Are you watching the Olympics? I have to admit to watching a bit, although I can't watch more than 3 heats of anything--even Apollo Ohno. I'm digging the amount of curling coverage this year--the men are really fun to watch as they send that stone flying. I like their one slippery shoe too. I would like one of those to wear around town, sliding on just one foot making my daily routine just a little more fun. I don't like the media-induced drama though. Those darned announcers like to make drama out of nothing when they focus on an athlete. What is with that?
Speaking of drama, I gave that up for Lent. I'm going to focus on the postive and not get sucked into negativity. I'm gonna try to not say anything bad about anyone and not have a comment for things that don't pertain to me. Negativity is a disease and it spreads like wildfire. I think this may be my best Lent ever--if you rank them. It's sort of the Lent Olympics in a way.
Isn't it nice not to read about sick 'ol Hobbes today?? He is much, much better this morning. He came and sat on my chest this morning while I was sleeping, which he hasn't done in over a week. He slowed down yesterday, which scared us, but we have to remember that he was very, very sick and that isn't going to go away fast like we wish it would. I'm weary from my every thought being about him being so ill, it was nice to sleep almost through the night last night and only getting up once to check on him. Whew!
Okay, so I'm back to happy stories and fun again. I'm looking for the good in those 12 inches of snow we're gonna get and be happy even if we are bored stiff in the house. Life is good again back at the Duck and Wheel.
Happy Sunday, pallies.

YAY HOBBES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This post is a great way to start my Sunday. So, so, so happy to read it!
Hi Lin.
Your tank looks great.
I have to clean mine today.
Have a great rest of the weekend.
I am sure the fishies can't wait either.
I am beyond happy about Hobbes. Beyond happy.
Cute--Yeah, we are happy dancing around here too. Whew, that was scary.
Harriet--Uh, that was the tank last year--they are much bigger now and in a big tub where we don't see them very well, which is nice because it doesn't have to be crystal clear. Have fun cleaning.....
Pricilla--I love when we can put them out there to eat all the yummy algae and enjoy the warm sun. I can't wait! We are overjoyed with the news about Hobbes too. It was very scary, Patty. Too scary. One down, eight lives to go.
Yay Hobbes!
12 inches of snow means hibernation. Make sure you have some good movie rentals on hand. We're going to Blockbuster after our Targhay run today for rx's.
So glad Hobbes is feeling so much better!
We actually watched some of the curling last night with Canada and Great Britain. I didn't quite understand what was going on but it was kind of interesting. Gretzky was even there so it must be exciting in a weird sort of way.
YAHOO! I was so very happy to hear that Hobbes is back on the road to recovery! Stripey Goodness has far too many "things" to discover in the backyard...for this reason alone it is not his time!
Love ya Lin...so glad everything worked out for the positive!
Also, I am in with you on focussing on the positive...although gosh, what are we going to talk about during the week. Aaahh, I am sure we'll come up with something! hehehe!
Wen
I have no clue why I thought that your fish were still swimming under all the ice and snow. That was a duh moment for me. I guess it would be near to impossible! They'd be ice fishies.
Good news about Hobbes. He's continuing to get better.
No more snow!!! I am done with winter too :( Too bad winter doesn't seem to be done with us yet!
Lola--It also means I've got to drive to work in it--ugh!
Beaded Tail--I saw the same match you did. It's pretty easy to figure it out, you just need to watch more curling. :)
Wendy--It is nice to have my Hobbes back. Thanks for the positive thoughts when he was so sick--it was hard for me to keep upbeat. I kept thinking he's going to regress, but I don't see that happening now. Hooray! Sorry I missed the fun yesterday.
Chocolate--The fish that are still in there (the minnows) go into a hibernation where they just sit very still and do not eat or anything. The fancy goldfish cannot handle the cold so they come in and "winter" in a tub in the laundry room. Every so often, if the ice melts, I can see the minnows moving around a bit. Hey, thanks for the good wishes for Hobbes--we are blessed that he is going to be fine.
Stephanie--We are at the point where every so often we get a "warm" day and the sun comes out. It was like that on Friday, so Hobbes actually went out and sunned himself when he wasn't feeling so great. I swear the warm sunshine made him a bit better. :)
I think that's a very good thing to give up for Lent! :)
Glad to hear Hobbes is feeling better again today. poor little guy! (Um, enjoy that snow?)
I'm so jealous. It looks like the most of the snow is going to miss us AGAIN>
My co-worker's cousin is Katherine Reuter so I have enjoyed watching the speed skating...brokemy heart when she lost in the 1500m (well if can call 4th place losing).
I am so glad he is feeling better. I have been very worried about him. Here's to positivity!
Storm--Forget chocolate--I'm giving up drama! And I'm glad Hobbes joined in on the band wagon. Whew!
Sharky--We aren't getting as much as they planned, but still, it is more snow. I'm sort of ready for this to be done, Sharky.
Jodi--I would imagine it would be far more exciting should you have a connection. I think that is why they tell you all these dramatic stories--to make you connect. It's not working for me.
