you is a very talented young woman!)
They only wish they had the courage to belt out a song and make the most of it! Stuffed shirts!!
Actually, there are beaches just as beautiful in Malaysia! I'll take you there for sure.
OMG! I just saw a pic of Illinois' skyline in the newspaper today and it was like a scene out of "Day After Tommorow". I felt goosebumps!!
I'll be the first to die in Chicago. I have 0 tolerance for the cold!!
Looking at stripey with antlers warms my soul :D
OMG you sang a Sisters number with a tree skirt?!?! LOLOL!!!! Where's a video when you need one!!! Wasn't anyone on the ball in that office?
Sorry I haven't been around. I got this nasty huge floater in my eye which impairs my vision something fierce. Very hard to read. Gettin' better, though.
Have a great week!
P.S. I LOVE that pic of Hobbes!
My Mommeh wishes she could work someplace fun like that!
LOLOL, how did you get him to wear those antlers???? He's the best cat eva!!!
