Still crazy after all these years

There aren't many men in the world that would willingly go with you on vacation where you used to go as a kid, with all the people you used to know a long time ago..........and like it.

Joe puts up with a lot (or so folks say--a LOT), but then again, so do I. He's quiet, I'm loud. He's passive aggressive, I'm....uh....aggressive. He's straight, I'm wacky. He makes Lemon Drop Martinis, I drink 'em. He's Catholic school, I'm public. I tan, he burns. I dance, he has no rhythm.

I know, we are pretty much opposites, but it works. And it has for 22 years. No use ditching him now, eh?

Happy Anniversary, Joe. I love you and I'm lucky to have you.

Awwwww happy anniversary!!!!

My best buddy and I are like that. Last year we were discussing-ahem- something out back and my neighbor smiled and said "do you two need a referree?" Um, yep, usually. If I mention something he searches Chicago until he finds it. He cared for me all winter when I was sick. He cooks for me. He made me a garden last year. He gives me the remote. He says "whatever you want."
Please don't make me marry him!!!!

Happy Anniversay-you two make a beautiful couple.

Respect the differences, accommodate the differences, viva la differance!

You have it together.

Helene--I say whatever works for you is great. :) People don't understand Joe and I a lot of times, because it looks one way when it is really another. Whatever, I say. It works, leave us alone.

Vanilla--And embrace the differences. :) Thanks, pally.

Catherine--It's gonna be one of those anniversaries where we just go out for dinner because the budget has been blown elsewhere. Oh well, that's how we started out. Thanks, pally.

Jodi, Jennifer, Sherrie, Melodie--Thanks, pallys! It's amazing how fast it goes.

JD--Nobody gets us, but we don't care. :) Somehow in all of the wackiness, we are happy. Thanks, pally! Happy Anniversary to you too!

Tracy--That was the first thing that came to my mind--this video! I'm scarred for life by the Flintstones!

Chuck--Just going out for dinner. It's one of those years when that is all the budget allows. Thank goodness love is cheap!

Hot Rocks--I think that song is stuck in my head all day now! Ugh.

Anne--Yeah, as happy as one can be I guess. Well, maybe if he had a LOT more money...... :) Hee! Hee! Thanks, pally.

Natalee--Thanks, pally. :)

Anna--Thanks, pally. There is still good in this world, although some days it is harder to find than others. I have been blessed on many levels.

Grace--Thanks, pally! Joe is a good guy and a great catch. (I hope he says the same about me!) ;)

Happy anniversary to a beautiful couple! Hope you enjoy your celebration.

I love the Flinstones and this is one of my favorite episodes.

LJ--Why does that song still stick in our heads after all these years??? I liked the part about "standing him"--hee! hee!

Stacie--THANKS! :)

DG--I've been waiting to use that clip! And here I thought I was the only one who remembered it. :P

Jude--Well, we get along for the most part. It's nice to not have drama in that department.

Ann--It's funny because we are together more now that the kids are grown. It's nice to know we still make each other laugh.

Chocolate--I think the opposite theory works for the most part. Good to know that it isn't just us who works that way. :)

Diana--WHAT??! How come?? I know they quit the parade portion, but that is crazy! I was looking forward to hanging out with you again. :( Bummer.

Beaded Tail--Thanks, pally.

JuneZach--Thanks, pally. Yeah, if there are opposites, we are IT! :)

Sharky--He'll square dance with me too, but I didn't add that part. :) Shhhhh....don't tell him I told you that part.

Highway--Joe makes a mean Lemon Drop! After two you forget you have legs. Maybe that is his intention????

Petula--Thanks, pally! Was it the Flintstones that got ya? :)

Happy anniversary to you both. My spouse and I are opposites too, but a realtor who showed a house to us separately said we looked in the same places and made the same comments. (we bought that house)

Happy Anniversary Lin! Here's to many, many more years!

Happy anniversary! I think when marriages don't last, it's because people make too much of a big deal out of their differences and they're not willing to do the give-and-take necessary for a longterm relationship. Brian and I are very different; although we're not married, we've been together for over 15 years (forever for two creative types in L.A.!) and I think it's because we don't make a big deal out of stupid stuff.

FishHawk said...

Well, you do look awfully hot when you got your hip-waders on, which might explain why he has stuck around for as long as he has. I hope you-all had a great anniversary!

Happy Anniversary!

Happy 22nd anniversary, Lin & Joe! Here's to many, many more... cheers! :D

Lin said...

Marilynne--LOL! Yep, when that rare occasion occurs that you agree, you HAVE to go along with it! We do the same thing. Good to know we aren't the only ones like that. :)

Storm--Thanks, pally!

Janiss--I agree. I think it's important to realize that when the other person is driving you nuts that you aren't a dreamboat to live with either. Ours is a total give and take, even though it appears that Joe does a lot of giving. Quite the opposite. He is wacky too, but he just does it quietly.

Fish--I'm gonna have to get those out one of these days. Although the pond is pretty full of creatures and I might squish somebody. Forget trying on the old wedding dress --I'll put on the waders!! LOL!

Vanilla7--Thanks, pally! I hope he sticks it out too--where else would I get all these wacky stories??

Veronica--Thanks, pally. :) Gees, the years fly!

Pricilla--Did you?? What was going on?? We had a quiet anniversary--maybe we should have come by your place. :)

Nessa--Awww, thanks, pally! Hard to believe it has been that many years.

Rebecca said...

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! I'm late in visiting and in my congratulations.... but hey, 22 years--- what's another few days?!

Funny, your descript of your Man reminds me of my own Hubs (quiet, burns, doesn't dance, etc). :) You have quite a guy, you blessed girl, you!

Hope you had a wonderful day. And many more!

Casey said...

Happy belated, sorry I missed it! It sounds like you guys are the perfect match. Joe is lucky to have a wacky chick like you and vice versa.

Lin said...

Rebecca--Thanks, pally! It was a good day--quiet, uneventful, but that is good these days. :)

Casey--As long as he keeps laughing at my antics, we are okay. :)
