So, while I was trying to wrap my head around the significance of that for a Christmas song, I started thinking of some of my favorite things.
Now, don't be thinking "Oh, cool, Lin is gonna be like Oprah and start giving away crap" 'cuz the only thing I hate more than overplayed Christmas songs is Oprah. Hate. Her. And all her silly robotic, mindless followers. So, the answer is no, you're not getting anything more than my list of things that are my favorites.
- These wacky snowmen that Emma made out of tube socks back in the 3rd grade. They beat the heck out of that silly angel from yesterday.
- My electric blanket
- Anything that makes me laugh
- The school bus that drives my kid to school everyday so I don't have to
- People who hold the door for you
- Seeing the feral cats in the parking lot at work
- snow days
- People who stand up for themselves or have an opinion
- Coffee that someone else makes for you
- Snow falling at night when you don't have to go anywhere in the morning

Thank goodness - I thought I was the only person on the planet who thinks Oprah is a waste of space! I think the little sock snowmen are totally cute! (It can snow everywhere and anywhere except wherever I happen to be at the time).
I love the little sock snowmen, anything my kids made are high on my list.
My most favorite thing is a good story. All of my close friends are taught the importance of telling a good story and become addicted to hearing them.
OK, so we will have to agree to disagree on Oprah as I am one of those mindless, robotic followers!! Haha! ;)
But I do indeed enjoy your list of favourite things! Especially the electric blanket. Nope, can't live without that during these cold winter months. It is my best friend right now!
Have a happy Tuesday Lin!
xo Catherine
So true. I like #5 and #10 too.
Those snowmen socks are great, especially the little one with the blue pom-pom. Cute!
Those who appreciate the little pleasures in life are the happiest people. You are blessed to be one of them.
Em's socks are great Christmas decor!
Hahah. Good for you! I think taking the time to make a list like this is just further proof of how happy you are. I love it. There's a time for bitching, yes, but no one wants to be grumpy all the time (I hope).
9 is a big one in our house too. We always say that toast (or anything) always tastes better when someone else makes it. It's just the not having to do it part that's great. So while we team cook too, we scramble for our chance to be the couch-sitter during any meal time:)
You aren't alone here, I also have low standards on what can make me happy. It really is the little things in life.
Darn.....I was hoping you were giving away the sock snowmen! They are very cute! I love snow days too.....just because you don't have to go anywhere.
I'm a bad mom I threw away the tube sock snowman Alee made in the 3rd grade. And I was the mom who came up with the craft for the room party that year.
Hmm. What are my 'raindrops on roses'?
Walking into a house that smells good, whether it be from food, or the fireplace, or the fact that its a cabin and always smells like wood.
The way flannel sheets feel when you slide into them at the end of a long cold day.
The scrunched up face my husband makes when he can't stop laughing.
Two of my favorite things:
1)Seeing snow, running to my room, and breathing a sigh of relief when I see that i didn't leave my windows open. (A 10 degree room is no bueno)
2)throwing my dirty clothes at the hamper from down the hall and sinking every shot.
I'm pretty easy to please :)
eh-hem
I did not see goats on that list.
The sock snowmen are very cute!
My favorite things include #3, #5 (especially since my husband even opens the car door for me every single time I get in!), #6 (always love to see kitties - hope they are spayed and neutered though) and #10. My resolution is to be #8! I'm working on it.
Love those snowmen! And I'm extraordinarily interested in know what those feral cats in the parking lot are working at! Is your job in jeopardy? ;-)
Grace--I can't believe people follow that dame like sheep. Scary. We got snow last night and it was lovely. You should have seen Hobbes out in it!
Highway--Oh, I like your favorite thing! I guess blogging is like storytelling, right? Maybe that is why we do it so much.
Catherine--NOOOO! Save yourself, Catherine. Think for yourself and read whatever books YOU want to read! Free yourself!!! AARRRGGHHH! That said, I think angels invented the electric blanket. :)
Duni--I love those snowmen because they are wacky looking. They make me laugh every year when I pull them out of the box. :)
Vanilla--Yeah. I can't wait for the big stuff. :) Maybe I'm simple, but man, I'm happy for the most part.
