Texture Success!

Dear Ann,

Thank you for the push and the inspiration to actually play around with my PSE yesterday! Yes, I was cursing your name while I tried to figure out how to create new layers and merge them, but in the end, I thank you. I have a long way to go, but that 2 inch book of directions doesn't intimidate me so much today thanks to you.

Learning something new is a good thing and I'm feeling kinda smug (and a little bald) after tearing my hair out on trying to figure out the darned thing. Please do not give me any more great ideas.

Thank you,

Lin

Cool pics! If by PSE you mean Photo Shop, I have a case of the scareds when it comes to that!

DG--Photoshop Elements and yes, it scares me too. I'm slowly getting brave when I see somebody else do something cool. But it takes me FOREVER to figure it out on my own! I'll help you if you want to try something I know how to do--just ask. :) (And yes, I swatted my guidebook HARD once or twice yesterday--I will admit)

Look at you working with layers and filters. Awesome job. However it's destined to be an awesome photo if Hobbes is in it.

Oh. Technology intimidates you, too. Not. You persevere! Well done.

Don't forget to sweep up the hair.

You go on with your artistic self!

All I can say is: IT'S ABOUT TIME! Lol! Good job, I knew you could do it!!

Nicely done Lin. Jo does excellent work in that area. I think I know how she selectively applies textures to some areas and not others. I just need to find a couple of hours to try it out.

Very cool. I just bought PSE on-line. I'm excited to try my hand at textures too. I too was very insprired by Ann's post and hope to someday be able to work the magic she does with pictures.

What a great job! I love how your texturing came out. I especially love the photo of Hobbes (because I love photos of Hobbes).

Good for you - I don't understand it all but then I haven't a creative bone in my body...

that's awesome

I love those textured designs. I have a very old copy of Photoshop but now I must look into Photoshop Elements if it is not too prohibitively expensive.

That is so cool! I wouldn't have the slightest clue how to enhance a photo. I can barely take them!

I love the photos! I am not cool enough to use PSE. ;)

CG--Notice that I don't have to texture Hobbes--he's got enough of his own! :)

Vanilla--I was very intimidated, but thought of not knowing how to do it bugged me more. I'm hard-headed like that. I only have another 1 1/2 inches more of that book to master!

Tracy--I wanna be like you when I grow up, Tracy. ;)

Jo--Gees, now if I can only figure out the rest of it. Sigh.

Chuck--I had yesterday off from work and I spent the day playing with it. Yes, it takes a LOT of time--especially when you are figuring it out on your own. :(

Lenox--There are some sites online that helped me. Let me know if you need help figuring it out and I'll send you the links. The book didn't tell me how to drag the texture right on top of the photo and pull the corners to cover it. Then you adjust the opacity. Took me hours to figure that out!

Anne--I was experimenting with taking the texture off some objects. Hobbes has enough texture!

Grace--Oh, you do so--you just don't brag about it. :)

Stacie--I'm gonna do your wedding invitations. ;)

Highway--Elements is under $100 so that was the only program for me. I like it, but I would like to take a class rather than spending hours trying to figure out the book. It is fun once you master it.

Violet--I didn't either but I saw everyone else doing it. It is really easy once you figure it out. It's the figuring it out on my own that is hard. There are some online sites that you can do simple adjustments and enhancements to your photos for free.

Storm--"Cool" is NOT a term for me, believe me! I got PSE last Mother's Day, so I figured I'd better start learning how to use it better. I have a strong will sometimes. ;)

Oh please tell me you called me a 4 letter word....lol I am so proud of you. You did great. Believe it or not when I first got the program I was so upset that I spent the money on it and couldn't for the life of me figure it out. Once it clicked though there was no stopping me. Your pictures look FAB U LOUS

Ann--That is exactly how I felt! I was so mad that I couldn't figure it out and don't have the time to just sit there to master it. I guess I just have to take a step at a time! But I greatly appreciate your push and your directions--it was GREAT!

You did a great job Lin! I always say I'm going to learn how to do all that after seeing Ann's cool creations but then am terrified to try. One of these days I'm going to go for it!

I also love the name Stripey Cat Designs!

Awesome job, Lin!! I have a bootleg copy of PSE but never got round to using it.

Anyway, my photos always turn out worse when I edit them.

Congrats for overcoming your fear and baldness Lin :)
You can ask me too if you have any question regarding that software. I am using that for a living :)
Truly a Hobbes success!

Lin said...

Beaded Tail--I find you have to set aside some time to play with it--a commodity that is in very short supply these days. I'm just glad I figured it out because it was driving me mad!

Veronica--Really?? I like playing around and just knowing that I can do it is enough for me. :)

Vanilla7--Thanks, pally! Can you come spend a week here teaching me all the ins and outs of the program??? I'll make lunch. :)

Lin- Forget me not always wins for me!

Oh, it looks great! Every time I get a wild hair up my butt and decide to mess around with editing photos, I lose a week of my life and end up angry. I'll leave it to the professionals like you...

Nancy said...

Wow, it looks really cool though! Glad you took the time to figure it out:)

Petula said...

That's way cool. ... Uh, maybe you should invest in some wigs. LOL

Lin said...

Casey--Not a professional by any means--just one very strong-willed gal!

Nancy--I'd like to do more, but there isn't the time. Never enough time!

Petula--Hee! Hee! Or I'll just wear my bald patches proudly!
