The "Awww" Factor

More tales from the farm....

Right near where we were sitting was a small garden with lots of mulch. Nobody thought to look its way until Pat said "Hey, do you want to see some baby bunnies?" and we all crept towards the small plot. That's where we saw this:

Eight little poufs of fur and cuteness all cuddled up in a tiny nest.

Apparently Momma Bunny left the nest for the day A) to not draw attention to her babies and B) to maybe grab a bite to eat far away from the party. Needless to say, we all worried about whether or not she would return.

Crap. I'm still worrying about the Stack-O-Bunnies.

Stop worrying. The odds are extremely high that the bunnies were not deserted.

Mama Rabbit raised her young right under our kitchen window a couple years ago. We could sit at the table and watch her nurse them.

awwwww, I want some baby bunnies. I don't know how you resisted the urge to pet the little darlings.

VanillaSeven said...

Please don't touch them Lin, or their mother will attack them. What a big happy family :)

Stack-o-bunnies. I love it! My mom has a pile of old brush in her back yard where the bunnies live. I never saw them this tiny though. Cute!!

JD at I Do Things said...

Oh, no. I'm worried about those bunnies too. I'm also worried about the baby bunny I saw yesterday while out walking. It was all alone, nibbling on a dandelion in someone's front yard. WHERE WAS ITS MOM? Oh, little buns. Please be OK.

I hope they will be okay!

Vanilla--It was funny how everyone was worried about those babies, but I thought I remembered that the mom doesn't sit on them the whole day--it would be too warm for them. I've got a message in for an update to see if she came back.

Highway--Aren't they cute??? I didn't want to take the chance on scaring mom off permanently, so we kept our distance. I only counted 5 bunnies, but I guess there are 8.

V7--We knew better than to touch them. But I just had to grab my camera! ;)

Jen--I never saw them so tiny either. We don't get many bunnies here because of the cats--which I'm thankful for. You haven't heard anything until you have heard a bunny scream. It is haunting.

JD--I think your bunny will be okay if it was eating on his own. Mom may have been nearby watching. That's what birds do. They look like they have been deserted, but the parents are actually watching from a distance.

Daisy--I'm gonna find out, Daisy, and I'll let everybody know. I'm sure they are fine. :) They sure were cute!

Chuck--You just have to say "Awwww". :)

Stephanie--I think they are too. Everybody was watching out for them, so I think Mom probably came back after dark.

Pricilla--I'm sure if anybody knows, it's you, pally. I'm thinking she knew what she was doing and those babies weren't needing anything the whole time we were there. They were all just sleeping.

Grace--I left a message, Grace. :)

CG--Show that one to the girls--they are gonna want a bunny then!! Hahaha! Sheesh, look at you being the "favorite" at Tribal Blogs. Criminy. :(

Tracy--I know! But you can't help but say "Awwwww"! I'm sure Hobbes and Grace would have liked to peek in on those bunnies too. :( Thank goodness they don't live here or I would never sleep!

Ann--I've got a message in--I'll let you know. ;)

Peewee--And you couldn't even count them for all the soft fur and fuzz that was all moving about in there! Criminy, it couldn't get any cuter.

Violet--It was funny because all the women were worried about her, but the guys were all like "Mom IS coming back. Don't worry." Okay--I want to believe that!

June Zach--I just kept thinking of the white rabbit scene from Monty Python's Holy Grail! I imagined being attacked by a rabbit while we were oohing and ahhing over those babies!

Super awwwwwwww!!! Thanks for the morning kickstart. It's 7:45 AM as I'm typing this.

Like I've said before, it's really good to have you back.

Precious little balls of fluff! I would've wanted to hold them as well.

Hope the mama comes back.

You've done it now, Lin! Now you have half the internet worrying about the baby bunnies! You have to tell us what you hear.

Rebecca Mecomber said...

They are cute but all I can think of when I see rabbits is my half-eaten vegetable garden...

BeadedTail said...

They are so cute! Now I'm worrying about the Stack-O-Bunnies too!

Petula said...

Wow, that's so cool! I'm sure she's back from her feast ready to keep them warm and give them some milk.

Lin said...

Veronica--Thanks, pally! I'm taking some time next week too to do some projects around here before Col's Graduation party. But don't worry, I'll post, but my comments will be M.I.A.--sorry. Glad you liked the bunnies. :)

Cute--Cuter than Your Daily Cute??! Wow. :) Who can resist baby bunnies??

Chocolate--I have a feeling she did, but I'm almost afraid to find out! I'll let everyone know when I know!

Janiss--Isn't that funny??! All the people at the party were worried too! Such cuties. :)

Rebecca--I know, I know. These were cute to me because it wasn't MY yard they were in. I didn't have to worry about their safety OR my garden. :)

Beaded Tail--Oh, they were so adorable all wriggling around in there! I think they will be fine, but I won't rest until I know for sure. I'll let you know!

Petula--Yeah, I think it was natural for her to leave for awhile. But I'm still just a bit worried. I'll keep you posted.

Mwaaa...sweet sweet sweet! I am pretty sure mamma bunny came back. And soon, the little nippers will be nibbling at the expensive perennials in the garden! :)

But they will be forgiven as they are so sweet!! Or at least, I always forgive my wild bunnies that chow down in my garden...

Oh, those cute little fluffballs! I'm worried too now, thanks. We found baby bunnies in our yard when I was little and didn't know any better and handled them. Wonder if they were ok...

Lin said...

Catherine--We don't get many bunnies here, and the ones that come around don't come near our house with the kitties. I know they do damage, but sheesh, they are so cute! I'd be like you and forgive them.

Casey--Your bunnies were fine! They grew up to be big bunnies and they made bunnies of their own. Lots and lots of bunnies. :) Aren't they cute though??

Jennifer MacNeill-Traylor said...

Oh how adorable!! Glad to hear momma is taking care of them.

Lin said...

Jennifer--Yep! She came back and now they are learning to be on their own a bit. Aren't they cute??

Anna said...

So cute! Hope Hobbes leaves them alone. Calle Cat or Cajsa Cat would eat them.
Hugs,
Anna

It's almost sickening how much adorableness can seep out of those little furballs, isn't it? It's like I want to nudge them awake and tell them to stop being so friggin' adorable, but I know they'd just give me the sad eyes. The sad eyes which are insanely adorable.

I'd like to thank you, Lin, and this post for making me give up my "dude badge" on account of how many times I just used the word "adorable."

Lin said...

Anna--They aren't in our yard, thank goodness! The kitties wouldn't be allowed outside for a month or until they were all grown and moved out. And then I would be all worried about them anyway!

Jake--Welcome, new pally! Well, I'm glad you liked the baby bunnies, but it isn't always rainbows and sunshine and unicorns here, so you can still keep the Dude Badge plastered on--just don't start weeping or anything, okay? :)