Anne--Thanks, pally! I appreciate the kind words of encouragement and all the love everyone sent. He is very special and it was going to kill me to lose him. He's down to 8 lives left.
I'm sorry you're getting more snow but, could you do me a favor and keep it? I really don't want any more! I'm tired of tripping over the shovels and the snowblower in the garage. I want to trip over rakes and bikes instead!
Buggys--You know my mother always taught me to share. I'll try to keep it here, but if it happens to just "fall" your way, I'm sorry. :)
Such wonderful news about Hobbes.
BTW, thanks for the heads-up, Lin. Much appreciated.
Ah you are so welcome to your snow. Do they actually clean the streets where you live? Ha Ha Ha - you'll forgive me I haven't been out of the house in over 2 weeks.
So glad Hobbes is getting better and better
Your fishes looks bored indeed. Give them a treadmill or little diver water bubbles to cheer them up?
Sigh, its going to snow again? Say it aint so.
Even if it's so...just say it aint
T
Veronica--Sure, pally. We gotta look out for each other. :) Hobbes is great today! Hooray!
Grace--That was crazy with no plowing by you. I don't blame you for being grumpy on that one, Grace. I guess you could have shoveled your whole street--it would have gotten you out and given you something to do.....for a week! LOL!
Vanilla--Yeah, what do bored fish do anyway??? I can't wait for them to go back outside in the pond--they seem happier there.
Tracy--I'm in 6 inches of denial this morning. It's wet, heavy, and icky--ugh. At least the days are getting longer again, that helps a little.
I have been absolutely obsessed with the Olympics. I tend to fast forward through the early heats though. I'm so sorry you got hit with more snow. We got lucky this time and only got rain. It actually almost feels like Spring today. There was a bird singing outside my window this morning that put me in a good mood. I'm trying to ride that good feeling through the day.
I'm so sorry I haven't visited in so long and didn't know Hobbes was ill. I would have been praying like crazy and sending all kinds of healing energy his way! I'm glad to hear he's finally on the mend and that spring might be just around the corner so you can get the pond going again. I hope you don't get too much snow - I'm sick of the white stuff myself.
Lenox--Oh, the snow was very sad to see today. I mean, it was pretty on the trees, but it was still.....snow. Ugh. Glad you are enjoying the Olympics. I do admit to watching a bit, but not much. Isn't it nice to hear the birdies?? Joe heard a ROBIN the other day. :)
Split Rock--Oh, you missed some drama here, but he is fine now. Gees, it was hairy for a few days. He's back to his crazy self and we couldn't be happier. Thanks for the well-wishes either way.
GAAAK! Still snowing here too... sigh...
Nope ~ not watching the Olympics. Hate sports! Curling ~ my most unfavorite. All that yelling and sweeping!! Ha! Though for some odd reason I can watch golf on TV ~ not play golf ~ just watch it on TV in HD. Go figure...
Swift Current, Saskatchewan (where I live) is hosting the 2010 Ford World Women's Curling Championship at the end of March. I think I shall wear ear muffs all that week! :)
I am so glad little Hobbes is doing better and everything is back to good at your house!
Take care, Catherine
Oh Lin, I have been so busy the last week and a half, and TOTALLY missed what was going on with Hobbes!! OH NO! Actually, if I had known all the ups and downs, I probably would have fretted. I am so glad to hear he is getting back to his swell ol' self. Wow. He's a really cute kitty. I have a cat that looks so much like him, named Milo. Milo is old and was dreadfully ill last year... we think this winter may be his last... although, he has proven that he must have 20 lives or so!
Anyway, glad things are getting better for him. Did you ever figure out what was wrong?
I am also desperate for spring. I've had cabin fever BAD. *sigh* twomoremonths, twomoremonths!
60 days. That's exciting. You should throw an open pond party
Awh...god...I missed Hobbes sick? I'm so glad he's better though. I'll have to go back and catch up next. Eh, I feel so behind! I'm sure you were worried sick with the thought of Henry too. Sigh...
So you are watching some:) It's hard to miss isn't it? Even I, one who is obsessed with the Olympics, must admit, watching everything including qualifying heats gets old. I pretty much checked out since snowboarding ended. I'm getting tired of the long stretches of couch sitting.
Catherine--Uh oh, I just left a comment on your blog about curling! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bring it up if you don't like it. I just like it because it seems like a sport that I could do....AND drink beer at the same time. :) Okay, I won't mention it anymore. And yes, Hobbes is GREAT again! Whew! Thanks for caring.
Rebecca--I miss you! I'm gonna drop EC so that I can do more blog reading and commenting. Hobbes is fine, I think it was a virus or something. It was just really scary. Most of it was vet-induced, so we may be switching vets now. Give Milo a big smoochie for us.
Petula--It can be earlier or later depending on how warm it is this spring. I'm hoping for sooner!
Nancy--Okay, I'll admit to watching a bit each night. I love the biathalon and snowboarding. I like the snowboarding races a ton!
Jamie loves the curling too. Glad to hear that Hobbes is back to his normal self, going back now to see what the heck happened.
