JD's Uncle Tim

Hey, guess who was in town recently? Yep, JD's Uncle Tim--you know, as in Tim Gunn. (He's on Project Runway for those who are wondering.)

And while I struggled to figure out how to get my tired hiney downtown to see him after a long day, I realized I had to give up the quest. I guess it would be sorta creepy to "visit" with him again--for him, I mean, not me. Me? I was all ready to meet up with JD and storm the dude! Now talk about scary. Somehow I think me and JD together would just scare the crap out of Tim Gunn.

Sigh, I love me some Tim Gunn.
(What the hell is with my hair? Did I just wake up or what?!)

Here's where I'm all chattin' it up with my pally.
Notice how he's intently listening to whatever the heck
I was talking about.
I am an idiot.

And here's the part where I don't remember what the hell
I was saying to him,
but I do remember distinctly that he told me I looked "lovely".
So, I've got that going for me.

And the dress?
Still got it. Can't part with it--
Tim told me I looked "lovely" in it.
Sigh.

And THE photo that you have all seen like a cabillion times,
which sits framed on my family room side table.
And that you are all secretly jealous of.

Dang. Why didn't I go the other night????

Lovely indeed! And I was thinking your hair was so cute ~ but don't we all have that 'hair dint' on the back of our head? I know I do. :)

Have the happiest of Fridays dear Lin!

TIM! Sob.

We should've gone. I had plans with my mom, but now that I think of it, I bet she would've loved to meet Uncle Tim. Dang.

You DO look lovely. And Tim has such a "TIM" expression as he's talking to you.

We will have our Tim memories forever.

Cherish the moment. It will live forever. Why risk disenchantment in hopes of embellishment?

btw, he was right-- you look great.

I just finished my morning coffee and visiting with your Uncle Tim...why the hell did you not drag your arse down there to see him again?!!!! You totally should have!!!!!

I never heard of him until you posted something last time and I still have no clue...

Those are special moments. And Tim is right--you are lovely.

I remember standing in line to shake Jackie Stewart's hand. The "Flying Scot" was at Michigan International Speedway and everyone wanted to see the racing celeb. I reached the front of the line, took his hand, looked him in the eye and said "Aaahh." My brother-in-law, who was standing behind me, broke up in gales of laughter. At least that didn't happen to you.

Calling all fashionistas! (Especially lovely looking ones)
You should have gone! I do love him on Project Runway. He does look like a very intense listener.

I bet Tim was looking for you too! Hopefully he wasn't too disappointed you didn't make it but maybe next time.

Girl, you are so cute. I love the way Tim is looking intently at you. It's as if you are totally telling him how he should change things on Project Runway and he's saying, "Yes, well thank you, I'll take that into consideration."

When he comes back, you'll definitely have to look him up.

Oh yes, I do remember your visit with him because I'm SO JEALOUS!!! I would be panicky about what to wear to go meet him, I mean, It's TIM GUNN!! You're right to never let go of that dress:)

Catherine--Can you believe I had a hair dint talking to TIM GUNN?! I am truly an idiot. Sigh.

JD--I made my mom go and meet him, JD. Who do you think was taking the photos??! That's what I love about these photos--he was just so "Tim Gunn" when I was talking to him. He is exactly like you expect him to be in real person. Sigh. I love him.

Vanilla--Maybe I was secretly afraid that my second visit with him would disappoint? Maybe that's it. Do you know how hard it was to dress when you know you are meeting Tim Gunn??? Very hard.

Jodi--I KNOW! And JD and I actually talked about going, but we knew it was going to be nuts and there just wasn't the time to organize it. I'm still regretting it.

Helene--Oh, pally. You have SO got to watch Project Runway. Thursdays on Lifetime 8:00 p.m.

Chuck--Aw, thanks for the compliment, pally. Isn't it funny what we do and say with "celebrities"? I was so afraid I'd be a bumbling fool in front of Tim. You can see he wasn't laughing at me--whew!

Hot Rocks--He was everything I wanted him to be and MORE! He was great to meet in person--just like he is on TV. Man, he is such a sweet guy.

