Remember doing that as a kid? We got the biggest kick out out of it if it worked, and the person walking in did so quietly, thinking you were asleep. And we'd all jump up and laugh because that was hilarious or something.
So, Joe snuck in quietly and he really did think we were asleep--partially because at that point Hobbes was asleep. He cheats. And then Em and I jumped up and screamed and Joe actually really DID think we were asleep. Score!
Anywho, that's how I'm feeling today--like I'm pretending to be asleep.
The office is closed today, but I'm still on deadline and stuff needs to be done--albeit from home, darn it.
But I'm still trying to pretend I'm relaxing by sleeping in late, making some coffee, and taking my time getting into the shower. I plan on doing my work in my pajama pants and maybe taking a break or two by whipping some butt on the new Wii games we got for Christmas. Lunch is all the munchy foods we have left over from the holiday, with a cookie chaser--of course.
So, while the rest of the world may be back to work this ugly cold Monday morning after the holiday, I'm still "sleeping".
Don't blow my cover, okay?

Sleep on! What deadline?
When I was a kid I was a real stinker. Every morning my Mom would come in to wake me up and I'd pretend I was still sleeping and couldn't be roused awake. Then I'd scare the bejeepers out of her. Ahh, good times!
Zzzzzzzzzz
I'll be vewwy, vewwy Qwiat. Pwomise.
What fun! Shhh... I going to sleep now....
Shhhhh...Sleep my child and peace attend thee all through the night - or day in this case.
I still do that!
Anna thinks I'm sleeping and pets my back. But cats never sleep that deeply. We're always ready.
Send Hobbes some nose-taps from me!
Purrs,
Sara Cat
Your secret is safe with me. HAHAHA about scaring Joe. Boy, I'll bet it's moments like those that make him so glad he married you. LOL
P.S. My husband would have freaked and NOT laughed.
I'm in my jammies, too. Don't tell anyone, either! If the FedEx man comes, he'll have to leave it on the stoop. If I dare open the door, I'll scare that poor man so badly he'll be scarred for life.
Enjoi.
I was still sleeping (well...groggy in bed) when you typed this up. I am just now having my coffee! Oh...and eggs made in our new Ready Set Go! They are yummy!
Oh yes ~ we (I) still play that came once in awhile too. I wonder why we think it's so funny? :?
I'm won't even have to pretend I am sleeping by this afternoon as that will be what I am doing! Hope you are able to get your work done really fast and then catch a quick cat nap! :)
xo Catherine
Typing very softly here and backing out of the blog....Shhhhhh.
P.S. You are sort of drooling on the pillow.
How funny for scaring Joe! Wonder if next time he'll be so quiet or just wake you up!
Your day sounds like every work day for me since I work from home. I won't blow your cover since I don't want mine blown either!
Hehe...sounds like a great day! I'm pretending to be dressed today. M. got me a cozy robe and now there's no reason to put on clothes!!! Well.....I guess it helps that I don't have to leave the house today either. Enjoy your cookie chaser!
I won't blow your cover but it won't stop me from jealous that you got to stay home and pretend to sleep today.
I love a day where I can sit around in my jammy pants.
Vanilla--zzzzzz. :) Nuthin' like a nap with kitties.
Lola--Why is that gig always so fun??! It just never loses its ability to make me laugh.
Pricilla--I'm with ya, goatie!
Chuck--You silly rabbit! I ended up working all day, but the atmosphere was just a tad less formal than the cubicle. I did miss Irene and Jim though.
Melodie--I hope I can manage to "sleep" through this entire week. It will prove to be a challenge at the office though. :(
Grace--I ended up working, Grace. :( Although I did get a great card in the mail. :) Thank you!
Sara Katt--Hi, Sara Katt! Hobbes actually snores when he is in his basket by the fire. But ready he is if he hears the cat snacks being opened!
Rebecca--Joe knows better than to get mad. It's much easier to go along and laugh. I'm trying to figure out how to wear pajama pants to work all week. Getting dressed up is going to STINK!
Diana--I have to work the rest of the week, boo hoo! I'll be thinking of you sleeping while I'm working, pally.
Catherine--I took a nap too! There is nothing so glorious than a nap. :) (and I wasn't even pretending)
Betty--Thanks for the heads-up. ;)
Beaded Tail--You are lucky to work at home every day. Although, I do enjoy laughing with Jim and Irene. I would miss them if I worked at home.
Nancy--Soooo, you are nakey under the robe???! TMI, Nancy. ;)
Ann--I ended up working, Ann. :( And I have to go in the rest of the week. Bummer. I guess it's you and me who has to work this week.
Highway--Me too! And drink coffee and eat cookies with the kitties on my lap. Ahhhhh. Too bad I have to go into work tomorrow. :(
Would love to see Joe's expression when you guys surprised him :D
You are lucky your office was closed. Ours was open and pretty boring. It made it even tougher for me to go in knowing that my husband was off all the week. Oh well, I say good for him.
V7--Oh, I don't think Joe gets that surprised anymore--he lives with me, remember??! ;0
Karen--It is KILLING me that I can't be home with the kids this week. I'm trying to work and get home to be with them--especially now that Colin is home from college. I really miss being a SAHM. :(
