I Love Hobbes Thursday

As tired as I am of snow, I just love this photo. I like the light and shadow of my 47 pounds of Orange Stripeness playing in the snow.

We'll be outside today, but instead of jumping in the snow, we'll be enjoying warm sunshine and balmy 40 degree temps. Amazing how low our standards of warmth are when you are just pulling out of winter and subzero thermometer readings.

And yes, we'll be checking for frogs in the pond.

Yes I agree after sub zero...anything above that is shorts and BBQ weather! We have had a very mild Feb and March so far and had some wonderfully warm days lately...feels like Spring is in the air!

I'm looking forward to those warm summer afternoons on the tractor mowing in the 80 deg. warmth. Hobbes is like animated sunshine.

I do have a bunch of household stuff to do inside today, but I think I'm going to get my errands done while the sun is shining. Yesterday I crawled out of my crypt and was out all afternoon.

Oh yes, I forgot...Yay Hobbes! I think Irish may be jealous, but she just found a Targhay bag that is currently holding her interest.

Nicely done, Lin. You go, Hobbes!

This is a wonderful picture! My cats would NEVER play in the snow. They always looked dejected and angry when we'd put them out in it. I didn't try it with Colby. His hair's too long and i didn't relish the idea of trying to comb that wet mess out!!!

Helene--Nah, just the backyard with the resident "wildlife". He's such a goof.

Violet--:) I think so.

Catherine--Oh Mr. Springtime is out sunning himself on the patio while I type. Who needs a grounhog when you've got Hobbes?

Jodi--It's coming, Jodi. Warm sunshine and outside recess!

Rocks--It is supposed to be "warm" here for the next few days, but I expect it will get cold (and snow) again before May.

Chuck--I just want to open the windows and let in some fresh air! Good sign--the snow is melting today. :)

Lola--Bags are good fun for the kitties--just ask Grace. Go outside today--it's beautiful!!

Vanilla--Hobbes is a good model for me--Its easy to take good shots of him. It must be the stripes. :)

Jen--I can say that Hobbes went out all winter. He didn't stay out long, but he needed his fresh air and exercise. I don't know why he likes snow, but he does and he willingly trudges through the deepest parts of the yard to "stalk" imaginary prey.

And I re-enter the world of my favorite blogs by first checking in to see how Hobbes is doing. I am glad to see nothing has changed in my absence :)

Still can't get over how much that cat loves snow LOL We will be up in the low 50's by Monday - Hooray!

He looks like a coyote hunting in that photo.

I have my sheets on the line today and the door open.

It's crazy!

I love it too. There is nothing I love more than the blue that light makes on snow. Ive tried to make that color and I can never do it, its always too purple...or too blue. That picture is what I love about snow - and at this point the only thing.

Thanks Hobbsey for the reminder that there is a silver lining to everything - even the damn snow

Hobbes looks like he was having a ball. I'll be so glad to see all our snow melted. Did you find any frogs?

That's a great picture. I love seeing a pet having a good time. One of the wonderful things about winter is that it makes spring seem so good when it gets here.

I love that photo too! Hobbes is quite a character hopping around in the snow like that! When the sun comes out, regardless of the temperature, it feels like a warm spring day to me. At least that's what I remember - haven't seen it yet this week!

Merry--He was sick a week ago--kinda hairy, but I'm sure you are glad you missed that. OH, and you missed a nice song while you were gone--go check a couple days back. :)

Grace--It's 40's here and it's downright BALMY!! Hooray!

Pricilla--I thought about putting the sheets out, but I thought that was pushing it a bit. I think they would have rubbed up against the snow piled up. So, I just settled for opening the door a bit and letting the kitties go in and out the cat door. Ah, fresh air!

Tracy--It's melting as I type. :) Good bye snow--for now. I'm sure we'll get more by May. Ugh.

Jude--No frogs today, but I did see a minnow swimming around near the surface. Oh, and one of my pond fish in the house died today. :( Couldn't hold on until spring. Some days I feel the same way.

Ratty--I swear Hobbes was dancing out there in the yard today! He was so happy to be out there in the warm sunshine watching the birdies.

Beaded Tail--I'll send you some sunshine, we've got a few days more of it here. Thank goodness, it is such a mood lifter. The kitties are in hog heaven using the cat door to go in and out today.

Hobbes looks like he's having a great time there.
It's funny how this time of year 40 can feel so good but come fall it's so much colder at the same temp. Guess we just have to enjoy it when we get it

I love this photo, too! Cooooooome on, froggies!

I'm glad Hobbes is all better. Thanks for the good words for Pimp when he was sick, too. I've been such a nut with work and stuff, so I haven't been a good blog pally lately. I'll be back in effect this weekend! :)

I think you've really captured Hobbes, and winter, in all their glory there. Although I'm SoCal born and bred, I know what you mean about 40s seeming balmy - years ago, I spent a week at Lake Tahoe. Half the time it snowed, and then it warmed up and got sunny. The day it hit the mid-40s, I was so warm that I went out and got an ice cream cone. Keeping my fingers crossed for a good frog report!

Hobbes looks so small and cute out there :)

Love that picture of your cat. We don't get much, if any, snow here so I don't exactly know how our cats would react. Although, the older one (11) would sniff the air and stay inside. The other younger one would probably be more curious like your cat appears to be. What fun.
With the turning nice of the weather now. I love watching the younger cat stalk imaginary (or very tiny) bugs. He's too funny.

Ann--It's all perspective, isn't it?! It must still be too cold for the frogs--I haven't seen them pop up yet.

Cute--I am sooo glad Pimp is okay. I know you worried like I did with Hobbes. Ugh. I didn't see the frogs yet, although I did spy a fish swimming, so there is life in there. Don't ever worry about commenting or visiting--no obligations here. I'm a lot more relaxed about reading and commenting now that I'm off EC. We are all busy and sometimes we just can't make the rounds. I get that, so don't worry about that here, pally!

Storm--Hobbes is a great subject to photograph. He makes it easy.

Roschelle--He is doing GREAT! He is back to sunning himself on the patio and chasing the birdies. It's nice to see him well again.

Janiss--No frogs yet! I was sort of worried, but I found some frog skin (they shed periodically) on the surface, so I guess someone is fine. There was also a fish swimming around yesterday--so that is a good sign. The water is green and murky--they may not know it is warm on the surface yet.

Vanilla7--Hobbes, small??? No way! He gained back his one pound that he lost when he was sick, thank goodness. But small is never a word for Hobbes!

LJ--Welcome, new pally! Most cats don't like the snow and I don't know why he does. Maybe because he is young and doesn't know any better! He really likes it if I go out there with him. That's what he was doing here--following me through the deep snow.
