Target.Com SUCKS!

If I have my way, somebody over at Target.com is gonna get a new butt hole.

I stopped over at my pally Helene's blog yesterday, and whew! girlfriend drilled into some folks who needed it apparently. And while I was reading, I kinda slinked down, tip-toed backwards, quietly shut the door behind me and I left Helene to her drillin'. And while I snickered at her evil get-even, I found myself doing the same plotting and planning against my own arch nemesis--Target.com.

FYI--Target.com SUCKS. Big time.

Do not ever order anything from them--well, unless if you don't care if you ever get the item or anything. Or if you don't mind being really, really embarrassed to the couple who foolishly registered on their Club Wed Registry. Man, Target could mess up a one car funeral.

Here's the Reader's Digest version which does not include them hanging up on me like a thousand times:

I placed an order for two items on this couple's registry. One of the items was shipped out and I was told the other item would be shipped separately. Ding! (That's the P.O.'d bell going off in my head) No, the items could not be gift wrapped and NO, you cannot send a gift card if there is no gift wrapping. Ding! I'm still wondering if the Bride and Groom even know it is from me.

Then I receive an email stating that the second item is on back-order. Ding!

And I keep getting bi-weekly emails telling me that this item is STILL on back-order for SIX WEEKS NOW! Ding! Ding! Ding!

I finally had enough and called them to cancel my back-order and they claim that they cannot do that. I can only refuse the shipment or return it for a refund when I receive it. Problem is....it is a GIFT and I am NOT THE ONE RECEIVING THE ITEM. But does Targetsucks.com understand that? Nope. And why? Because their freaking customer service is in the Philippines.

Not at Filipino people aren't nice and all that--it's just that nobody can understand the whole GIFT concept and that a split-up gift, 6 weeks in the waiting and still holding is freaking embarrassing and I'm really, really mad about this. Just cancel my freaking order!!!!

And what to do? I dunno. I've tried calling my credit card company and the only recourse is to cancel that credit card and get a new one. Ugh. Really?

Any suggestions, pallies?? I've tried calling and emailing customer service--all with the same result. I even called the corporate office in Minnesota--same result. In fact, at one point they transferred me to the number in the Philippines!

I'm freaking held hostage by those idiots at Target.com--which SUCKS, by the way. (Have I mentioned that?)

Soooo, I'm pulling a "Helene"--I am soooo gonna post Target.com SUCKS like a cabillion times so that when folks start Googling Target.com--they are gonna get this wacky dame at the Duck and Wheel ranting about some lame-ass wedding gift that never came.

That'll show 'em.

Thanks for the idea, Helene.

*Oh, I'll post another, happier post after this, so keep scrolling down. We can't have all this unhappiness here.

Some time ago I did that and though I can't remember the company-they did post on my blog to contact them and they would help with the problem.

My sister and Target do NOT get along...don't even mention the word t-a-r-g-e-t to her...she breaks out into hives and goes running down the street like a mad woman, screaming "NOOOO....not that name, anything but that name..." lol

she really dislikes target, if you can't already tell! :)

GAAAK!!!! Hate it when big companies do not make it easy for you to do business with them. I HATE shopping at Wal-mart - hate it hate it hate it - yet - in small city Saskatchewan Canada, you sadly do have to enter their doors once in awhile. What is a person to do??? What a racket.

Good luck with your issue Lin!

Can you dispute the charge with your credit card company? Tell them that you tried to cancel the order and they wouldn't allow it!

I would try calling Corporate again. A few years ago I had an issue with a return. A pair of boots I purchased had the insert missing and for some reason my local store would not take the return. I walked back to my car fuming and got on my cell phone to Corporate. Yes, it took a couple of tries before I got anyone to listen, but eventually they instructed the store to take the return AND issue me a gift card for my inconvenience. Sometimes you have to be persistent and keep calling until you reach the individual willing and capable of helping you. It's a sad commentary on customer service, but it's true. I've run into this with AT&T also. (That sucker took me 6 calls to get what I needed accomplished.)

I agree with Lola, if you get up the chain a bet and a bigwig gets annoyed you can get your problems fixed and also get some free stuff.

Everybody needs to vent, it's theraputic. Now go have a drink...a stiff one ;-)

It is getting almost impossible to find a company these days that takes pride in their products or their service for that matter...

" a split-up gift, 6 weeks in the waiting "
--Lin, perhaps you speak truer than you know. By the time the couple gets the gift, it may be a "split-up" gift. We hope not, but divorce is pretty popular these days, so I am told.

Yes, keep emailing and calling corporate - emailing especially. And then calling. You will eventually get a response.

Oh and email them a link to this post and the first one as well. Always a terrific idea. I did that with Lowe's - get an instant response.

I am very happy with Target.com. Since living here I have ordered from them on a regular basis - furniture even (and very nice it is too and less expensive, for the exact same manufacturer, than every other store). I have ordered from their gift registries and yes, parts of the order were shipped separately because some stuff you can't all put in the same box.

I must admit I have never had to deal with their customer service department because I have never had a problem with them.

Oh yeah and a link to Helene's blog would have been nice - If you click on her name, her profile doesn't show a link to her blog. Then again, it might be an "invitation only" blog - in which case - Never Mind!

Apparently loads of people are having issues with Target.

The Bumbles said...

Do you have a local Target store near you? Perhaps you could go in there and talk to one of their managers and see if they can't coordinate the cancellation of that order.

Otherwise, write a letter, with a printout of your blog, and send it to the top. I've done that before with American Airlines with success. Andy's dad does it constantly - I think it is actually his hobby ;0)

Keep hounding them I say. Let them know who they're dealing with. Customer service has gone so down hill in the last few years and as a consumer I'm really getting sick of it. I regularly complain when I'm not happy with service...lol

BeadedTail said...

