Scenes from under the tree

I figured out this week that I am sorely in need of a micro lens for the camera to really capture the little stuff I want to shoot. I really did try to capture the little world under our tree for you all to see, but between needles dropping from the tree into my shot, wee folks falling over as I tried to move them, and me trying to fit my fat butt between the chairs and the tree--it was a tough photo shoot.

I don't ever want to hear how difficult models can be when I had to deal with people 1/2 inch tall who have a penchant for falling over. Ugh.

Here's a couple of the new hobos we got this year:

Mini greenhouses with uber-mini flowers growing inside:

I know, I know--this is what you are waiting for--
The Pope at the KFC meeting his friends for lunch:

And to get the perspective on the size of it all:

Then there is Emma and Caroline's version of it:

Oh my Cod! I have always wanted to live in that tiny town, until I saw the movie. Now I am a little bit skerred! By the way, I loved the movie. What movie editing program do you use?

ps: My word verification was "codsad."

That. Was. AWESOME!

My favorite part -- besides the music -- was the last frame with the movie credits.

Love that the Costume Designer was American Girl Doll.

Two thumbs up!

Your efforts are rewarded! We get the picture(s). Emma and Caroline: Oscar nominated for best "short," terror category.

Yeah! The Pope! You need to get some mounting putty. It's removable and reusable and lets you temporarily mount stuff and remove it without any residue. Like this stuff:

I love the hobos!!! I used to want sets like these when I was younger. I guess I gave up on it after having a fistful of little kids. Now, I don't have the same passion for the mini-towns. But I do enjoy seeing pictures. :D It must be so much fun to set it all up.

I came back to see the video (videos don't display in my feed reader for some weird reason).

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good heavens, Lin, WHERE does your daughter get her zany, morbid humor, huh? Oh yeah, I know, Joe. *snicker*

Really well done video--- what software does she use? I'm entranced.

How did Hobbs get under the tree without destroying the village? Monster cat really put the town size in perspective.
Emma's the movie producter queen--much admired by Grandma who's just studying "Computers for Dummies".

I love that Hobbes is right in the middle making himself right at home in the village.

Helene--I have more to post, Helene. I'm still trying to get a good shot of the hobos. They are AWESOME!

Daisy--The train is sorta scary, Daisy. Grace does not like it, but Hobbes swats at it to make it fall off the track. That is why he is under the tree--so it doesn't see him. :) Em used a Mac and it has an editing program on it--I-Movie is what it is called. Isn't it great?! I like the codsad, but goldfishsad would have been more fitting. ;)

CG--Dang those creative kids! That would have taken me three weeks to do!

Vanilla--Oh, those two laughed non-stop for HOURS making that movie. I was ready to kill them by the time it rolled onto the big screen. :)

Lola--Yeah, but then what would I gripe about???

Rebecca--The train set wasn't out for years while the kids were little. Joe and I made the houses and hand-painted everything before we had kids, so we didn't want them to break it. Now the kids take really good care of it and we enjoy it a ton--especially the hobos. ;) Oh--Em used a Mac and the program on there is I-Movie.

Highway--She used a Mac and the program on there is I-Movie. I guess it is super cool and EASY to use. Too bad it is going back to college with my son in a few weeks. :(

Grace--It cracked me up! It's funny to see her have the same sense of humor as me.

Nancy--He really only goes under there to watch the train. It's sort of a sneak attack. He's really adept at not knocking anything down, believe it or not.

Betty--I told her and Caroline to get working on it. I think they may have a career in film production.

Pricilla--I couldn't believe how professional it looked for an afternoon of work! They were laughing so hard making it, I was gonna kill them!

Ann--I have more, but I need to work on the hobos. They were sorely out of focus because they are so darn tiny. Ugh.

G'ma Phyl--He goes under there to just watch the train go by and believe it or not, he doesn't knock stuff down! Hard to believe for such a moose!

Karen--Isn't that funny??! He LOVES it under there. He thinks the train can't see him.

Grandma is a monster and deserved to die! Up with fast trains!

My friend, you look like Catzilla in that tiny town!! CRUSH!!! hehehe!

Veronica Lee said...

That was brilliant, Lin! Love the video. I second a sequel!!

Lin said...

Sharky--That is one scary Grandma, isn't it??!

Rumblepurr--He doesn't knock anything over, believe it or not! But he does get the train periodically.

Veronica--I told her and Caroline tonight that they had better work on another one. They had so much fun making the first one, but their giggling drove me NUTS!

I love miniature things, and have always wanted to create a miniature city complete with trains, planes and automobiles. Yours is wonderful, and I especially like the Pope at KFC. That's my kind of humor.

P.S. -- Captcha word: jestr

Oh, wow! The video's awesome! I don't know your cast of characters. Who did this? It's great.

Helene said...

Yeah guys-make another one. Awesome. Where mom has super talent with writing and photography, Miss Em (and friend) has super talent in video producing. It's one of those boy I wish I had talent like that moments. :-)

MikeWJ--AHA! I KNEW you couldn't resist the Pope with Red Shoes!! (Nobody can!) Oh, there is all kinds of good stuff under the tree--suicidal reindeer, a guy on a silver toilet, and the new addition of hobos. Emma is my daughter, and Caroline is her wacky friend. They made the video one afternoon after hours (and hours) of obnoxious giggling. This is the outcome--which I think was worth all my suffering.

Helene--Me too! She used Col's Mac to make the video and we are all gonna miss that thing when he goes back to college. :( We may just have to purchase a Mac. Hey--how come I can't access your blog???

My parents have a whole village set up in their living room at Christmas (they had something made out of wood that they could put over the piano) and every year when my sister comes to visit she rearranges everyone - the vicar leaves the church and hits the pub, villagers end up in very strange positions. I guess we're never to old to play.
