The big frog is slowly getting acclimated, but he was thinking we couldn't see him in the patch of clover this one day. It was funny to see him scooting his butt back thinking we couldn't see him. It worked though, Hobbes couldn't see him and walked right past.

Find the Frog
It takes awhile for the frogs to become comfortable around us enough to not dive in the water the minute we appear. As silly as it seems, I always talk to the frogs when I'm out there, hoping that they will get used to us being outside and on the patio. It's kind of fun for visitors to actually see that we really do have frogs in the pond. Kids get the biggest kick out of the frogs for some reason.

Another day, he just lowered himself (herself?) into the water, thinking I couldn't see him if he couldn't see me. You'll have to enlarge the photo to appreciate his submerged head with his big bottom sticking out. Apparently sitting in the plant was just too nice and he didn't want to leave.
Sigh. Even the frogs are wacky at my house.

The frogs are elusive in my backyard but A lot of frog love is going on because we have hundreds of tadpoles. Also the koi are suspiciously not eating... I don't want to know.
Awwww...froggies...you gotta love them!! :)
I see him, I see him! He looks so cute hidden amongst the clovers.
Our Weenie Dog,that's her name, has a love of frogs! Which is bizarre in itself because she tries to kill everything! She will catch them in her mouth and bring them inside and release them! She never hurts them!
I think it would be fun to have your pond in my yard! So much to watch ~ frogs ~ free entertainment! :)

A very loud bullfrog has taken up residence in my next door neighbors yard. They also have a small pond. I listened to him for quite a while last night!
There are peepers in the tiny pond, but that's a long way from the house. It nice to have those pallys for entertainment.
The pics are great - especially if you biggify them - so clear. I'm not sure frogs actually have personalities - reptiles are funny that way...anyone have a cute crocodile story?
Great photos!
I want a pond so Duke and I can watch the frogs and the fishes.
He is so cute! I love frogs and toads. Snakes not so much. What a beautiful yard you have.
I want frogs! Your pond sounds like so much fun and always something new to see. I love how you talk to the frogs - you are just so special to all creatures!
Highway--It's called "Rule of the Jungle"--only the strong survive. Be thankful--you'd be overcome with frogs.
A.Marie--I do! Can you tell?
Daisy--Hobbes likes looking for them and poking them to make them jump in the water. I tell him "NO!", but he doesn't listen. I think he likes the frogs too. :)
Melodie--That is soooo funny! I wonder why she likes them in particular?? And why the need to bring them in?? Great. Thanks, Weenie Dog.
Catherine--I love to just sit out there and see what is going on. My favorite is to go out at night with a flashlight--there is TONS going on then. Of course, the neighbors think I'm the weirdo then.
Buggys--Aw, I miss having a male to call like that. I haven't had a male in years. I'm hoping the new bunch brings me a crooner. :) Enjoy, pally.
Chuck--I love the sound of peepers. It reminds me that the earth is good. We don't have peepers here. :(
Grace--I think every creature has a personality--even crocs. Gees, I've even had hamsters that cracked me up! I'll have to tell you a hamster story some day.
Lola--Could you see the guy under water with his eyes closed?? I know that one was hard to spot, but it was funny. Goofy frog.
Ann--Hobbes walks around the perimeter poking at things, thinking it is the frogs. He loves to poke them and make them jump in. Cat fun--go figure.
Jen--No snakes around here! I like the pond because there is so much life to watch. Now the hummingbird comes around to drink at the feeder and the tadpoles are sunning themselves. Even dragonflies come to lay their eggs. It's fun to see what is going on in there.
I think the frog is in the pond..... somewhere.... I that their eyes or just a bubble?
Hey Lin! I left an award for you over at my blog. If you have had this one before or don't have time to do it (having the lovely weather and all) not to worry! I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your blog!
Have a lovely evening friend!

Vanilla7--He has his butt snuggled into the plant (you can see his butt and back sticking out of the water) and his face is under water with his eyes closed. He is right above the reed that is horizontal in the photo. I know it is hard to see him, but he's there. I think he'd be happy to know you can't see him!
Catherine--Oh, thanks, pally!!! I'm going over there now to claim it. :)
I don't see anything wrong with talking to the frog. I talk to lots of creatures. But of course I'm usually saying, "You look like you would make a tasty meal - come a little closer so I can find out for sure." You are probably not saying that.
Sparkle--Nope, I'm NOT saying that! Ick. Typically I talk so that they know not to be afraid, which is probably having the opposite effect, but I get points for trying. Every morning, I go out to to feed the fish and I say "Good morning, fish!" to which they all scramble for the best eating spot. I guess it is working, but it is the opposite of you. :)
