BarkFest 2010

I love when Sammy the Weiner Dog comes to stay with us and barks his fool head off at the two goofs next door. Those 3 will stand there for minutes just barking like knuckleheads until I yell at them to knock it off. Sammy listens to my plea for silence and quickly walks away, but Yip Yap the Non-Stop Barking Dog doesn't ever stop, hence the name. I hate that animal.

Those neighbors are clueless that those animals are out there barking endlessly, annoying the hell out of the rest of the neighborhood. They only come out to check when Sammy comes and joins in the Hound Jamboree--and then they have the nerve to tell Sammy to be quiet. Really?!

See--that is why I hate my neighbors. And so, I find happiness and joy in riling their two beasts up and then we quickly skedaddle into the house knowing those folks are finally annoyed with our barking dog.

Ah, neighbor wars.

Send Sammy over here any time. My neighbors bark and they are the human kind. I can't say more cos you'll kick me out of your comments :-) I hate living in North Englewood. I long ago renamed our town.

That is why I can not live in town, rude neighbors! Apparently 15 acres isn't enough either because we have had to call the sheriff about our neighbors here...I need a 100 acres and a uni-bomber shack I guess!

Isn't it amazing that some people can't hear their dogs bark ~ especially so early in the morning when you have your bedroom window open trying to catch a lovely breeze but then get woken up by the crazy barking going on and on and on and on.... geeze!!!

Boo and Hiss to rude dog owners!!!

Have a Happy Monday Lin!

I hate your neighbors too.

If I owned a barking dog, I would do everything in my power to try to keep him quiet, for fear of disturbing the neighbors. THAT'S how (good) neighbors act.

Of course, good neighbors also rile up their dogs to bother bad neighbors. It's perfectly within the Neighbor Code.

There needs to be a little hole in the fence so Sammy can go do his duty in their yard!

I have one of these neighbors. Its a complicated situation, because she's the adoptive mother of a bunch of special needs kids and no one wants to give her any trouble, but her dog barks ALL DAY in this little pen enclosure on the side of the house. We kept giving her a pass because we know she has more pressing things to contend with, but when I get home from a 12 hour ambulance shift, get 40 minutes of sleep, and the dog starts barking (usually right around the time 3 or 4 of her unsupervised children begin playing in the street in front of my house) my compassion is wearing thin.

Before Midnight left the barn to come live in the house with us, he made us promise, No Dogs. The closest canines are the coyotes that inhabit this neighborhood. Meghan has dogs, but they are well behaved and well cared for.

Good job Sammy!!!

Think of those poor dogs barking all day and getting no response from anyone. I'm on their side and their owners are idiots...

I could comment but I have Caesar the wonder mouth Pomeranian who wore a battery out in ONE day wearing a barkless collar.

I am sure my neighbors hate me with a deep and dark passion.

Way to go Sammy! You annoy those neighbors as much as you can while you are there!

Sadie never barks when she's outside and she stays inside when we're gone so she'd make a very good neighbor for you and Hobbes!

JODI said...

So do you think if I leave Uli out to dark her tail off the "frat boys" next door will pack up and move? I wanna hear that I have power with the pouch. :-)

JODI said...

I meant bark, not dark.

Helene said...

Amen, Grace

Its like the people who bring their kids to Walmart at all hours then start screaming at them and hitting them when they cry. They have no idea kids should be home eating dinner or napping or in bed at 10pm. Argh.

lol! Sammy looks like a true "barker".

I sometimes think people with annoying dogs don't hear their own dogs barking. Our neighbors have a dog that barks ALL NIGHT LONG. I don't sleep so I can't figure that they are sleeping either.

Do they do anything?
Of course not. Their air conditioner probably blocks out the noise.
Stupid dog.

Go Sammy. Gotta love a little guy with spunk :)

Yah, nice chain link fence between the two of you. Has it got rolls of barbed wire on the top?

LOL

DG--It's crazy and LOUD! Brownie would love it! ;)

Helene--I kinda feel that way about Weirdville. It's not dangerous here--just....well....weird.

