When we first got him, Hobbes insisted on sleeping close.
Really close.
Like snuggle-up-to-your-face-while-you-sleep close.
Like I-can't-breathe-when-you-do-that close.
But he was a kitten,
and we loved him,
so we let him do it anyway.
And he would purr like a freaking motorboat.

And now, he still likes to snuggle when he first wakes up.
He insists on sitting on my chest like the old days
which is sorta cute,
but now he weighs almost 16 pounds--
which is a LOT of weight on your chest when you first wake up.

so I let him do it anyway.

We all love him too. I always thought cats sound like a diesel taxi.
Awwwwwwwwwwwww the second pic is so sweet. I have the first one on my Ipod Touch. I don't have one of my daughter but I have one of your daughter. The star power of Hobbes-go figure...
Our Seamus does this too. I can't tell you how many times I awoke with his softly whiffling breath on my face, or turned over only to feel his two big paws grasp me reflexively, while he made a little irritated noise because I was disrupting his warm spot. He hates the nights I'm on ambulance call.
Too, too sweet. I love cats...
Awwww...that is soooo cute! My little Charity likes to do the snuggly thing in the morning, also. Right now, as I am typing, she is cuddled on my lap. I love Cats and especially Hobbes! :)
Hint...Hint..those 2 pictures that you posted would look so cute on a Hobbes Calendar! LOL
I miss having a cute little kitty around!! These days it's just big dogs and the Diva!!
Hobbes rules! Midnight likes to stand my chest and nuzzle my beard. Then he breathes his cat breath in my face. Not nice. But as you say, You gotta love 'em.
There's nothing like a purring cat to make you feel that all is right with the world. Especially when he's curled up on your shoulder.
I love that picture of them when he was little. I see you're reminiscing a lot. :)
I adore Hobbes! These pictures are wonderful!! Happiness time :)
Happy Thursday,
Jen
Lin, That is so adorable! I really do miss a purring thing sleeping next to me. Ginger snores now that shes older but its just not the same. Thanks for filling my thursdays with Hobbes - he's a superstar
Tracy
My Kitty used to do that. She insisted on sleeping either on my head or on my pillow blocing my face. *sigh* I really miss her.
I know the feeling. Sherpa likes to snuggle between us. This morning he actually settled down on my face. I couldn't breathe. He's only 6 lbs now but he is growing like a little weed.
What a cuddlebug! Isn't it so cute and noncute at the same time how the fatter cats are in total denial about their weight? And how it only takes 2 minutes for 16LBs to feel like 47? Haha
Oh the things we do for love :)
Such cute pictures!!
Veronica--If Hobbes is a purring taxi, then his horn is his incessant mewing for attention.
Helene--Ah, nothing like Stripey Goodness on your electronics!! I have his photo on my phone. Forget the kids--give me Hobbes!
Shieldmaiden--Welcome, new pally! Why do I have the feeling we are all pawns for our kitties?? Such lives they lead.
Grace--Look how big his paws are in the second photo, Grace. He finally grew into those bad boys!!
A. Marie--Isn't it too late to make a calendar?? I love how the kitties cuddle, but sheesh, they get heavy after awhile, don't they??
Jo--Aw, any fuzzy face will do, right?? Well, I mean the dogs!;)
Chuck--When Hobbes was first here, he had a bad upper respiratory infection and he would purr himself into a bubbly mess. Then came a huge sneeze with cat boogers everywhere! ICK! Now if we didn't push him away on that one....
Petula--It's just funny to look back on how little he was. And I'm taking him to the vet for shots tomorrow--hate to see what he weighs now!
Jen--If only I could give everyone some lap time with Hobbes. :)
Tracy--Yes, he has grown to be quite popular here. I can't forget my Hobbes Thursday posts--I think the crowd would turn angry!
Buggys--Awww. Isn't that silly how they do that face thing?? What is with that???
Pricilla--Come warmer weather, he'll be all over us to let him outside. This is the only good part of winter---snuggling.
Nancy--He literally makes my legs go numb when he sits on me!!
Ann--Yeah. He's soooo worth it.
Stephanie--Nothing like baby pictures!
Awww! Hobbes is so precious! Those photos are adorable! I just love snuggling kitties and the sound of their purr. I'll do anything to not disturb them when they are in snuggle mode.
Hobbes in the cutest form. Maybe he need snoring pillow to cure the noise?
Hobbes is adorable! Glad that he finally grew into his paws. Those were some pretty big paws for such a little guy.
How could one not fall in love with that sweet little face?
What a sweetie :)
Is that his actual weight -- 16 lbs? I love that boy. I would go without oxygen for a little while just to experience the motorboat ride.
There's nothing more relaxing then the sound of a loud kitty purr. I love it! And Hobbes is such a cutie.
Oh he is SO ADORABLE!!!! Livvy likes to snuggle up under my chin on my throat while I sit at the computer desk. It was cute when she was 3 months... she's 18 months now and about 10 pounds.. :-p *gag*
Congrats on your son's NHS induction!
OMG - so cute I could just die. DIE, I tell you!
Beaded Tail--Oh, give me a cuddly kitty with the motor on and the world is good. :)
Vanilla7--He's not snoring--he's PURRING! That means he's happy and that he loves me back. Who needs anything else when you've got that???
Chocolate--Ah, you noticed! Can you believe those feet?? We knew he was going to be huge when he grew into those feet and those ears!
Storm--It is Stripey Goodness at its best. :)
Merry--Yeah. Don't you love kitties?? I do.
CG--It's official! (drum roll) Hobbes weighed in at a whopping 16 pounds at the vet this morning!! Whoooohooo! Whiskey Head Bumps for everyone!
Casey--When he is sitting on me and purring like a fiend, there is nothing you can do! You just gotta go with it and smile. It's all good.
Mrs. Mecomber--Yeah, what was cute when they were little isn't so cute now, but we still allow it. Why is that??? Love. I guess it's all about love, eh?
Nanny Goats--Yeah, I just love his baby photos. Sigh. They grow up too fast--just like kids.
That is one cute kitty! Mine will only snuggle with me when I have a bowl of cereal or yogurt! :(
Aw... his little tiger face is so cute.
Hobbes is sooooo adorable! When I was a little bebbeh, I used to try to nurse on my Mommeh's neck. I do not know why she did not enjoy it.
Ohhhhh . . . HOBBES! So sweet!
My Gus curls up on my chest/neck, too. He's a big boy. He also likes to "suckle" my neck as he purrs (like a motorboat).
Anything you want, Gus. Anything at all.
Catherine--Oh, and he still snuggles which is sweet. Most kitties just outgrow that sweetness. NOT Hobbes, he is a lover.
Sharky--And his big giant feet--ugh! We used to call him "Elsa" from Born Free because he walked like a big heavy lion with those giant feet.
Daisy--Ooooh, can you please post baby Daisy photos one of these days??? I would love to see you as a baby!
JD--Isn't it funny what we will tolerate from the pets??? I would kill my kids if they wanted to sit on my, yet the cat can have my lap until my legs go numb and then some. Anything for kitty love.
