I Love Hobbes Thursday

Who doesn't love a warm sunbeam in winter?
Or an orange stripey kitty?

I love that after one very scary week,
Hobbes is here to meow obnoxiously for his cat toy
on top of the refrigerator
and jump on my chest first thing in the morning--
even if I'm not awake yet.

It is the simple things in life that matter most,
and why do we forget that so easily?
Why does it take a shake up to remind us that
life is precious and that we need to take time out
to wallow in simple joys?

Smile at the sunshine today, if you can.
If there is no sun, then smile at the rain or, god forbid,
the snow.
Be thankful for life.

It is good, you know.

It's "Praise God! Hobbes is ok Thursday!"

Yes, life is good. Keep jumping on her, Hobbes, keep jumping.

Hobbes, thanks for reminding us what is important in life!

Yay Hobbes!

Helene--Amen, sister! Some days it is harder to remember than others, but it is still good.

Daisy--Yeah....kitties!!

DG--and Yay, sunshine! Put those two together and you've got one big happy! Is Spike enjoying the sunshine these days??

I'll be smiling even if they make me go outside for recess today :-)

Yay for Hobbes! I am so very happy that he is OK!

What a perfect picture of peace. And yet he is armed and dangerous.

Midnight spends time in Sylvia's recliner or on the carpet swatch that she placed in front of the patio doors. Food, water and litter box are close at hand, er paw.

Hobbes, thanks for reminding me to roll in the sunbeam... :)

Lin, I've put a "kitty collar" on you at my blog so you can't escape anymore even you bailed out from EC :D

Lin- Your a ducky cool person, with a ducky, cool blog!

Peace.

Life IS good, and I'm sorry you had to endure such a scare to be reminded. But it's that way with everyone.

Gus is stretched out in the sun, smiling. Perhaps he is thinking of Hobbes and how happy he is to be back to normal.

Life IS short. I'm sorry you and your family had to go through such a hard time to remember it. But it's that way with everyone.

Gus is sleeping in the sun right now, smiling. Perhaps he is thinking of Hobbes.

Ginger is the same way with sun spots..she follows them around the house :) I just love that about little furry guys. They find the best of life in warm sun spots.

I'm so glad Hobbes is feeling back to his normal orange stripey self! Life is good - I'd love some sunshine to wallow in myself!

What a wonderful message. This is the exact kind of post that made me think of you immediately for the Sunshine Award. I'm sure you've already been awarded and don't feel like you have to play along but I just wanted to recognize all of your positive energy.

Very glad your Hobbes is doing good Lin, take care and have a great weekend.

I guess I'll smile at the snow ;^)
Thank you Hobbes, you are so adorable. Glad I finally have an orange kitty too, they are so affectionate!

Veronica--He does love the sunshine. :)

Janaes--Some days are harder than others, eh? I hope Hobbes helped a bit.

Jodi--The sun is shining here today, how about you? Maybe outside recess wouldn't be so bad if the sun was out.

Pricilla--Yeah, me too. He has 1/2 of a pill left and that is it! Whew! That pill-taking is tough, especially when they start feeling better.

Chuck--I want to come back as a cat in our houses! I actually put on the fireplace for Hobbes in the evening. What a life that is!

Vanilla7--That's why I told you I was leaving--I didn't want to lose touch with you, pally!

Don--Oh, it's all a state of mind. :) I'm lucky to have good blog pallies.

JD--The sunbeams start getting warmer this time of year and the kitties just seem to know that. Both my kitties are sunning "at the beach" as I type. :) What a life!

Tracy--If I could get away with it, I'd join them in the sun too. I'm sure the family would wonder what I was doing, but who cares. Move over, Ginger!

Split Rock--Yeah, me too. Gees, that was scary to think of losing him. I cried a LOT for those couple of days. I'll send some sunshine your way...

Lola--did you see the sun today, Lola??

Lin said...

Storm--Cats are smart, aren't they?

Auntie E--This time of year the sun starts to finally get warmer. I think the cats somehow know that. If I could fit in a sunbeam, I'd be there too!

Lenox--Nope! I haven't received that award and it made my day! Thanks, pally. :)

Grace--Think of that when you are watching the snow come down. Maybe it will make you smile a bit.

Jude--Yeah, it was scary, Jude. I thought of your Shadow and how close he came to death all those times. Shadow gave me hope in the midst of it all. :)

Jennifer--There is something about those orange kitties! Pretty soon that snow is going to turn into warmer days--really. It is going to happen. Well, I think so anyway.

Wonderful!

Indeed, we do not need bigger things to be happy. The small things in life which sometimes we forget are the most important ones.

Way to go Hobbes! ;D

It's sad that it sometimes takes life's scary moments to make us remember how good life is.

So glad Mr. Orange Stripedy Striped Hobbes is feeling better ~ he looks so warm and loving in that sunlight!

Lin said...

Junezach--Happiness is often found right at our feet, although we don't see it. Isn't it funny that we have to really look sometimes?? Ah, life--it is wacky.

Catherine--Kittys are very smart--if I could fit in a sunbeam, I'd join him!

BeadedTail said...

I'm smiling now because of adorable Hobbes! So glad he's all better!

JODI said...

Recess was outside under a beam of sunshine-- glorious! It felt good to me and for the children to blow off some stink ;-)

Ratty said...

That extra appreciation from a scare is much better than the alternative. I've been through both many times. I hope Hobbes lives a long happy life. My favorite cat looked just like him. Mine thought he was a dog though.

Nessa said...

this post puts a smile on my face, a biggg smile :D

Sparkle said...

Hobbes is definitely on the "important things in life" list. As am I. ;-)

Karen, author of "My Funny Dad, Harry" said...

Yea for Hobbes! I love life's simple pleasures--sunshine, a good night's sleep, pets, loving and dependable husband, nice house, chocolate, pizza, etc. Just wish there weren't so many things to remember to do and hassles to deal with such as bills, insurance, prescriptions, etc.

FishHawk said...

I am so very happy that Hobbes is feeling better, but you being so chipper is irritating!

Casey said...

Ok, I've been a bad friend because this is the first I've heard of Hobbes being under the weather. So glad he's ok to bask in the sunlight.

Lin said...

Beaded Tail--Me too! That sure was scary.

Jodi--I'll bet the kids loved going out! Remember how we used to love that as kids. Fresh air is good. :)

Ratty--I think god gives us little messages so that we appreciate what is good in our lives. I am blessed that my prayers were answered for Hobbes. 1 life down, 8 to go.

Nessa--:) He is a goof, isn't he?

Sparkle--Yeah. And when you get close to losing that, you realize how much his "littleness" makes a huge impact on your life. I'm glad he's back to good health.

Karen--It's the little stuff that gets us through all those other things. :)

Fish--No kidding! I'm downright giddy these days. I'll try to tone it down for you. I can't wait for our Sunday drive!

Casey--You didn't miss much--it was very scary. He is fine now, though, so you came back just in time! You've got enough drama/excitement at your place, you don't need mine to add to it. :)

Glad Hobbes is doing good. Sorry I haven't been around, I've been working on adding my favorites to my google reader and it seems that I've overlooked quite a few. I've got you added now though so I won't miss another post. Have a great weekend

Lin said...

Peewee--No, YOU'RE the best!! :)

Ann--I know! I hung around EC until the end of February going through bookmarking all the blogs I like. I'm hoping I don't miss anyone!! That is the scary part of leaving. On the other hand, I really like not dropping or worrying about my stats anymore. The burden has been lifted and blogging is fun again.
