How to Gift Wrap a Cat

Do you know what I hate doing this time of year? Well, more than standing in crowded lines of holiday shoppers, putting up all that crap in my house, and decorating two trees?

Wrapping presents.

Ugh, I dread that. And while everyone else in my family runs for the hills when that job comes along (well, any job, actually), the only ones who stick by me are the kitties--they LOVE wrapping presents! All that crinkly paper and crunchy bows.....

But what to do when the kitty is the present? Here you go:

I know CardioGirl is just hoping she gets one of those packages this Christmas.

I saw that video yesterday - very funny! I love wrapping gifts. One holiday season I actually worked the Customer Service Desk at a mall doing gift wrapping - And yes, I did have to wrap round things. The supervisor insisted we not use more than 4 small pieces of scotch tape. And of course the customers wanted fancy stuff that wasn't part of the "FREE" gift wrap - and then got all snarky when they were told it would cost them. As you can imagine it was not my favorite job.

On the other hand, when I did work retail Christmas was my favorite time to work. Long hours, yes. Grumpy people, yes. But since I always worked in small specialty stores it was great fun to help choose just the right gift and my customers, for the most part, were regulars, so we had a good time! I do love retail!

Now I totally want a kitty for Christmas. Unfortunately, my husband says no more cats.

The Cat in the Wrap! Wherever did anyone find a cat that would tolerate that? Well, she freed it, thank goodness.

Reckon what drugs did they feed kitty first? That didn't look like any cat I know . . .

I learned how to wrap a cat from Aunt Bethany: disguise it as a green jello salad when actually it's your cat in there too trying to get out. Aaaaahhhh makes me wanna skip work and watch Christmas Vacation--for the gavillionith time.

This cat was MUC more patient than mine would have been!

Very cute. Most patient cat I have ever seen.

Oh my gosh, that is one patient cat! Not mine!

The Farm cats would not be wrapped. The goats would eat the wrapping.
*sigh*

That is just too funny. I can't believe it just laid there like that. None of the cats I've ever had would have sat still for that. Loved it

OMG! that's hilarious! I don't think either of my kitties would sit still for that. What a laid back kitty! Too funny!

Catherine--There is NO way my kitties would stand for that! And to wrap Hobbes in paper would take a double roll!

Violet--No kidding. The bow got to me--my cats hate those bows on their heads!

Grace--Really? I worked in a small gift shop and hated it. We did gift wrap as a courtesy and folks really took advantage of it. We had people buying a package of 12 ornaments and asking me to make 6 gift wrapped packages out of those things! They were so freaking CHEAP! Ugh. I'm scarred for life, Grace.

Anne--:( But what if I sent you a gift-wrapped cat??? It would really hurt my feelings if you returned it. :)

Vanilla--Did you see that cat willingly come over and get wrapped?? Criminy. That would be a cold day in Weirdville that it happened here with my two!

Chuck--No kidding! But did you see how that thing walked?? I have a feeling it does a LOT of sitting.

Jodi--I just bought it on DVD because our VHS player wore out. It is one of my very favorite movies for the holidays. Oh, Jodi--they want you to say the blessing!

natalee--Can you believe that cat???!

Betty--No kidding. I'd have no eyeballs left after that one!

Highway--That cat looks like it is used to sitting a lot. And it likes the attention.

Storm--Not mine either! Mine like to lay on the paper--but don't touch them! Yikes.

Pricilla--My kitties just beat up the paper and tear up those darn bows. They hate the bows.

Ann--Isn't that cat cute?? I love how he waddles over to just sit on the paper. I want that cat.

Lola--No kidding! My two would tear up that darn bow in seconds flat! They HATE those bows.

HAHHHAHAHAH! That was good. I was laughing just THINKING of Hobbes doing that. I don't think he'd even fall for lying down on that paper in the first place!

I just saw that video yesterday too and it's so funny! Isabella is so mellow she'd lay there and let me do that. Having them help me wrap presents is the only thing that makes it a fun chore. Well, watching them unwrap it is fun too!

First, peewee I LOVE the Nellie picture.

I told my son to watch the video. He looks a lot like our black and white cat who would never put up with it. Too cute.

Lin said...

peewee--Nope--Hobbes would be attacking the paper! Grace would lay on it, but there is NO WAY she'd allow me to wrap her--I can barely pet her as it is. You know--pets aren't for petting or something like that. Sheesh.

Beaded Tail--We used to have a cat that would unwrap her presents and others under the tree. She once opened a big container of pecans--what a mess! I want to see you wrap Isabella.

Helene--I just love how she just sits there, so willingly. Oh--if you love peewee's photo--go to her blog--it is a whole trip down memory lane! It's GREAT!

I like wrapping presents. It's about the only "chore" I really enjoy other than shopping for them.

Funny video. I actually don't know what my cats would do if I started wrapping them up. Maybe I'll try it when I do more wrapping and see. I think Spunky would let me, but not Manny.

Oh.

My.

Lord!

Just watched this with my kids and we laughed our heads off! This will be on huge rotation along with the cat playing eye spy.

Thank you for my early Christmas present, Lin!
