Have I mentioned how much I love Drum Line? Sigh.
We were a tad rusty this weekend, working out the kinks of a brand new show and getting settled into the music and the routine. We ended up taking 1st place in our class, and winning both Best Visual Effect and Percussion, which was nice.
The highlight was the announcement that our Drum Majors, Linnea and Christa, won Best Drum Majors overall--over 23 bands!! And when I say that, I think you ought to know that we beat our some serious competitors. There are about 6-8 of those bands that rehearse the same routine for 12 months out of the year and their drum majors train for years.
So, here is my pally Wendy's daughter, Linnea, totally kicking drum major butt and killing them all. Wow. Talk about a hoot! I was so happy, I felt like it was my own kid. And to beat those huge bands--it was sweet revenge.
I'm pooped. It took me the whole day yesterday to recover. And while I'm tired and my butt is really aggravated, it was nice to get the win and some snappy new leopard print wellies to wear for future rainy events.

I've always been impressed by the drum lines myself. Just love listening to and watching them. Way to go to your friends daughter
Love the wellies.
Such devotion! What kicks!
Well now ~ if you are going to sit out in the rain all day ~ best to do it looking sexy in those leopard spotted rain boots! Fantastic!
Have a fabulous week Lin!
xo Catherine
Wahoo! Go Lins' marching band:) Sounds like quite an event of rewards. AND, you were stylin' Little known fact: Mike and My first date was to see Stomp The Yard (about the drum line:)
AWESOME!! Where did your band compete at? Our first competition is coming up this saturday...I'm so excited! :)
Yup on the drum lines - my favorite. There is an awesome movie by that name. And congrats to the winners!
Now you can date Hobbes out using that boat. I am sure he will be excited!
There is nothing like a good cadence from the drumline. Gets the whole body pumping.
Loving all the trophies the Astros brought home! (I want to see what your guard is wearing...cause from what little is in the pic I think I love). But most of all I am loving the wellies!!
PS I did rain last for the first competition and I was miserable.
Awww Lin...thanks for all the support and kind words. The day definately put a smile on my face. I suppose I need to get some wellies if I am going to sit with you from now on in the stands... Hmmm??? Maybe instead of a leapord print I'll pick a coon print...I do look good in black & white.
GO ASTROS!
Wendy
Honey, my butt aches thinking about it but those wellies rock.
Those sure are snazzy... hot mama! ;)
Congratulations on the win and the wellies.
Lin- You are a trooper. I don't quite understand your love for all this, but I really enjoy drum & bugle corps things, so I "get it" a bit. Boots are...wild!
I love a drum line but more importantly where did you get those wellies?
We went to the Oregon State game Saturday and I watched the band a lot and noticed the drum line and how they toss their drumsticks after every beat. It was fun to watch. I could have used those wellies because it was raining here too! Those are cool!
Ann--I just love how sharp the drum line is. They stand out to me for some reason. I guess I should be watching my own kid, right?? Oops.
Vanilla--Aw, I really enjoy this time of year. I wonder if I'll go anymore once my kids graduate?
Catherine--Aren't they cute? They were a last minute purchase to keep my feet dry. Who knew they'd be so cute??
Nancy--Ooooh! Is that the same thing as Stomp? Love them. Drummers are just so....cool.
A.Marie--We were at Wheaton North. We have Downer's Grove So, Prospect, and U of I yet. Are you going to any of those?? I hope to see you one of these days!
Grace--I have that movie on DVD! It is very cool. There is no explaining just how cool drum line is. They have attitude like no other!
V7--What???! What boat??? What am I missing??
Jodi--That isn't our band, pally. We have the same uniforms from last year--our budget doesn't allow for new uniforms each year. :( I'm digging the wellies because they kept my feet warm and dry. I think they are a band parent's friend.
Wen--Oh, they have all kinds, Wen! And let me tell you how warm and dry my feet were! It was a last minute, but brilliant purchase! Linnea ROCKS!
Tracy--Ohhhh, I can't begin to tell you how my tailbone retaliated the next day...and the next...and the next. Ugh. Bleachers suck. Well, at least I looked cute while I was in pain.
Cute--Aren't they snappy???! It was a very cool last minute purchase. :)
Pricilla--Who knew wellies could be so fun???! They are GREAT for the cold and wet! I highly recommend them.
Sharky--This is really similar to drum and bugle corp actually. The music and field shows are very cool, so it really is something to enjoy. I just wish the stands were indoors with lounge chairs. :)
Highway--Famous Footwear. Aren't they fab???! They really kept my feet warm and dry. It was a really smart last minute purchase. I literally bought them on the way to the contest. :)
Beaded Tail--Get yourself some wellies NOW! They are sooo GREAT for the cold and rain! They are kinda fun to wear too--reminds me of being a kid and jumping in puddles. :) Isn't drum line cool?? They just have attitude and do the coolest stuff!
So cool! I would love to see this.
Congrats on the win, Lin! LOL, that rhymes!! I would so love to see this.
And those wellies rock!!
Happy Tuesday, my fav bloggy pally!
Awesome win!
I am in love with those wellies!!
A drummer led me to Christ-does God know how to get me to listen or what??
