Commence breathing

I love holiday weeks when Friday comes and you aren't even aware it's Friday but everybody else is and you just act surprised and relieved that it is Friday even though it doesn't feel like it. Do you know what I mean? Criminy, I was handed my check stub yesterday and I was all happy that A) it is Friday and B) I'm gettin' some badly needed moolah, even if it is measly and never quite enough.

Hey, good news--Mutha Bunny came back and is raising those wee bunny babes just fine! I texted Angie from work yesterday and she texted JoAnn, who looked out her window to check and she said they were growing like weeds. (Check out Alan's latest update in the comments today) Hooray! I wish those people could just rig up a bunny-cam for us. Little did they know that half of the internet was worried sick about our Stack-O-Bunnies. Whew! We can all rest easy once again knowing they are safe.

Life is good here--and there. Lots going on and parties galore this weekend. I'm trying to keep my frazzled head focused on important things like the hummingbird returning to my feeder and the snails munching on algae in the pond. I noticed the frogs are getting fat and enjoying the warmer weather. Even dragonflies are starting to buzz the water, looking for a good place to lay their eggs.

When I focus on things like that, suddenly the redundant reports I work on and office politics just don't seem so important. Making the conscience decision to not make work my life is daily and a priority. I will never be rich, but then again, I will never be tied to the corporate slavemaster either.

So, join me in enjoying the weekend. Lay back in the grass or on your couch and forget the world. Close your eyes and imagine the softness of those bunnies' noses and don't even think about how they are gonna grow up to eat your pansies. That is for another day.

Hobbes books, tee shirts, mouse pads, screen savers, bumper stickers, books (look what it did for Calvin & Hobbes, Opus my favorite penguin, etc), coffee mugs, and all the other suggestions. Then again, you already are rich! :-)

Bunnies on this side of town are well too. My neighbor thought he had mowed the nest before he knew it was there but no bunny massacre.

Check day but it all goes to mortgage. But I have a job and I have a check that pays for what we need. Things are good even when always broke.

Big book sale at Old Orchard starts tonight. Yay. Highlight of my summer.

Garden planted and all I have to do is wait for the harvest-it's even watered and weeded for me. But my lawn still doesn't look like yours :-(

Takes my mind off the nursing home I work in. Gpa is getting mighty cranky.

Alex is 5 Monday. My little miracle.

Bunny Update:
The bunnies are about to out grow their nest. Wednesday Joanne picked one up for a picture, and it jumped out of her hands and took off running. It took Joanne and dad to catch it. Small but fast! Momma bunny still likes the baby she touched, I think that is an old wives tale about not touching them.
Thursday night, the kids walked up to look at them and one of them took off running. The chase was on, three teenagers chaseing one fast bunny. In the end they caught the darting bunny and put it back on the nest. I dont think they are going to be there very much longer. Momma bunny seems to bring them grass in her mouth for them to eat.
I told my daughters they would be big enough to eat by Thanksgiving, They didn't see any humor in that.
Thats it today from the bunny ranch! Farmer Alan

Hooray hooray Friday is here! My week was long and Friday is very welcomed today!

So glad mom bunny came home ~ I knew she would.

How true that the beauty of nature and all the wonderful 'little things' can make us forget about office reports and politics. Even bunnies eating your pansies... :)

Have a lovely weekend Lin!

That's a beautiful iris. Fridays seem to come around ever so fast. Not that it much matters when you on a seven-day weekend.

Must be a good year for bunnies. I see a lot of them nibbling around the around yard.

Helene--Maybe the old guy is losing steam. Not to be mean or anything....
I think everyone is fighting for the dollar these days and we aren't alone. I wish this darn economy would turn already!! I may have to start thinking about that Hobbes line of stuff! ;)

DG--Hey, you too! Give Brownie and Spike The Hotness Monster a big smoochie for me. I need a post about those two one of these days.

Alan--YOU ROCK! Thanks for the update! We had the entire internet all worried the other day after I posted the photo. It's good to know that they are so self-sufficient already--funny how fast they grow up and leave the nest. And I thought our kids grew fast!! We had a blast hanging with you and the gang on Saturday. Life is good when we are with the CF gang. :) Come to Chicago and visit us! We don't have bunnies, but we do have concrete and traffic that we can watch.

Catherine--It's a matter of focus, I say. When you get down to it, reports and paperwork is just as silly as watching a ladybug dance, so why not enjoy the ladybug?! Enjoy your weekend, pally. Rest easy knowing our bunnies are good. (Did you see Alan's update?)

Chuck--My irises bloomed late this year, but they are lovely as usual. Wish they bloomed like that all summer. We don't have many bunnies here, so I have to live vicariously through the pallies.

Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for always reminding me to look around me and not at the crap that goes on at the office. You really help me shift perspective.

Happy weekend!

I'm so glad to hear that Momma Bunny came back and the bunnies are good! I don't see any humor in Alan's comment about Thanksgiving either. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

I'm enjoying experiencing such a relaxing summer vicariously through your blog. Because I think all my flowers have bloomed and faded, and I have been too busy to enjoy them! :(

I see the weeds in the beds and holler to my plants, "I'll get to you next year! I promise!"

Give the snails my regards. ;)

Grace--Whew! We can relax now that we know the bunnies are good. :) Happy Weekend, pally. Get well soon!

Pricilla--See! You knew all about those bunnies! (Us city folk don't know about such things. )

Tracy--Yeah. :) You too!

Jen--We have to help each other to remember what is real and important. It is too easy to get drawn into the silly stuff. Happy Weekend.

Ann--Whew! I was worried that we scared her away forever. It's that Catholic guilt thing kicking in. :)

Beaded Tail--I'll have to post Alan's photo--he is cute as a button! He's just teasing about Thanksgiving. Well....I hope so anyway! Isn't it great to hear they are okay?? Hooray!

Rebecca--I think your garden is secretly relieved that you are leaving them alone. Sometimes I think I putter too much in the garden. I pull this, move that, clip something else. I wonder what would happen if we sold the place tomorrow. I will keep my garden maintained for your viewing pleasure. :)

DJ--Isn't that funny how we all worried about them?? I know I did!! I love Alan--he's such a tough guy threatening to eat them, but he was worried too. :)

Hi Lin.
I know what you mean by the 'poor' alternative being the better one in many instances. Loved the flower.
Have a great weekend!

Oh, I'm so relieved about the stack-o-bunnies.

This is proving to be a delicious weekend. Yesterday: rainy and cool, the perfect day to curl up with a book. Today: sunny and cool, the perfect day to go for a walk and putter in the yard.

Bunnies don't eat pansies! They eat kale and carrots!

Alright, at least over here they do. Those babies were adorable cuteness!
