Yeah, lamb cake!

I like this time of year with it's message of re-birth and the promise of opportunity. Well, that and lamb cake.

We are laying low this Easter, staying home to just breathe today. With the craziness of our weekday lives, we decided to just hang out with the four of us, leaving the running for another day. It's a sort of re-grouping, resting before the madness winds up again. It's a good thing to do every once in awhile.

So, here's wishing you a very Happy Easter. May you find time to relax a bit, breathe deep, think about the flowers of your life, and perhaps snag the lamb cake ears. I don't know a family that doesn't fight over those.

(Lamb cake--for those who are confused)

Happy Easter Lin. Will be back to commenting again as soon as I'm done with my paid surveys. Must be a sign of the economy picking up 'cos my inbox is suddenly overflowing with survey invites!!!

It's weird, but I don't think we've ever had Lamb cake. Our tradition has always been Pineapple Upside Down Cake. My Grandmother used to make 1 for every family to take home a couple to serve on Easter.

Am I the only one who doesn't know what this lamb cake is? Is it a cake in the shape of a lamb (I hope)? Please tell me there is no actual lamb involved...

Happy Easter!

What is lamb cake?

DG--WHAT??! He doesn't like people food--thank goodness! Now if we put kitty treats on that lamb cake.....

Vanilla--And I am just as blessed to have you as a blog friend, Vanilla. :) I hope you are enjoying your Easter in the warm sunshine.

PJ--Hey, pally! Happy Easter to you and yours. I hope to see baby pictures today.

Melodie--Happy Easter, pally! I hope you enjoy your day in the sunshine with those new baby goaties. :)

A.Marie--I like lamb-shaped butter too, just in case you were wondering. Why don't we have animal shaped foods any other time of the year??

Ann--Okay, that is a deal! I still think I'm getting the good end of that agreement. :)

Jude--I'm going to the doctor on Friday. I've got to bite the bullet and deal with this. Ugh. In the meantime, I'll be doing a lot of laying down. I hope they understand at work. ;)

Veronica--I have been crazy busy too and not commenting as much either. Well, I guess it is good to be busy, right?

Lola--Oh, that sounds yummy! I'm not sure lamb cake is as delicious as it is fun to fight over its head. ;0

Cute--Criminy, I've got to post a photo of lamb cake???! It is cake made in a lamb mold. Then there is tons of frosting and everyone yells that they want to eat his head. Or maybe that is just our family that does that. Oh, there is lamb butter too--just in case you were wondering.

Grace--See above. Really??! You never had lamb cake?? Gees, Grace, you haven't lived until you've had lamb cake or lamb butter.

Cute and Grace--I posted a lamb cake photo for you.

OMG! You just brought back so many memories you cannot imagine.
I haven't seen one of them in years yet I knew EXACTLY what you were talking about when I read your title!
My grandmother always used to buy me one.
awwwwww, thanks.

Happy Easter.

The cake lamb surely looks great. But I would be thinking twice to eat it. LOL

I miss our lamb cake--my mom used to make one every Easter!

Sharkbytes said...

Oh! I've seen the pans, but never a cake that was actually made in one. Thanks for a new experience! Happy Easter.

Pricilla--LOL! Well, I'm glad YOU knew what a lamb cake was!! I was beginning to think we are the only lamb cake eaters! :)

Beaded Tail--Yep--they went out in the yard with us on a lovely warm day. :) That is their favorite treat of all.

June--Really??! They are just cake and frosting. Oh, and the ears are the BEST! LOL!

Violet--That's the best kind of holiday, don't you think?? We all needed the break.

Karen--Aw, you'll have to learn how to make them, Karen! Then you can carry on the tradition.

Sharky--Gees, I'm introducing you pallies to all kinds of good stuff. Here I am thinking everyone eats lamb cake!

Actually one of the least favorite food memories of my childhood was an actual lambs head, cooked of course, on the table...so your "lamb cake" had me a bit confused...

Grace said...

Or manbe it was the whole lamb - just can't get past the picture of the head in my head...(and if I were from a Navy background that would sound odder yet.)

Lin said...

Split Rock--Thanks, pally! Happy Easter to you too. :)

Grace--Oh. Your memory of lamb cake isn't very good, I'm afraid. Mine is a much happier, tastier lamb cake. I'll share mine with you, but I'll gladly take the head if you don't want it.

That is one unique cake, first time I've ever seen a Lamb cake! :)

Happy Easter to you and your family!

oh yah! we used to always have bunny cake and if I didn't get to have an ear my life was ruined. I am pretty sure it's why I ever needed to go to therapy.

Happy Easter Lin! :)

Nessa--Nope. It just tastes like pound cake with frosting or something. It's just shaped like a lamb. Isn't it funny??

peewee--Joe said that he saw a bunny cake at the store the other day and we were teasing him that it was LAMB cake! Maybe he really did see a bunny cake! Ooops. And yes, the ears are always best. :)

Sharky--I was???! Wow. Maybe because I just like your blog. :) I do, Sharky, it makes me smile.

Junezach--Oh, pally, thanks! I like reading and commenting over by your place too--and not just for the points.

Stephanie--I'm just glad you knew what lamb cake was!! I was beginning to think we were the only ones who ate that!

Vanilla7--Thanks, pally! To you too! Happy lamb cake!
