Fromage and Au Revoir

I think we spent the entire day taking photos at work yesterday.

So, my French intern pally from work is leaving for home today and I am very sad. Fun isn't really fun until you laugh with a french accent. Laura has a way of brightening up a day--stopping by my cubicle to talk of the latest shoe purchase or laugh about something silly with me and Irene. Gees, I'm gonna miss that chickie. Boo Hoo.

As a last minute effort to get her to stay, I figured out a plan for her to live here permanently. I'm nice like that--figuring out ways people can change their lives to make me happy.

I figured out that Jim could divorce/murder his wife, marry Laura and then he could brag to everyone about his young, French wife--his friends would be very jealous I think. She, on the other hand, would have the marriage to an American to get her green card AND she would have Jim as her husband--who just happens to have a boat-load of cash. Walah! See??! Perfect solution and I think that only took me like 3 minutes to set that up.

Personally, I think this is a win-win situation and I'm not sure why they balked. Laura said something about marrying for "love" and Jim was a bit uncomfortable about ditching his wife of 50 years. He said that wouldn't go over very big with her. Who cares???! Sheesh. Some people are never flexible.

I love my job for the new people I constantly meet. And while the hello's are a hoot, the good-byes are sometimes really hard. Losing Laura is one of the hard ones. I'm gonna miss that girl.

And I'll bet Jim kicks himself later for not going through with my plan--when he really thinks about it.

That just stinks she's leaving, but I find it so sweet that you take to your co-workers like that. You're probably a delight to work with!

As I sit here at MY job....ugh

Would your job take me on just for a day-I'd even pay THEM-just so I can see what a nice workplace is like? Oh please?

it wouldn't quite be a win win situation for everyone. Jim's wife wouldn't win too much in this deal :) Sorry you're losing your french pallie.

I, too, am good at figuring out ways people can change their lives to make me happy. But they just won't cooperate. And they'd be so much happier, too, if they would.

So, perhaps a little less laughter, but work will go on.

Jim is *such* a party pooper.

Or, you could just say that she is your long-lost daughter that you gave up for adoption and she has mysteriously returned! I like this option...this has alot of potential drama attached to it! It could become a tv show on Lifetime Television for Women and just think of the royalties you could get!!! hahahaha....

Bet Jim's wife wouldn't like that idea either! Maybe it'd be easier to just go visit Laura in France - often!

It's hard to say good-bye to friends!

Hope you enjoyed your last day with her.

So great that you have people you can really connect with at work.

Violet--Well, that depends on who you ask! I'm thinking I'm the only one who thinks I'm a "delight". ;)

Helene--C'mon over, Helene. We even get free lunch everyday! (Sorry--I shouldn't rub it in)

Ann--I guess you are right, but we can't make everyone happy right? ;)

Vanilla--NO kidding!! Imagine how happy Joe would be if he would just accommodate me all the time! ;)

CG--Sheesh! No kidding!

A.Marie--Yeah, but I don't want everyone to think that I am old enough to be her mother! I suppose I could be, but that just makes ME feel old. NOT an option.

Beaded Tail--She has offered and Irene and I were thinking about it! Could you imagine a place to stay for FREE in Paris???? Wanna come along?

Highway--He's an idiot! I mean, Laura is just the cutest thing! It really is a win-win-win!

Catherine--Oh, it IS so hard! She is hoping to come back in the spring, but still....

Pricilla--Well, I don't know about that, but we sure had fun laughing together. Laura was loved by everyone in the office.

Sharky--Oh, there are still some sausages, but I don't like to talk about them. I'd rather just hang with the folks that make me laugh.

Lin,
I had an assistant from Belgium a few years ago and she eventually did return, married a guy of her own choosing, and now lives here. So, you never can tell!

Patricia--Laura plans on coming back for another internship next year, so who knows where that will bring her. She is a great gal, so wherever she lands, I'm sure there will be 10 guys who will chase her. :)

ROFL! I think the plan would work. LOL... well, only if you hadn't announced it to the ENTIRE blogosphere.

I hate goodbyes.

It's always so sad when you meet someone nice and he/she has to leave.
I have lost many good expatriate neighbours who had return to their countries when their work contract expired.

Petula--Jim and Laura weren't cooperating anyway so it was safe to announce my plan. Sheesh. I thought it was brilliant!

Veronica--Some are easier than others, aren't they? There are a few folks at work that I'd like to ship off. ;)
