Left-overs

I love these "holidays" which are really just a day added on the weekend after a holiday. I love that we don't have to be anywhere today and I can just catch up on what needs to be done around here.....or not.

I love that when you finally do go back to work, you don't know what day it is. You are all "Ugh, Monday..." when it is really Tuesday and you are one day away from Hump Day. Or you think it is Thursday, but it is really Friday and you are wrapping things up for another weekend. I like that feeling.

We had a great 4th of July, I hope you all did too. I'm hopping over to your place today to read all about what your adventures were. I've got a lot of catching up to do today.

We went off with our pallies, Wendy and Steve, for a little jaunt in the cruiser on the Illinois River yesterday. We packed four kids and the four of us on their boat and just hung out for the day. It was lovely--the weather was great, the kids laughed, we gobbled down tons of food, and we just relaxed and enjoyed good company. How blessed we are to have such wonderful friends. We all came home tired and happy--it was a good day.

And to think we have that little left-over of a day! Hooray! Gees, I'm not sure I can squeeze any more relaxation into my weekend, but I'm certainly going to try.

Happy holiday-that-isn't-really-a-holiday, pallies!

Sounds like your weekend was great. We had a similar type and it was equally wonderful!! Here it's "Canada Day" weekend, but you know, same idea.

Glad you had a grand ole time. (I posted a comment on yesterdays post but it's not there...hmmm)

How fun to spend time with your family and friends in a boat on the river. Yes, the extra day off is sweet.

I'm enjoying the day too, with nothing more than catching up with my blogging friends.

Love the photo.

What a wonderful weekend. Mine was great too and just spending the late afternoon catching up on the blog world.

To me the only thing worse than going to work on Monday is going to work on a Tuesday-Monday. I'll be screwed up all week long. But at least it will go by quick

Now, standing in some cool water looks like a great plan. It was hot and humid enough here, and we are cooler than most of the midsection of the country. Missed ya'... but I'll be around for a while now.

Unfortunately, I had to work today but I am glad to hear that you enjoyed your day off :). The boat sounds awesome and I bet it was cooler than on land.

Princess--Oh! Happy Canada Day!! I hope you enjoyed your holiday too.

Grace--Hmmmm. I wonder what happened? Did you do the secret word thingy?? I hope it was a good comment.

Terra--I love days off!! I need a whole week just to catch up!

Marilynne--I tried to catch up, but outside was calling me again! Summer is tough on blogging, isn't it?

Highway--Glad you had a good holiday. I could use another one! You too?! :)

Ann--Oh yeah, all week we'll be "What day is it???". :) By the time we figure it out, it will be Friday! Hooray!

Sharky--Oh, good! I'm glad you are back for awhile! We missed you. It was hot here too. I'm getting kind of tired of that.

Anne--Every single time I complain about work, I just think that it would be worse to be unemployed like so many others. I guess we should be thankful for that, right? And yes, it was cooler on the water. Thank goodness!

Glad you had a wonderful, long holiday weekend! I love short work weeks especially when my 3 day work week becomes a 2 day one!

Hope Hobbes recovered from the fireworks! Angel slept most of the day since she was so scared she didn't get much sleep last night.

LIN! You're supposed to change the comment options to make this a pop up box.

I'm waiting.

Oh yeah. Happy 4th and all that jazz.

I took your advice and stayed out of here for the weekend. Guests on Saturday/Sunday and basement work detail on Monday. No life is back to normal, and that's good.

I'm so glad to hear you guys had a good fourth. We spent the long weekend at the beach with my mom, sister and niece. A much needed (but not nearly long enough) break :)

I'm sorry to hear about all the loss at the pond. I read that post first but wanted to comment here :) That way, I won't forget! I hope you're able to trap the raccoon soon and prevent any more deaths of fish, tadpole or froggie.

And tell Hobbes to lay off the dragonflies. Doesn't he know they symbolize good luck?

Cheers,
Jen

Beaded Tail--Oh, I love me a short work week and I don't even work full-time either! :)

CG--If I had two minutes of free time in my life, I would: change the layout, freshen up my profile, post ahead, AND add a pop-up box! I'm gonna look into it for you--just to make you happy.

Catherine--Me too! Wish they were every weekend! I got lots done!

Chuck--Hey, everyone else is off for a bit, you might as well too. :) Felt good, didn't it?

Jen--Sounds like you had a good holiday too. Hooray! Someone told me that dragonflies only live for a day! How sad that is that Hobbes ruined that guys ONE day!

Ahh, nice... a bonus day. Glad you guys had a great 4th. We had some friends over to swim and bbq. And do wimpy toddler friendly fireworks. It was fun though, minimal tantrums.

Sweep the Leg! I *am* happy! Hmm, that looks like it's a shock that I'm happy. That's not the case today.

Today I'm jacked and excited -- that STL was a declaration of joy followed up with a verification of joy.

I love these pop-up comments. Even more so, I love the service I get at Chez Duck and Wheel.

Magnifique -- thanks Lin!

Casey--Any day that has minimal tantrums is a holiday in my book! Hooray! I hope everyone went to bed tired, happy, and EARLY!! ;)

CG--We are all about service here at the Duck and Wheel. (Actually, I like this pop-up thingy too! It's much easier to answer comments)
