Catherine--I think we take our good health for granted. It's just funny how she started with that part and I told her so. Thank goodness Mom has a sense of humor.
Melodie--Hee! Hee! It's a fine line, right?!
Vanilla--I know, I know. My time is coming up. :)
A.Marie--Well, you don't want him to HAVE to use his oxygen either. That could be a party bummer!
Jodi--I love when I can capture on film how silly Grace is. She is always in Hobbes' shadow here, but I think she likes that actually.
Betty--Well, breathing is always a good thing, I guess. :)
Pricilla--Nah, Bob's been sick lately and so I guess she was saying he felt really good that day. But it was just the way she said it that cracked me up! Gees, I don't wanna get old!
Hot Rocks--This is what we have to look forward to! Yikes.
Your mother is certainly one of these people who calls the glass 'half-filled' instead of 'half-empty'.
Boy Lin, you sure made me laugh. What a beautiful grey cat. Who is that?
Thanks for visiting my 'French Obsession'-post. I agree with you. It would be nice to think that they all got out and lived their lives happily ever after. Yes, I wish I could do research and find out what happened. But the problem is that I don't know where to begin. When I interviewed my father and wrote down this story he only had three more months to live. He did not remember any of the details that might have helped me find answers. He remembered no names of anyone. I am lucky to even have this bare bones of a story. It was as if it was so exhausting and horrible to be in the war that he really and truly just wanted to forget the whole thing. I think he must have seen too much suffering around him. He never spoke about it. It was only towards the end of his life that he told us a few things because we were so curious. But he succeeded in forgetting. I wish he had written it down instead. Hugs, Anna
Tracy--Hahaha! I'm getting old too, but NOT that old!
Ann--I loved that when my mom said that. Scary how your perspective changes, eh?
Highway--Yeah, or she has really, really low standards for a good time!
Anna--Oh, that is Grace, our other cat. She does not like the limelight. She only likes me. :) It's a shame you don't have the time or the resources to research that event. That would be some story, wouldn't it?
Violet--I'm not sure if needing oxygen or not is better.
LJ--I don't think she even thought about what she said until I started cracking up. Poor Mom. I guess she is used to me laughing about stuff like that. Oh, that's my Grace--she is awfully silly sometimes.
Beaded Tail--That's what I'm thinking! See what we have to look forward to?! ;)
Grace almost looks like she's trying to smile there. Grudgingly, but trying nonetheless.
That's an awesome story. It's like one of those little snippets from Reader's Digest. Remember those? They'd have a title for the section, something like "Life As We Know It" and then they'd publish three or four stories like that.
All of the stories were less than six or seven sentences and they always had a punch.
Way to go Lin, Sr.! (I know that's not her name; it's like calling your husband Mr. Lin -- you're the superstar and they are an extension of you.)
Rebecca--She says this stuff and she has no idea how hilarious it is. And if I laugh, she gets mad. hee! hee!
CG--Grace is very underrated. The initial impression is that she is grumpy, but in actuality, she is much sillier than Hobbes ever is. It's well-hidden. I like that about her. I remember those stories! And if you submitted, you got $100 or something. Hmmmm.....I wonder if I'd have to split the cashola with Phyl if they published it. Don't tell her, okay? Oh--Phyl is my mom, she is a frequent reader and sometimes commenter here at the Duck and Wheel.
I just think life is more fun if we notice the little stuff and laugh...a LOT. I'm lucky to live with a family who humors me, joins in the fun and tolerates me most days.
I have a wee house and yard, but it is loaded with adventures. There isn't a backyard pond owner out there who has more stories about her frogs, snails, fish than me. And I don't even make this stuff up!
I'm glad you are here to laugh with me. Welcome, pallies!

Well, yes - for Bob anyway.
Haha ~ well I guess when you get older, every day you wake up is a bonus!!!
Happy November Lin!
xo Catherine
I am thinking Bob wasn't partying hard enough if he didn't need his oxygen??!!!
Oh, yes. You'll join the ranks one of these days. What a great kitty picture! She expresses my attitude perfectly.
I am agreein' with Melodie...not enough partaay-ing if no oxygen was required!!! LOL
Love the pic of your kitty...FUNNY!!!! :)
I am laughing. And then as I type this Grace's photo is staring at me with that "reeeeeally" look on the face. So I laugh even more.
I know that's the sign of a good party in my book too!!
I wonder if that meant the party sucked...not oxygen mind you but wind
I guess that is a great evening, from the perspective of an older person!
Grace--Yeah, well, and Sue too, I guess!

Oh man, I've had comments like that - I'm getting old.
LOL, I guess after a certain age we really do change the way we look at things
I would call your Mom an optimist.

If I needed oxygen at a party, I'm thinking it was a win!
You're parents sound like mine. Can't help but put a twist on things.
Also - I love that picture. The 'snark' on the face is beyond reproach. I have a cat that looks just like it.
LOL! That's funny! Bet Sue was pretty happy about that too!
What an evil grin by Grace! Hey... if I was the one who had to drag around a tank, I might measure success the same way!
Tracy--Hahaha! I'm getting old too, but NOT that old!

Sharky--No kidding! Hooray for Bob!
Your mom sounds like a real corker-- not unlike some other fun and sassy dame I know. ;)
Kudos to Bob! That tank must be such a pain! Ah, to be free for a while... I'd party hearty, too!!
Grace almost looks like she's trying to smile there. Grudgingly, but trying nonetheless.