Sorry you are getting the run around with them. I was just reading somewhere how in this day and age of the internet letting people know when companies do wrong, they are usually very quick to respond to problems. One suggested posting to their Facebook page for all to see. That was supposed to get the quickest response since they don't want anyone else to know about your issues. Whatever recourse you find, I hope they get this straightened out soon!

Hug Hobbes and Grace to get that smile back!

I really like Target's shopping carts. I was admiring their engineering today as I watched them sail across their parking lot. They are a cool kinda euro blow molded red/grey plastic thingys. Fran's Dad

Lin- I'm not sure I quite understand how you feel. Could you be a little more explicit?

Helene--Uh, what happened to your blog? I tried to link it and it disappeared! Somehow, I don't think Target gives a rat's ass about my blog or my trash-talking them. They make money in spite of themselves.

A.Marie--I love your sister! I have boycotted the local Target for nearly 10 years now. Now I know why.

Catherine--See, I like Walmart. You know why? Because I expect NOTHING. And if I get a smidge of customer service, then I'm pleased as punch.

Daisy--I tried that. I can only dispute when the charge is on there, and if the gift is delivered (in like 100 years) I have no recourse. I'm being held hostage!

Lola--I'm not sure I have any more patience. I can't tell you how many calls I have made and guess what I got in my Inbox today? Yep, another Order Status email telling me my order is on back order. Grrrrrr!

Highway--But try finding a bigwig. That was my problem. I have no names and they won't transfer you to anyone! I am very frustrated.

Jodi--Yeah, if only it would get me out of this back order hell!

Melodie--Or how about understanding the term "gift"--as in I won't be the one receiving the item and so I can't return or refuse it. They are complete idiots.

Vanilla--Oh, these are religious freak-outs. There's no divorce coming. They married at 21 because that's what their church requires them to do. Don't get me started on the weirdo bride and groom!

Grace--This wasn't a case of not fitting in the box--these were items from two different vendors. I like your idea of emailing over and over again. The phone calls every single day is not working. Well, unless you count getting my blood pressure up. Oh--Helene's blog is not showing up for some reason so I could not link her. I'm a jerk--but not that big that I wouldn't link her.

Helene--Another reason why Target sucks! Hey--Grace was trying to find your blog too!

Bumbles--I like the letter with the attached post. I may just try that. I have been boycotting my local Target for nearly 10 years because of their idiot managers, I don't think I want to go in and talk to them. But thanks for all the ideas. :)

Ann--This battle is wearing me down more than them. At some point I'm just annoying myself with their stupidity. Ugh.

Beaded Tail--I'm going to try emailing someone in corporate. The phone calls all just lead to the Philippines and fools.

Fran's Dad--Maybe I should just snag one of those carts and send it to the new couple. Hmmmmm... it's an idea. ;)

Sharky--Yeah, I'm so good at hiding my true feelings, aren't I??

The squeaky wheel does get the oil. Check this out, this is a blog of an author whose book I recently reviewed:
http://thepolymathchronicles.blogspot.com/2010/10/squeaky-wheel.html

Oh, and here are some phone numbers and email for Target corporate officer mucky-mucks:
http://consumerist.com/2008/06/target-ceo-gregg-steinhafels-email-address-and-phone-number.html

Give some of those a try. I'd send an email and copy all of them. It doesn't take a genius to figure out the other's email addresses. It's their first name.their last name@target.com

You might be surprised who you get a comment or e-mail from because of this blog :) Kevin posted once about some horrible service I got at our local Safeway and now they treat me like a queen! LOL
I hope that you get this resolved!

Lin said...

Lola--YOU ROCK!!! I am soooo going to send some folks some mail tomorrow! ;) I love the uppity-ups and I'm sure they are gonna love me too.

Stephanie--Does Target really care? I mean, their customer service is in the Philippines--doesn't that say something? All that I am asking for is for the back-order to be canceled. That's all. Nothing else. Ugh.

Grace said...

And in the emails - DO, DO, DO attach links to your posts.

Lin- where have you been hiding all this time??? Girl!!!You make me crack up big time :) I had to keep interrupting my man during the World Serious to read what you wrote that was cracking my butt up! Funny stuff!! Glad you found my blog so I could find yours!!!

Hmn....I don't get why people don't register with Amazon. Amazon has everything you could every want, fast shipping, AND good customer service. Sorry to hear about the target thing. I think just ordering things for other people (esp. when you barely know them) is awkward enough. Ugh.

Storm, The Psychotic Housewife said...

I love shopping IN Target - but online? Not so much. It's nice (sarcasm) to see things have changed so much on their site - we made the mistake of registering on there when we were married, and one of our gifts went AWOL. I was so embarrassed when we were asked if we liked it!

blueviolet said...

Did you tweet it? They'll listen on twitter. Trust me! They do not like to be called out.

Petula said...

Wow, really? Are they serious? You can make a Target.com sucks widget and we'll do a campaign against them. No one messes with my Lin and gets away with it!

Rebecca said...

I avoid Target like the plague. And I try to avoid WalMart, too.

Lin, you should try Buy.com sometime! I do ads for them, but I sincerely love them, and I buy from them often. I have been a customer for over 2 years, and can't sing their praises enough.

I think it's great that we "little people" can get blogs and write about our experiences. I think it is a terrific consumer tool. You go, girl!!!

Hot Rocks said...

That is freaking ridiculous! Obviously no customer service there. Guess you just gotta do what you gotta do and post about Targetsucks.com
