News or no news.....

I'm sorry, no happy pictures today or silly stories. I have been following Hobbes around for days now, hoping to catch him improving.

His temp is normal now--Whew! He is much more active today, going outside to walk around the pond, yard, and even to the neighbors front yard. He jumped on the windowsill and sat in the sun for a bit and stalked the squirrel. He whacked Grace through the cat door and laid on his back in the sunshine--all things normal for Hobbes.

He is however, not interested in food or water, which is the scary part. He was hydrated at the vet yesterday, so he is peeing today, but he won't drink willingly. I am giving him water through a syringe every time he blinks, so I think he is getting annoyed at me. He'll nibble on kitty treats, but really no food to speak of. Food he can do without--water, no.

His coat is shiny, his eyes are clear and he does not look like he is suffering. Everyone who looks at him can't believe he doesn't feel well. He welcomes scratches on his chin, but not full body rubs. No jumping on my chest in the morning, which just makes my cry to think about. He is alert and will even jump for his bird toy if the mood strikes him. It's all just so contradictory!

So, on some levels, I feel the FIP diagnosis isn't correct, but it just sits in the pit of my stomach and makes me cry. Hard. The x-rays show his intestines to one side, but he was also laying that way and his fat could have held them there--I'm looking for positives here, pallies. Anything that tells me this is a virus or a bug. I can't bring myself to go to a specialist to diagnosis it for sure--there is no cure if it is FIP.

Please pray for us, pallies. Pray he will be fine or that we, as a family, can handle this. We've lost 3 kittens in 4 years and I'm not sure the kids (or I) can do this again. We are heartbroken to say the least. I know on the scale of world problems, this is minor, but for us, this is huge.

Thank you for your support, prayers and comments. I'm not blogging, needless to say, but I have been reading them for positive vibes.

I'll be in touch.

It's so sad reading about your kitty - makes me want to cry and I can't stand cats. (The picture of your cat walking your daughter to the bus stop turned me and I think Your cat is pretty cool) I hope it's just a thing and he's better soon.

I just sounds like he has a bug of some sort. Especially since his temp ent down. Any chance it's a giant furball? Did u try a can of tuna? I have learned that when I fear the worst, it is NEVER that. But JUST in case I am sending you good kitty thoughts.

How about salt poisoning? Do you use that ice removeal products on your walkways? If Hobbes walked in it and then licked his feet he could ingest it. Also you may not use the poison type but you mentioned that he went to the neighbors house. They may be the same type of person (idiot) as me who thinks if a cup of the ice removeal stuff is good, then a twenty pound bag has to be great.

I haven't stopped praying for Hobbes and I hope he starts drinking water again soon. Does he like wet cat food? That might help with fluids. Let him know we're all sending him get well soon wishes and give him a smooch from Angel, Isabella and me!

I'm praying for Hobbes, too. And you don't need to say it's a minor thing that he's sick. He's one of your kids. Of course it's major. Good luck in keeping him hydrated.

I'm not sure if this will help any but we went through the same thing with my daughter's kitty when she was little. The doctor suspect FIP. Even went so far as to tell us if it was FIP that we'd have some decisions to make. We were told to take her home and wait for the results over the weekend.

Got her home and discovered that her collar was too tight. That's what had prevented her from eating and why she kept making a gagging noise. Apparently, she had gotten her collar tightened and we didn't even think to check it first. The minute we loosened it up, she was back to eating and drinking. It was such a relief.

I hope that it's just a little bug and Hobbes will be feeling better. Did the doctor check his throat to see if maybe his throat was sore?

So sorry to hear the news Lin. Hadn't been around in a few days and had no idea.

Praying for you and your family and Hobbes, of course :)

Aw #@&*(@$! This CANNOT be happening! We are keeping fingers and paws crossed here that whatever is wrong 1) it is NOT FIP and 2) it is curable and Hobbes will be back to his normal self once it is taken care of.

We are still praying for you Hobbes and your family of two-legs who really, really love you. Please get well. Please help them by trying to survive. We've got so much not yet done.
Purrs from
Sara Cat,
Cajsa Cat,
Calle Cat, your red cat friend
through Tina, who happened to be logged on this time. (She has her own blog, but it is not very popular. Anna's gets more visits. I can't understand why.)

Hobbes must be taking a few days to just relax and find his mojo again.

I'm sending him Cardio mojo via cyber-waves.

Hmm, that is interesting he seems to have his energy level going but won't drink or eat. That is very scary. Cats are great at covering up when they don't feel well--they are very brave creatures!

Hobbes is a part of your family so of course this is huge. i know when my cat was sick, he's all I could think about. I am praying he will be okay. He's such a cool cat!

How sad to watch lively old Hobbes have no energy and not be himself.