Rebecca--Sigh. He's on Project Runway on Lifetime (formerly of Bravo). He is also creative consultant for Liz Claiborne. He is this really sweet guy that helps everyone with their designs and gives constructive criticism. I adore him.

peewee--I actually told him that it was very difficult to dress that day, knowing that he was going to be in the room. He just laughed and told me I looked lovely. I'll remember the moment forever. :) He is really nice to meet in person.

Betty--Oh, Betty, he is GREAT in person! He is everything you want him to be. :)

Pricilla--I think he would. He is very nice and I think he secretly likes goats. :)

Tracy--With or without me in the photo??? And what kind of paper do you use to make them? I'm soooo gonna try.

Beaded Tail--Oh, I'm SURE he was looking for me! Hahaha! He was thinking "Hey, where's that crazy lady with the bad hair?"!

Chocolate--I think I was asking him where he learned to be so darn tactful. It is something I cannot do for the life of me and it gets me in trouble. I'm telling you, he was really nice to chat with for those couple of minutes. He really listened--you can see that in the photos! What a great guy. Sigh.

Nancy--That was totally the situation and I think I said that to him. He was laughing. I'm still regretting that JD and I didn't go together to see him--I think that would have been a hoot.

Natalee--This was like 2 years ago, but it remains one of my favorite things that I have done. It was just so fun to meet him in person and then he was so darn nice on top of it. I'm not kidding that I have this photo on my table for everyone to see.

Once again I am out of the loop - But you do look lovely!

I have no clue who Tim Gunn is or what Project Runway is. How sad am I? You do look marvelous though and I'm sure Time was disappointed that he didn't get to see you again.

I LOVE Tim Gunn known as Guru Tim occassionally on my blog. My cats were very opinionated about Project Catway (Runway) for a while till Casanova was given the boot.. Tim is such a gentle soul at least on the show.

I run in the wrong circles. Who is Tim Gunn. But the dress is colorful! Excuse me now, I have to go run in that circle.

Helene said...

I have never seen it. Send me a reminder :-)

I dress like crap most days. He'd cringe. It would be like Mr Blackwell's worst dressed list

Lin said...

Grace--Well, being out of the loop is better than not liking Tim, Grace. You earned a mulligan today. :)

Ann--Really??! I think you would like Project Runway. It is clothing designers competing on challenges. Look for it on Thursdays on Lifetime.

Ozark Mtn Cats--Did you like Cassanova?? I have to say, I do not like the designers this season. They are just nasty and they aren't very good. Mondo is the only one I find palatable. And just so you know, Tim was everything you imagine him to be in person. He was so nice and personable in person too. Look how he's listening to me in these photos. He was a HOOT!

Sharky--It's a happy circle though, no?! :) Embrace the circle, Sharky!!!

Helene--I will...IF I remember. :) Hee! Hee! He told me that he doesn't judge others by what they wear and after meeting him, I don't doubt it. He was very kind when I met him.

Okay, well how bout a double sited one, tim on one side you on the back???? lol..

I'm not you you can feed the paper thru that I used - it was so thick. I dont even know if it would get thru the printer I have now.

I think the best option is to use what ever will go thru - and maybe I can laminate it when I get it? That will stiffin it up?

OMG Im so beyond exited!!

A lin and tim mark!

I just can't say it loud enough....I ABSOLUTELY LOVE TIM GUNN!!! Oh My Goodness...you are soooo lucky to have met and talked with him! And he said you looked lovely?!! If he had said that to me, I would probably have fainted from sheer happiness...

Can you tell that I am a HUGE Tim Gunn fan??!!! LOL

btw: He is right...you are very lovely in that dress! :)

I was watching Project Runway the other night and I thought of you!!

You certainly look gorgeous Lin!

Lin said...

Merry--Me too. :) Sigh. And the more I see of him this season, the more I respect him. I love that he isn't afraid to voice his opinion.

Tracy--Okay, let me work on it. I'm anxious to see if it turns out. :)

A.Marie--I was downright giddy meeting him, A.Marie!! He is absolutely ADORABLE and so nice in person. Didn't let me down.

Veronica--Oh, I didn't know if you got that by you! I'm so glad you do!! Don't you just love Tim???
