It's funny, but the more I know my frogs, the more I realize that I'm like them. I ride the water lilies of life, hanging on for dear life, just trying to enjoy the warm sunshine every now and then. I find joy in the simple things and please, just leave me alone for the most part--I'm pretty happy just hanging out here in the sun. And fellow frogs--I'm only tolerant so far. Try to climb on my lily pad and get a little too close--odds are I may leap at ya.
My favorite thing about the frogs are the ability to hang out and just watch--for a long time. And then, when things get a little too loud or fussy, homegirl is outta there. I'd rather bail than deal. It's just me.......well, and the frogs.
Anywho, we had a great weekend.
Colin came home to visit, which was nice. I sure miss just hanging out and talking to him. It takes him a good day or so to re-acclimate and warm up again, but it happens--we end up having a nice chat over the computer or in the pop-tart aisle at Walmart. Those are my favorite times--when we just shoot the crap. Gees, I miss him sometimes--a lot of times, actually.
The Marching Astros placed second in their category on Saturday. We won captions for "Best Visual" and for Colorguard--Em and the girls were very excited for that. Joe and I are totally taking credit for that as we fed and watered 15 colorguard girls for breakfast at 7:15 a.m. on Saturday. Within an hour, it was done and they were heading out the door for rehearsal. I'm not kidding when I say that I took a nap at 9:30.
And while I love the activity of having Colin home, 15 girls nomming on Monkey Bread and pancakes, and 8 hours of Marching Band competition out in the cold, I'm tired. I bailed under the solace of pajama pants and the internet on Sunday, catching up on my blogroll and what you are all doing. It's good to be the frog every now and then--dunking my head under the rough waters and hiding out until the madness settles.
Now it's Monday and we start again.....

I love your peeking frog photo! Hmmm...me thinks I am much like a frog.:) Have a super and calm week!
Sounds like you had a busy weekend my friend! It will be good to get back to work to have a rest! ;)
xo Catherine
Glad to hear you had a nice visit with your son. I agree with you...there is nothing wrong with being a frog!
You have convinced me a frog's life may be just the one for me! I know what you mean about enjoying the little moments, especially when the boy come home from college and just hangs out with me. SIgh. I miss him.
I think that is the best pic yet. Seriously. LOVE IT. I had to look a few times to see the frog. I don't know how you manage to capture these!
Love your frog analogy too. I WISH I was more like that!
Protect your lilypad!
We're off to a state park again, this one on the outskirts of a city that provides free wifi. Imagine my surprise when I found I could connect and find out how Lin's weekend went!
Congratulations to the Marching Astros and the Colorguard! Your weekend sounds like a fun but busy one. Glad you got to recoup some yesterday before heading back to work today. Love the frog photo and the analogy too!
Well, tired and all, it sounds like you had a great weekend! If we're not tired when we have to get up Monday morning, then life just isn't any fun, right?
After reading your description I think I may be a frog myself.
Congrats to the Astros on second place.
Great weekend.
I miss color guard. I miss band competitions. Glad you got some rest on Sundays. Have a day once in a while in your jammy pants is wonderful.
Well, it's good to know that you like to hide out and chill every once in a while. You sure have charmed those froggies to pose.
You always make me so sentimental for the marching band competitions. Glad you had some time with Colin this weekend.
Sounds like a fun-packed weekend for sure. 9:30 nap, huh? Honestly, that sounds faaabulous.
Jodi--Oh, another contest, another version of the show. It changes and changes--working out the kinks. It was nice for them to win.
Jean--I love those darn frogs! I love how they just hang there and watch the world....until it gets too crazy.
Catherine--No kidding! And then we finish up the week to do it all over again on the weekend! Yikes!
Hot Rocks--Well, a frog in the summer weather anyway. Wait! Maybe hibernating isn't such a bad plan for winter!
Betty--I really miss Colin today. I was sad all day. There just isn't enough time with him it seems.
peewee--I swear those frogs pose for me. Some are more scared than others, but the big guy just poses! I'm glad you liked it--I did too.
Vanilla--Oh, enjoy the camping! I'm jealous!!! Wish I was off enjoying some nature instead of working.
Beaded Tail--Marching season is very crazy, but then I spend the rest of the year wishing we were in it again. It is really fun to see the kids perform.
Nancy--Oh, how I would have loved to sleep in this morning! I was very grumpy at work.
Ann--I love how the frogs bail when things get messy. They hide out until the madness leaves. I like that.
Highway--This whole band thing is going way too fast! We only have another 2 marching seasons left. I may have to adopt a band kid or something.
Sharky--Oh man, we are dead on Sundays! Sitting in the cold bleachers is KILLER on your body, believe it or not. Joe and I were both sacked out!
Violet--I don't know what I'm going to do when the kids graduate. I think I'm gonna be one of those weirdos who go for fun even though my kids are gone. But only if it is warm and sunny! ;)
Cute--NOT kidding. I slept for an hour and a half!! Breakfast KILLED me!
You DIDN'T like the skanky dancers????
Lauren--Oh NO! I LOVED them!! Didn't you???! (NOT)
A frog's life sounds good. Glad you got to spend time with Colin.
Have a nice day, pally!
I identify with the frogs too. There are just times when I need to snuggle in and relax without distractions or busyness.
Did you make sure Colin went back to school with plenty of Pop tarts and other goodies?
I can't even imagine life once my kids have gone off to college. You must miss Colin like crazy.
Veronica--It was nice to see Colin, but I think it was harder this time to see him go. :(
Chocolate--I like their ability to hang out for so long and then bail to the depths of the pond. Oh, to be able to just hold your breath and hide under the lily pads must be great!
Anne--I do!! I cried this week because I missed him so. And our relationship has changed, which is hard. I expected it, but it is still hard to not have him here to just hug or talk to.
