Guess Who's Coming to Homecoming?

Saturday night brought us Homecoming 2010. And while having a date is nice, I think going with a group of friends is always the better option--I think you have more fun. That way you aren't limited to who you can dance or hang with. Apparently the girls thought like I did.

Here is Em's group of pallies:
(photos removed for privacy)

Lauren (far left) came over to get dressed and made-up with Emma. There was lots of cracking up, discussions about make-up, and then a mad dash to Walgreen's to buy Bump-its for their hair. Lauren was pulling off a mean "Snookie" do, thanks to Em.

Later in the day there was a huge rush of excitement as it was announced to Joe and I that Matt Cabel was coming to our house for photos.

MATT CABEL???! What??! No WAY!!

Who is Matt Cabel? I don't know. But everyone was very excited that he was coming over and going with them. I was just excited that he chose our house to come to. Lucky us. I was honored.

I told Joe quietly not to ask who Matt Cabel was. I also mentioned that our social status just climbed way high and not to say a thing to the girls about it. So, he does what Joe does best--he went right in to ask Emma who Matt Cabel is. Sigh. He doesn't get it.

Emma, Lauren, Alexis, Liz, and Sarah

We don't get much information, so you just have to listen very carefully in the car and around the house the next day, but I guess the dance was a success. Somehow, they lost Matt Cabel but hooked up with a very handsome Alec--who I think has a thing for Em. There were smiles as long as that kid's legs the next day, so I guess she had fun.

I don't think I'm getting anything more than that. Sorry. If we want juicy stories, I guess we are just gonna have to make them up. Sheesh.

I am really curious about that fine-looking young man in the picture. Should I be jealous or feel sorry for him?

Wowie! You are deep into the school year after less than a month! Sounds like they had a ball.

Wow I kept thinking when is Emma going to be in a picture with them. Sheesh.

They are making memories, Mom. It's only been sixty years since I was sixteen, and I still remember.
Painful as that is.

I shoud have taught Matt Cabel a thing or two before he popped over for pictures with his herum...the lone ranger is always to arrive with a single rose for each girl. hehehe

Em, dam girl, you are looking goOOooOood! That dress and those long beautiful legs...I say no more. The picture speaks!

And I thought Pablo was the luckiest guy around when escorted Briana and Eliza to the prom. Matt had five beauties to escort? On the other hand, Pablo escorted them back home.

I love the group gathering concept so much more than "the date" we worried and stressed about in high school. Just go with your friends and have a good time. All the girls looked beautiful.

Wow, Lin, you have a hottie on your hands. Em is gorgeous! I'm curious about that Matt guy. Well, I guess I'll have to make do with the made up stories in my head. :-) All the girls look fabulous and I'm so glad they had fun getting ready. I love living vicariously through Amber 'cause I didn't get to do any of this stuff as a teen. Amber has been to dances with her girlfriends and groups as well as on dates so she's had a lot of fun, experiences and memories!

Matt certainly looks happy!

Aw, that's so wonderful! Back when I was a kid, "going with a friend" was so frowned on. I wish I had done so, though-- I would have had SO much more fun!

And holy cow, your gal is tall!!!

Whoa, she does have some legs on her!
That is a gorgeous dress. I could have never pulled that off - even when I was at my best.

They all look lovely. Even super dude.

The only way I found out info was doing the carpooling and of course, listening to them chatter as they got their makeup and hair done with their friends. It was funny to be a fly on the wall, just driving while they were all giggling and talking about boys and all.

Joe is hilarious. I'm sure he got "the look" when he asked.

Em is absolutely gorgeous. They all looked beautiful and of course, THE Matt Cabel looked handsome.

It was like pulling teeth to get info out of my son, who also had his homecoming dance the same day. I'm hoping to get more info today. (The same way you do it, just paying attention and eavesdropping. Lol!)

They're all so adorable!! I never EVER looked that good at any school dance! EVER!

The girls look great and that Matt sure is one lucky guy in the middle of all of them

They are all so gosh darn cute! (I feel old, sniff sniff!) Loving the pretty dresses the girls picked out!

Matt Cabel was at your house! That's cool! :) He is sure one lucky guy to get to go to the dance with those 5 beautiful girls. They all look so pretty and Em is gorgeous! You are in for some fun times Mom!

What fun! Last spring we met a group of 3 girls and 2 boys all dressed up for prom. The girls were dressed like yours. It was SNOWING out, and they were having ice cream (so were we), and having a great time!

Fish--Yeah, I haven't figured that out yet either! Well, he's smiling...I think that is good. Oh, and for the record...that is MATT CABEL!!! ;0

DG--Oh, they jump in fast in high school. You gotta hang on for dear life just to keep up!

Helene--She's in there. And her long legs too!

Vanilla--Yeah, I still remember too. How come I was such a dork back then???

Jodi--I think his late decision to come over didn't give him time to get flowers. Gees, they would have fallen over! Can you believe that kid's legs??? I didn't even care if her dress was short--I'd KILL to look like that just once.

Wen--I think I'm working all week, but maybe off Friday??? I hope so anyway. All the girls looked so cute, didn't they?? And Matt Cabel.....???!

Chuck--Hahaha! I think they scared Matt off, Chuck. :)

Highway--Dates aren't so common anymore. I like that they go with a group of friends, I think it makes things a lot easier.

Petula--From what I understand, Matt is hilarious and everyone adores him. ALL the girls wanted to be his date, but the one girl he asked turned him down. Go figure. I think he was better off going with this group--they were very excited to have him along.

Stacie--Yeah, they grow up fast. I miss all the gossip. :(

Grace--Doesn't he??! He's no dummy.

Rebecca--Isn't she tall?? And those legs! I'm sooo jealous. I guess that is why I let her wear the short dress. You can only do that for so long.

Pricilla--I almost died when I saw her legs in that dress and those heels! They are killer, I guess that is why I let her get it. Color me jealous--I never had legs like that!

Chocolate--Can you even believe MATT CABEL was at our house???! ;) I love to listen to them. Do you think I'm obvious???

Lola--And ask leading questions! Let me know if you found out anything juicy!! ;)

peewee--Neither did I, that's why I spent too much money on a way too short dress! You gotta live once! Well, and when you've got legs like that....

Ann--Isn't he cute??! They were a cute bunch going off together.

Storm--YOU?! I'm her MOM! Ugh. I really feel old.

Beaded Tail--Yep! We hosted MATT CABEL!! :) Hee! Hee! I really liked that they were here for photos--they are so much fun to listen to.

Sharky--They had to have been FREEZING! But the kids don't care. It's so different from when we were kids.

We've got another week or so before homecoming, but my daughter (a freshman) all ready has a date to the freshman dance. It's a casual affair and I hope more of her friends are planning to go. I agree, it's more fun with the group!

Lin said...

Jean--The best part is that they are really good kids. :) I enjoy them so!

Stephanie--Aren't they so grown up nowadays?? Yikes, I don't remember looking so good!

Lynne--I think they learn really quickly that dates are just a pain, although Em was hoping for that special someone to ask her. I hope your daughter has a good time!