Nancy--Oh, I've had my share of griping lately. Look at my posts about online ordering. Ugh. Anyhoo--what is it about coffee or food that you don't have to cook or clean up??! Ahhhhhh.
Ann--Yeah. Can't wait for the big stuff or I'll be waiting forever. I'm just happy that my fish is still alive today! Hooray!
Hot Rocks--I like snow days because they remind me of being a kid. I wish work was like that. Can you imagine your boss calling and telling you to stay home?? Wow. :) No sock snowman giveaways, sorry. Maybe Oprah can do that next year. Hee! hee!
Jodi--Gasp! You DID NOT! :0 Terrible mom. Terrible.
Shieldmaiden--I like your list. :) Especially the smell of home and the scrunchy face. I like those.
Ben--He shoots! He SCORES! I like that one, Ben. There is no greater satisfaction than seeing a shot go in--whether it is the garbage can or the hamper. Was it a 3 pointer?
Pricilla--Goats and goat soap is #11 and #12. :) I'm in heaven with my soaps these days.
Beaded Tail--I don't think those kitties are fixed because there are kittens every spring. That said, they are there to be mousers and the truck drivers see to it that they have a place to sleep and have plenty to eat.
Sharky--They are mousers, Sharky! So they ARE working! And they are working at ignoring me when I call them. And they are working on getting away from me! See--very busy! Hee! Hee! I keep threatening to catch one for Irene.
Hmmm....Tube sock snowmen....I bet you put out kleenex ghosts at Halloween too :)
BTW...Oprah's book club books suck! Every one I've picked up has been a crappy dud. She's nuthin special :)

Poor Hobbes not even mentioned inside... :(
Did you stuff your snowmen with rice? If so, don't! My snowmen must be 12 years old and they are all springing leaks which makes for a very "snowy" display!
I also like coffee made by someone else. Doesn't it taste better?
You have the perfect list of favorite things.
Yep, as a Chicagoan number 10 does it for me.
I went to Oprah twice years ago when you could actually manage that. There was this guy a few rows ahead I kept complaining was the real one that needed a makeover with his ugly clothes and awful hat. Turned out he was that Jesse Garza guy who was doing the makeovers.
ps I haven't watched her in years and for that matter I haven't watched tv more than 5 minutes at a time once in a great while for about 5 years now. I have Jim record stuff I never even watch.
I love the sock snowmen.
Number six (Seeing the feral cats in the parking lot at work) is now one of my favorite things even though I've never really seen it.
And they are stretching trying to make "My Favorite Things" a Christmas song.
Hate is such a strong word. I admire Oprah--she overcame so much and used to have a good show. I'm not really a follower of hers though, but she does seem like a nice person to me.
You came up with a good list of favorite things and it's good to enjoy simple things.
Nellie--I DO put out kleenex ghosts!!! How did you know???! Oprah may have been "real" a very long time ago, but girlfriend doesn't know squat about it now.
V7--Sometimes we all need a break from cat posts, pally. Aren't you all sick of him??!
Chocolate--Uh oh. I think it is rice. :( I'd better get my rice shovel out!
Helene--Hahaha! She has lost touch with reality and it is scary how many women follow her every word. Scary cult kinda stuff if you ask me.
CG--I'm gonna grab you one, CG! We're on a litter of gray stripeys right now that are just adorable. They are truly feral though, which may prove interesting with the kids.
Karen--I find "despise" just as strong, so I'm not sure of the word to use. If I cringe when I hear her name, I'm thinking that hate/despise isn't too far from wrong. I have a problem with her self-righteousness and telling folks how it is when she has been out of touch with reality for far too long. Have a few kids and an income that doesn't last the week and then tell us about how you change your sheets every single day. She's full of baloney. Moving on...I think simple things and joys are the best, but I think you're like me in that fashion. You and I like a lot of the same things. :) Except for Oprah. Hee! Hee!
Top ten, huh? I totally need to make a list of things I like - days that are light past 4pm is one of them...
Money does that to a person. Not to mention when did she begin to be worshiped so?
You're funny, but I'm sorry I really like Oprah despite her mindless followers. Good grief! I'm with you on the coffee, but you should add "Good" ... Good coffee that someone else makes for you. I haven't had an electric blanket in years; I think I should get one. Those snowmen socks are priceless... and they made me giggle.
