G'ma Phyl pops over the other day and brings Em a ukulele to jam on. Yeah.....like the flute, the piccolo, and the guitar isn't annoying enough. Add in Col's keyboard and trumpet and we've got ourselves our own Chuck E. Cheese Band.
Sigh. This is my life. And it isn't nearly as cute as this:
Em may not play as well, but she does know the words. So she's got that going for her.

Just mentioning the Chuck E Cheese band gives me a headache.
No joke about that ukelele. My daugher is into some dude with an emo haircut named Chrisopher Drew Ingle. Homeboy plays the ukelele for real. What's next? An all glockenspiel boy band?
When done well there is nothing wrong with a uke - and that little kid was annoying as all get out...I'm sure Em will master the thing in no time at all and you can sing Hawaiian songs! Go Don Ho!
Rock on little Dude,rock on!
Highway--"We say 'Happy', you say 'Birthday'..." UGH. Stop the madness!! I'm with you on hating on Chuck E.!
DG--It's funny, but they are EVERYWHERE these days!
Grace--WHAT?! You didn't find that sweet face adorable?? Oh, Grace. Em is already cranking out 3 songs--none of them good, of course.
Melodie--I love how he can play the song but can't figure out the words for the life of him. I thought it was hilarious--Grace didn't.
Now you've made us laugh!
That kid will probably break the hearts of many a young gal. He is really cute.
While your video was cute, I think a ukulele would cause me to try to identify a music room (someplace in the house that is far away from where I am). There is something about that sound that sets my teeth on edge.
That's too fun.
Uke always shows up in the crosswords.
Happy prom week- it's ours here too.
Ukulele rules. Please let Hobbes play that next time will you? :)
I hear the word ukulele and I hear Tiny Bubbles in my head...
oh, thanks for that.
A girlfriend of mine was just expounding on the virtues of her sons abilities with the Uke. He's a part of a Elementary school band that travels all over to do recitals. I gotta admit - they don't sound that bad (when played well).
My son would kill for a ukulele, or a banjo, or a guitar, or anything he could play along with Imagination Movers. He has a keyboard, but you can't jump around and look cool carrying a keyboard.
As I have a uke and can actually play three songs on it, I'm delighted to hear it's making a comeback!
--and as I was doing housework today, I thought of Arthur Godfrey and his oo-koo-ley-ley, as he insisted it should be pronounced. Remember Arthur Godfrey? (Arthur who?) Of course not. You are much too young.
hey. what's wrong with a flute and piccolo? lol
The facial expressions in the video alone are priceless. Even if Emm isn't as cute as the little guy in the video I bet she's still mighty entertaining.
I am so glad my kids are past the Chuck E Cheese stage. My girlfriend's kids are pretty much past it too. I can't stand that place. It gives me a headache just thinking about it.
Here we only have my son's keyboard to endure, and he doesn't know how to play, so it can be quite painful. But then again, we do have Drummer Boy/Aka Metallica-head to deal with, so I think I may trump you on the instruments.
Vanilla--Isn't he funny?! I like how he fakes the words.
Chuck--I typically hate obnoxious kids, but he is still in that innocent/cute category.
Anne--I don't care what instrument you have, we all need an instrument room--down the BLOCK!
Harriet--I'll be looking for photos!! What a great time of year. :) Well, unless you like having money.
Vanilla7--I think you would need thumbs to play the ukulele. :)
Pricilla--Yeah, me too. And what is that Hawaiian guy that made "Somewhere over the Rainbow" so popular??
LJ--Isn't it funny how you hear more and more about them lately? I think their popularity peaks and wanes with time. We are in a peak right now.
DJ--None of these things are cheap, I tell you, but it is really good for them to play an instrument. And I think once you master one, you play just about anything.
Patricia--Look at you being with the "in" crowd! I'm impressed.
Vanilla--I think I remember him from old clips on TV. He is a few years before my time. ;)
Stacie--Nothing unless you want to watch TV or read or something while a certain someone is practicing. ;)
Ann--I like him faking the words. AND his itchy nose. And no, Em is nowhere as cute as that kid.
Lola--Oh yeah, you win with Drummer Boy. Oh, did you know that you can plug in headphones on those keyboards for YOUR listening pleasure? Ah, silence.
I had no idea these were "in" now. Sounds like something a kid would be embarrassed to play, no? Just the name of is even dorky...
BUT, if she likes it, we love it! :)
Too cute!! Thanks for sharing this, Lin!
Have a wonderful Wednesday!
My favorite band used to use a ukulele in their music sometimes. It sounds good in the right songs.
Cute--You never know what these kids are going to embrace these days. I'm learning to just go with the flow. Or at least be quiet about it (within reason).
Veronica--Do your boys play anything? While it is fun to have them play an instrument, it is....uh....loud sometimes.
Ratty--I was going to post a really good ukulele song, but maybe I'll save it for the weekend. I know what you are saying.
Rodney tried learning the guitar but gave up after a year. Josh is tone-deaf like his dad.
Graham has a Ukulele but he thinks it's a guitar. It's cute and we have awesome daily jam sessions. Maybe he could join your kids' band? Elliot plays harmonica.