Melodie--I don't like neighbors either and I'm sure they feel the same way about me. We live waaayyyy too close here.

Catherine--My favorite is when they finally do come out and tell Sammy to hush. I'm like "Really?!" and they see no problem in that. It amazes me still.

JD--Oh, the code has been broken a loooong time ago. It's all out war at this point. When they called the cops on us for "abusing" our kids, that's the day it started. Thanks for hating them too. ;)

Diana--Oh, they wouldn't notice. There is so much dog crap piled up over the year, they'd never notice. It's a good thought though! I like your thinking, Diana.

Sheildmaiden--They are the perfect example of who SHOULDN'T have a dog. They can't control the kids, why on earth would they have a dog???! Poor animal.

Vanilla--Oh, give me the one week of vengeance, will ya???

Daisy--Yeah! Grace and Hobbes are nowhere around for this, Daisy. It is very barky and very loud. Not good for kitties.

Chuck--My kitties don't really mind Sammy because he is a nice dog, especially inside. He is very respectful of the kitties actually. I think Grace "told" him to be nice a looooong time ago--with a little help from her nails. ;)

Stephanie--We actually have to egg him on to go and bark at them! I know, I know. We are bad, but it is a little fun. ;)

Grace--No kidding. Nobody gives them any attention for the most part and then they come out sometimes and fall all over those poor creatures. The dogs are just confused. My frustration with Yip Yap comes in that he can't remember us from day to day. The little dude barks at me like he's never seen us before and he's been here like 9 years. He's kinda dumb.

Highway--Hahaha! I love the collar story!

Beaded Tail--Please move next door, Sadie! You may not like living by Hobbes, though. He would come in your yard when you were inside like your neighbor cat. He is a big tease.

Jodi--No such luck. I would think frat boys would do mean things to the dog if she barked at them all the time. See, I'm being much more "mature" than a frat boy. ;)

Helene--Yeah! What is with that??! Poor kids, eh?

Natalee--Oh, I egg him on, totally! It's hilarious and fun to get even just a bit for one week out of the year.

Roschelle--I guess he is really bad at barking at home, but not here. It must be that it isn't his home. I have to really get him fired up to go over and bark at those two. I totally egg him on.

Pricilla--They don't hear their own dogs for some reason! It drives me nuts! I have neighbors on the next block who can hear Yip Yap and yet they go for hours without calling them in. They have a whole wall of windows that looks over our yard--I like to rile those dogs up inside the house to drive them crazy. It's hilarious to hear them barking inside the house!

Ann--He's got a little spunk and a LOT of bark!! I wait for this one week each year to have some fun. ;) I think Sammy likes it too.

Rebecca--I wish!

Seriously, that is why I used to let one of my corgis in the past bark his fool head off sometimes at the neighbor's dog - I used to have to listen to that beast all. day. long.

The folks behind us now have a little dog that yaps all the time too. My two just look at it through the fence like it's nuts. lol

Lin said...

Storm--I don't get how folks don't hear their own dogs. It's just madness. I'm glad I'm not the only one who seeks revenge. :)

Veronica Lee said...

That's why I live in a condo where pets especially dogs are not allowed.

Yet there are still a few recalcitrant dog owners and you can hear those incessant barks.

Have a nice day, Lin!

Go Sammy! Bark hard and loud! LOL ;)

Nancy said...

Haha. You know what they say about payback! But...some people are too stupidly wrapped up in their own egos to even realize that they are being avenged rather than put out. So not satisfying.

P.S.- LOVE the new photos of Hobbes and Grace:)

Anne said...

You go weiner dog. Show those neighbor dogs how to behave.

Lin said...

Veronica--Dogs = barking. Hence, I don't own a dog. And I like dogs, but I hate that whole noisy thing and....well....the poop out in the yard. Ick.

June Zach--That's what I do--I encourage him! It's so much fun. :)

Nancy--Even if they don't get it, I'm so into revenge. :) Even if he doesn't feel like barking, I get Sammy all riled up to join in the fun. Heck, it's once a year. Might as well enjoy it. :)

Anne--Or just annoy the crap out of them! ;)
