There's a flower in my crack!

In the rocks by the pond. What were you thinking???

I love violas and their ability to bloom in the coolest of weather. They are the first ones up in the spring and the last ones giving up the ghost in late fall. Gotta love that. Okay, so they droop a bit in the heat of summer--so do I. I'm with them on not liking it too hot.

We're off to a concert this evening and dinner out with friends. Ted, the Wonder Kid, is playing with the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra and we're going to cheer him on. Nothing like a wicked piccolo solo to pack the car with G'ma Phyl, Ted's mom, Joe, me, the kids, and their pally, Linnea.

So, while we are chilling to some great tunes and snarfing down Mexican food, I hope you find some time for relaxation for yourself. Remember to breathe deep, my friends. Go see if there is a flower in your crack too. Those violas may surprise you.

I was laughing hysterically at your title. You sure do know how to write em. I think I'll spend the weekend checking all my cracks...lol

Hahahaha...crack flowers!!!!!

Which begs the question; If Jimmy cracks corn and nobody cares, Why did they write a song about it?

Okay. The crocii are in blossom and the hyacinth will be out soon. But they're in the bed. Flower bed that is . . .

You have to tend your crack carefully then. Don't let the flower die :)

natalee--Happy Weekend, pally!

Ann--I actually said this to a girl at the garden store once, and then I realized what I said. See? My mouth gets me in trouble.

Melodie--Have you checked your crack today?? :)

Chuck--I LOVE that song! It is best sung at the top of your lungs, just for effect. But note: don't sing this at work because I have found that bosses frown upon it--even if you are joking.

Vanilla7--I'd like to see you take a picture of THAT one! hee!hee!

Oh, enjoy the concert.
The only thing I have blooming right now are buttercups.
The goats don't eat them 'cause they are poisonous to them.
So at least I have some color around.

I just visited some blogs I saw pretty flowers in their posts and when I came to here check on you, I got a different flower! (LOL) Very beautiful! So I guess Spring spells flowers. :D

Have a relaxing weekend!

P.S.
By the way, congratulations to Ted for playing in the orchestra. I love concerts! ;)

Love the title! Things are so wet here there's moss in our cracks!

Hope you have a great evening!

I'm not a fan of anything in my crack but if there HAD to be something.. I guess a flower would be ok.

Have fun at the concert, Lin. Miss you!

I've been waiting for flowers and green things, but there's none around here yet, in cracks or any other place. They're coming soon though.

When a crack appears ~ fill it with flowers...yup...sounds about right!

Enjoy your weekend, I know you will. I think the happiest reason to plant pansies is to see those perky little blooms come early spring.

"Duck & Wheel with String" has been included in this weeks A Sunday Drive. I hope this helps to attract even more new visitors here.

Loved your post :-) Hope you had a great time at the concert. And, flowers, even if they are in a crack, are just the best!!!

Well, I checked my crack, and there are no flowers there, but my daffodils ARE blooming behind my house. And just to supplement, I bought myself some yellow tulips.

Almost spring!

giggle, Hi Lin, stop by my blog to pick up your easter basket. Hugs!

Pricilla--Oh, I'll bet the buttercups are lovely. I don't have any bulbs planted anywhere--I wish I did now. I have to settle for what god has planted for me.

Sharky--It's been dry, eh? We've gotten a lot of rain, so things are turning green here. I'll send it your direction. Be sure to wash your car--that will guarantee it!

Tracy--I hope you envision that crack in my sidewalk and not my body!! ;)

Grace--I live in the city and I've got flowers, how come you don't??? I love violas, they have a magical way of self-seeding and coming up in the strangest of places. Put a pot out and watch them, Grace. They come up in cracks everywhere.

DG--I had TWO margaritas for you! They were so strong I couldn't feel my legs after 1/2 of one! :) Yeahhh, they were goooood!

JuneZach--See? Flowers are coming up in cracks all over the place! ;)
The concert was incredible. This orchestra is made up of high school kids and they are amazing. Unbelievable that they are so young when you hear them. It was quite a treat.

Beaded Tail--I'm not sure I would like moss in my crack. But I'll take greenery at any cost these days. :)

Casey--I hope all is better at your place, Casey. I've been thinking of you all week. I wish you could have been with us last night--the margaritas were the size of Manhattan! (I had one for you) :)

Ratty--We've had some warm sunshine and rain lately which guarantees a few wild flowers popping up here. I like the ones that self-seed and surprise you here and there.

Catherine--I like when the earth surprises us by planting flowers just anywhere for us to enjoy. It's one of life's simple pleasures.

Buggys--I find the violas just seed themselves all over the yard and surprise me all year long. I love that. :)

Fish--Thanks, pally! I need all the help I can get. :)

Mtn Woman--Hey, I got my package the other day! Thank you!! I'm going to post a photo this week. What a treat! Add that to a great concert and it was a GREAT weekend.

JD--Don't you just love tulips?? I do. Of course, I never think to plant them, so I have to go spend $$$ on them at the store. Ugh. But they are worth it.

Katherine--WHAT??! The Easter Bunny came early??? I'm hopping over there now...

I have a pot of yellow violas by my back doorstep. That's where I empty the dog's old water every day. It seems to be a compatible task.

Thanks for visiting.

Crack is whack. Unless there is a flower in it. Then crack is cool.

Marilyn--That's what I love about violas--they are low maintenance. Even old dog water is good for them! :) We should take a lesson from the violas in the world.

Cute--heh! heh! I like that!
