Okay, so it was still a bit chilly, we bundled up and set off for The Cell yesterday. The only good part of the cool temps is that your beer never gets warm and you don't have to spend a fortune on a bunch of those $7 bad boys.
It was good to be back there again, hanging out with the family and the crowd. I love the slow pace and the whole thought of just of passing a few hours relaxing watching a game. I dig the crunching of peanut shells under my feet and the smell of stale beer. I enjoy laughing with Col about rope-flavored-rope and spending too much on White Sox-wear. I like watching the old guys keeping score and the little kids eating cotton candy. There is a reason this game is as old as the hills--you can't beat it on a weekend afternoon in the warm sunshine.
It's official for me now--spring is here.

You make it sound incredible, Lin. I could hear it and see it! Awesome.
So glad to hear that spring has officially sprung for you.I agree, the sights and the smells of the ballpark are delightful.
Great! Go, 'sox. So long as you're not playing anyone from the NL. ;)
Sounds like a great time!
Ahhhhhhhhhhh Wrigley :-)
Go Cubs Go!
Sounds like a fun family time and beats the heck out of yard work. Which is what I did all weekend. Except I did manage to work in a beer.
You are just so grass-roots Lin - gives this old curmudgeon a slightly warm feeling. But seriously I remember when I enjoyed baseball...
I'm with Helene...Go Cubbies!
(sorry)
I agree, yesterday was great for a ballgame.
I am not a big baseball fan, but it sounds like you had fun!
I think you love baseball more than I do, but if the Yankees are involved, I'm on it! (I know, you can hate me now)
I know just the feeling. We went to our first softball game of the season (my niece plays). A double header in the beautiful sunshine. Had our first ballfield hotdogs and lemonade. Our first trip to the port-a-pots (woo hoo). A great weekend.
I am glad you enjoyed your baseball. I went to more Phillies games than I can count and except for the hotdogs was bored to death.
So sorry....
I like baseball but I always found that watching a good old little league game was more entertaining. As for the beer, you can keep it. Can't stand the taste or the smell.
Home opener for my Cards today. I sported the fan wear to work today :-)
It's so good to know there's another baseball fan out there. I always count baseball as the first true sign of spring. I think it's the only thing I like as much as nature.
Violet--Kinda makes you wanna sing take me out to the ballgame....
DG--Oh, it was like coming home. It takes so little to make me happy.
Vanilla--We can play them, right? Just not beat them???;)
Melodie--It was nice to just sit for a bit and talk about nothing but baseball. It was a great escape.
Helene--Happy Opening Day, Helene!
Highway--Well, at least the weather was nice and you were outdoors, right? AND you got a beer!! Hooray!
Grace--Oh, the little ember is glowing deep in her heart. :) I'd hug you if you were here, Grace.
Lola--Not a hater, pally. Glad you had a good opening day!!
Hot Rocks--It was nice just to sit in the nice weather and relax for a few hours and talk about nothing but baseball. THAT is what makes baseball good--no worries outside the score.
Sharky--I'm not a hater, pally. We can all love our own teams--I get that. But I will have to cheer for my guys when we play ya.
Buggys--Ooooh, that sounds fabulous! I used to love Little League games too. It's just nice to chill in the seats, relaxing and visiting the game away. The porta-potties I can do without, but the rest of it is all good.
Pricilla--Gasp! You did not just say that! Well, I get it--I'm like that with football. It was nice to just relax for few hours at The Cell and the food is great there too.
Ann--You are right--Little League was far more exciting and more interesting, but I hated the behavior of the parents--dad's in particular. It got wicked sometimes. But I swear the big league games would be more exciting if they played by Little League rules. Oh--they sell vodka lemonades and margaritas at The Cell too if you don't like beer. Or the soft drinks if you don't want a cocktail. It's all good.
Jodi--Happy Opening Day! I hope they won. :)
Ratty--I love hangin' out at the ballpark or even watching a game on TV in the summer. It's great to escape life for a few hours and just worry about who's hitting....or not. It makes life so much simpler, doesn't it??
I wish we had a local team. I would get season tickets pronto!
I love cotton candy...
Merry--When Joe and I talk of relocating in our retiring years, one of the requirements is a major league baseball team nearby. I just love going to a game and the minors don't cut it for me.
Vanilla7--pink or purple??? :)
